Tips •Try to keep your turbo going at all times •sometimes it’s better not to jump off of a high incline for optimized speed •you can powerslide out of a jump, so you can immediately keep building up your turbo •there are stages of turbo and reserves, so if a time comes you can’t powerslide, the reserves will kick in,and keep the boost going depending on how much you have in your reserves •jumping can help you make sharper turns while going at high speed •if you brake while in the air you can turn much faster, but, you will lose your boost •A good tip if you’re in first is to make sure you have 10 wumpa fruit and try and get a bubble shield. With 10 WF it makes it last until you get hit as opposed to the normal 10, 15 seconds •For the starting boost, flutter your gas and you can build it up all the way for the best start That’s all that comes to mind currently, hope any of this helps.

@@TWD98 When you get a boost from a jump/drift you can see the amount of flames you have increases each time you get a boost. This can only increase to a certian amount without a select few boost pannels giving you blue fire. When at max turbo you don't gain speed from a drift but instead add reserves or fuel. This makes the turbo last longer and allows you to move quicker for longer. To try and put it basiclly keep getting turbos to keep the flames coming out your exhausts
@prettyswift18015 жыл бұрын
Actually, you dont to have to lose speed when braking in the air. If you let go of the X button while air baking, you get a cleaner turn and then pressing x when you land allows you to keep your speed. Something this game does over the original. :3
@Raudent5 жыл бұрын
@@Mcbeen25 Uuh... no... Every time you boost, it extends the reserve value... and the flame will come out longer even when not boosting. The often you boost (airtime, drift, pad, power-ups) the more reserve you have, allowing it to last longer. The point i'm trying to correct is that you do not get stronger boost up to blue fire (Ultimate Sacred Fire)... there are 4 stages of boosts : 1. Fire : A simple power slide or a low airtime 2. Yellow Fire : Three consecutive drift boosts, or a good airtime 3. Sacred Fire : Can only be upgraded by going over a turbo pad, or a really long airtime 4. Ultimate Sacred Fire : Can only be upgraded by going over a super turbo pad. The max boost stage you can get from drifting is Yellow fire... if you're already at yellow fire then it only adds to the reserves... The turbo pads only UPGRADES the boost stage to Sacred fire or higher, if you're already at that stage, you don't need them unless you want to increase your reserves. So... every kind of boosting increases the reserves. So... correct me if i'm wrong, including if i have misunderstood of what you're trying to say.

A few tips. The key to getting better is boosting and maintaining boost levels. You want to try maintain the level 3 boost (get initially from a triple boost) by getting any trick and drift boosts. You get a bigger boost from turbo pads (also with blue smoke pads) which you can maintain in the same way. This technique is broken if you can get it down. I also find that advanced and intermediate characters with acceleration bonus are the best characters

This may help you out: Reserve: Everytime you keep boosting and boosting, the unused speed will be stored and if you let go after all of those triple boost, your speed will last longer (at 5:05, if you keep boosting, that speed will last longer, can even stays for 1 lap even) Sacred Fire: If you keep boosting, the meter broke and your speed is maxed out U Turn: This is new, when you flying and hold the brake button and don't gas, you can trun 180° Blue Fire: There is some boost pad that give you a super speed. As long as your reserve is long enough and and don't crash the wall, you are unstoppable. You can tell the fire on your kart turns blue (like the speed is beyond speedometer) Interesting fact that there is originally a technique called "Bunny Hop" which after you go downhill, if you keep hopping, you will maintain the speed. This was removed on NF unfortunately Hope it's help! (Or someone already told you these lol)

Yes, finally some CTR by troy! To be honest, your racing is pretty good for a first playthrough! My tip for you would be to better conserve your speed. Even more drifting and especially more drifting. For example in sewer speedway you can jump from the edges back onto the middle. Even in the round section, jumping from the high side of the track to the low side of the track gives you a nice boost.

Big pro tip: Try and keep your boost going as much as possible, especially when you start seeing the “blue” fire going off of some green boost ramps (like the ones on turbo track). The “reserves” basically mean just keep on drift boosting or getting a hang time turbo (boost from a high jump) as much as possible to add to your reserves. You do this by not letting the fire coming from the exhaust die out. The longer you can hold a chain of drift boosts, the longer you’ll get the boosted speed that you get when you go off a boost ramp. You’re pretty much already driving like a pro though 👍

This game has been everything I wanted it to be so far. I felt like a kid again as soon as I started playing 😁! Definitely a bit rusty though playing online has definitely been reteaching me things. I’m really glad your enjoying it too! Haven’t watched the whole video yet, but Turbo Track has these special boosts that basically put you at full speed, and by constantly getting drift boosts you can basically maintain that speed for a LONG time. Other tracks like Cortex Castle, Hot Air Skyway, N. Gin Labs, etc, have boost pads like this and it’s important to know where they are and how to maintain them. Also, said pads will make your flames blue so that’s how you ‘ll it’s one of them. I believe going on any other boost pad that isn’t one of the special ones will cancel it out so try to avoid them when you can. 46:27 You did a good job of maintaining that boost here. Could’ve kept it going for a little longer if you didn’t brake.

Hey Troy, I wonder if you could maybe get your hands onto Crazy Chicken Kart 2. Based on what you said in this video I think you would really enjoy playing it. Since the game is very old (early 2004 - for PC), it only has 8 courses, but I can clearly say, they just feel amazing. Every track has a different theme/atmosphere. Every track offers at least one shortcut you have to discover, some are very easy to find, but other ones... lets say it took me a while :P (ok I was 5 when I started playing but still xD) All Characters (7) fit very well into the game and a few tracks are based around their appearance what I think is quite cool. The driving itself is easy to get into and feels right to me, but sadly they did not implement drifting. The item system is easy to get into, but the way they work allows for competitive usage. Sadly the game died because it does not have an online mode, but with a friend on split-screen it offers just as much fun. Normally I am not the guy who basically says 'Hey Troy, nice video, but can you do this and that instead' but the way you talked about different kart game aspects and what is so awesome about them just confimed my thought I had since a while ago, so I will say it: *Please pick up NMeade and make a video about Crazy Chicken Kart 2, I ensure both of you will enjoy it just the way I did.*

Here's a bit of Tech. As you're hopping off a ledge, let it be the apex of a set of stairs, falling, anywhere in the air really. Let go of the accelerator mid-air and hold the brake to pivot mid-air. It's uncomfortable at first, but its very useful when you need to re-adjust yourself before you wreak yourself. This technique is vital in time trails for Cortex Castle for example. Edit: I just got to Troy talking about the technique. Sorry, too quick to the draw!

CTR is based on a reserve system. Every time you powerslide/hit a boost pad/make a big jump, you fill that reserve. Your reserve is burnt at very second to give you a boost, if your reserve hits 0, you lose your boost. If you keep powersliding and filling your reserve, it is possible to drive on reserve without even powersliding for a lap or more. If you have reserve and you hit a super turbo pad, you get the blue fire which gives you the highest speed in the game. if you only hit a normal turbo pad, you get the sacred fire instead, which is slower (intense orange/red).

I absolutely love this game. This is my most Favourite Childhood Racing game. I have become quite familiar with the game after 2 years of experience. The best Stat in the game is Drift, as you can maintain reserve boost for longer. Second is Speed, which is best for Experts, third is Acceleration, which is for difficult tracks with the absolute tightest of turns. The others are significantly slower. It's mostly optimal to use the Left Stick more, as it helps you to fine tune your position, while the D-Pad is used for Tighter and more Advanced turns. You Mostly want to Drift more than jump. Chaining your Drift is required to work up to max speed, and the longer you keep chaining Drift boosts, the more your reserve boost lasts, allowing you to zoom around briefly without drifting. Turbo Pads give you a chance to start up a reserve boost, as long as you have successfully done at least 1 or 2 Drift Chains prior triggering one. After doing so, you have to snake and build up that reserve for as long as possible. Jumping is mostly effective down steeper drops, certain shortcuts, and very tight bends if you have enough boost to keep you going. Some Shortcuts require you to use An advanced technique to cut corners. To air Break after a trick jump, hold Y, and the drift button, let go of the Acceleration, turn, then hold Accelerate before landing from a trick jump. You can use the D-Pad Diagonally down left or right to amplify the Air-break to turn insanely quickly on the dime.

Hey Troy :) When you drift you want to be pushing the stick one way when you start and then pretty much immediately slamming it to the far side to get the widest drift possible on straights :) The boost panels don't just provide a regular speedboost like your drifting does, it lasts way longer and is more powerful. So, the longer you keep up your drift boosts without hitting a wall or losing the boost, you will maintain the same speed that you got from the boost panel! Hope this helps!
@fostej995 жыл бұрын
Troy, I'd recommend learning Ultimate Sacred Fire. When you jump off certain boosts pads and ramps your kart flames will go blue, which means the boost was an super turbo pad (like the ones on turbo track) For as long as you carry on drift boosting after the blue flame has come you can maintain it and you will be going much faster than usual 👌 the final jump ramp on cortex castle is a good example but there are loads. The same applies to the normal boost pads to a lesser extent, this is called sacred fire, if you continue to drift boost after hitting a normal pad you can maintain the speed from that pad 👌Also, the shortcut in Tiger Temple is blocked in normal races, you need an item to break the entrance and then you can use it 👍

You seem to really enjoy pushing the game and exploring potential hidden mechanics so here's some tips; -Learn to use and abuse the boost reserve system. it's a hidden stat that the game never formally tells you about, but to beat Oxide's time trials you'll need them. The way reserve works is analogous to a container of nitro. As you boost (via boost pads or slide boost) you gain a small amount of extra boost that is stored in the nitro container and constantly ticks down as you continue to boost. You'll notice the boost gauge segmented in the new version of the UI, boosting in the third section rewards more reserve than boosting in the first or second. The more reserve you have the longer your boost will last. Your current boost inherits the built up reserve, so boosting on the third slide will give you the strongest boost with the longest duration. With those properties known you can begin to abuse the reserve system. You see, boost pads are also inheritable boosts and are far stronger than trick or slide boosts. You can build up reserve and slide onto a boost pad. The boost from the boost pad (since it was the current boost) inherits the reserves from the slide boosts. Put both together and you have a super charged kart that breaks the speed limit with a pretty long duration. The kicker is that it is possible to build boost reserve faster than it burns out. If you do trick jumps and/or continue to slide boost while under the effect of a boost pad the reserve will continue to build until you run out of reserve or you do something to break the reserve. In CTR:NF you break reserve by hitting a wall (including invisible walls), get hit by a weapon, or get hit by an obstacle. The meta for CTR is to get reserve boost as quickly as possible and maintain it for as long as possible. There are even stronger variations of boost pads hidden throughout the game. You'll notice when you hit these by the blue flame coming out the exhaust instead of the red or orange one. Blue flame boost pads give an even stronger boost so it's in the player's best interest to build reserves, boost on the boost pad, and maintain the boost for as long as you can. -Air braking does not burn reserve, but ground brake u-turns do. Keep that in mind when finding optimal routes. -you can slide boost in mid air and maintain reserve that way too, combined with air braking and your kart becomes surprisingly nimble even though it's going at breakneck speeds. -spam the jump to get around tighter turns (like the corkscrew in dragon mines). It won't preserve reserve, but you can get out of the section faster and without hitting a wall allowing you to get into a section to build up reserve before it burns out. -hitting a wall (even invisible ones, like the top of the pipes in sewer speedway), even nudging it halts all momentum. avoid making contact with walls. -using reserve boosts (especially blue flame boosts) you can outrun most power ups. the exception is the time stop clock (it hits instantly) and the blue orb (which is a blue shell and will eventually track you down unless you finish the course before it hits). -different characters are better optimized for different tracks. try them all out and see which fits for you (the stats are tied to characters, feel free to choose any kart skins you want) -this one might be a placebo, but I feel that jumps inherent momentum in CTR. So in tracks with many small hills (tiny arena) you can trick jump off of the smaller jump then start chaining the jumps together, each one being longer than the last (which means more air time and larger boosts). it makes tedious courses that much faster.

If you want to learn more about this game I recommend just looking up videos for the basics in driving in this game there are quite a few videos for the original CTR game and from what I can tell there hasn’t been any changes to the gameplay if there have been then I guess my guide won’t apply If you want a simplistic overview then I’ll explain it here You almost always want to be drifting and releasing mini turbos when the turbo gauge is almost full not when it’s only about 3 quarters or less Doing this will build up reserves which essentially increase the time spent with a turbo when you go across turbo pads From there you want to keep doing mini turbos and that will maintain your speed a lot like mario kart ds That’s the main premise but a few miscellaneous things When going down slopes always mini turbo you get more speed from mini turbos that way When going from ramps always jump and get a boost Avoid doing small mini turbos whenever you can they decrease your reserves Reserves also decrease when doing nothing and slowing down Hopping a lot will get you across off-road quicker and increases time spent when boosting There are super turbo pads such as all the pads in turbo track and the third turbo pad in n gin labs which give abnormally large boosts which almost reverse how you want to play since you don’t want any kinds of boost as any boost you get like from mini turbos or jumping off ramps will reset the boost from the super turbo pad and cause you to slow down and the length of this boost is determined by your reserves. To reiterate you should still look up some videos even if you have read this just to learn a bit more about this game that I don’t know about and also I have no clue of every mechanic is the same between both games as I haven’t played the new game yet so I recommend testing them before putting them into practice

I've played the game for a bit now and the one thing I can say for sure is that the super turbo works differently in that getting boosts from jumping and mini turbos now increases the time spent with the boost just like a normal boost so you want to increase your reserves by doing perfect mini turbos and then go over the super turbo pad and then get boosts where ever possible This is very useful on tracks on hot air skyway where if you're good about turning and staying on the track you can keep the super turbo from where you get it at the bottom of the spiral to the second to last turn of the track

I used to play the original CTR and this video is so nostalgic. I wanna play this, but I don't have a switch. Anyone know if there's plans to release it on Steam?

correction: it was on the PS1 lol edit: "[Dragon Mines] took a turn from Mario Kart Wii's page" even though you could drive on the minecart rail in the OG version too lol
@ligma3345 жыл бұрын
If they kept the rail driving it would be broken lol if only he knew why they had to remove them lmao

tips: Trick off of every ramp, the higher you jump the longer the boost when you land. Don't activate your boost when your drifting until the bar is full, the more full the drift gauge is the bigger the boost.

I am not a pro, i just played the old games alot, so this is what I remember

The vehicles don't actually matter in CTR, only the characters change the stats. The vehicles are just cosmetics.

To help with drift control and just general control of your kart drive around in the HUB worlds in adventure. You can turn a lot sharper than you think durning a hop allowing you to kind of turn in midair.

Make sure that every time you drift boost that it’s a perfect boost, you get a lot of good ones

Cocoa Park is such a cool reference to Crash Twinsanity! (if you didn't know at one point you were gonna go into cocoa's mind and it was gonna be a whole level they cut out!!)

Just got to the Tiger Temple time stamp. Start boost is completely different than Mario Kart. You gotta pump the gas for the best possible boost, the meter shows you how much you put in. Keep pumping before the 'GO' then hold the accelerator, anytime really, it's made to be accessible. But do it too early and your engine chugs out.

I've been on the grind for this game hard. Crazy to think right now that I'm better than Troy at a kart game!

Hopping down hills was faster in the original game at least, so it probably still is here

This game looks nice but i dont think its for me. The graphics look way too filled imo and as a long time mariokart fan the physics look weird for me. Dont get offended tho just my opinion.

8:00 You should try out Team Sonic Racing. It too has amazing track design that's very easy to remember because of the exact reasons you mentioned.

I disagree, the tracks in TSR are very generic and a lot of tracks use the same textures and colour pallet
