This one was really fun, but also rough towards the end. I got a lot farther than I expected because of the competition, but most of the people in the invitational were people I've played a lot before in ko streams. The stress really got to me near the end, as it did for Etter and Roxie because of the countless moments that happened. Also, you totally didn't forget to wait for me at both final 6 and 5, but I don't take it personal lol. ggs to everyone that played, and I hope the next series is just as fun!
@carsonmkw10 күн бұрын
Also, I'd like to say 6 people were VIP in this invitational, and then there's Troy, meaning only 5 people made it that didn't have some higher role status. Roxie pointed that out to me in dms after the invitational, which made me the last surviving player who didn't have that type of status, which lifted my spirit up a bit.

its been really interesting. so i started watching prolly 2018ish. at that time troy seemed basically unbeatable, most events he was winning or coming in top spots. but as times gone on people have gotten *so much more skilled* and it's pretty cool to watch. they're basically on the level troy was on back then.
@General12th9 күн бұрын
If not better. Troy admits he doesn't play the game very often (he plays in batches once every week or two for recording, and that's about it). If he played every day or played purely for the sake of practice, he could improve quite a bit. That said, we watch Troy because he's a great performer and maintains a wholesome attitude, not because he's the best player in the world.

Would it be possible to have a team knockout? There would be six teams of two and the team with the lowest combined points at the end of the race/gp would be eliminated. It would definitely shake up the overall dynamic of the game, having to not only look after yourself but also your teammate!
@rewardadrawer9 күн бұрын
WAIT this idea is so good actually? Knockout races and invitational GPs are already double elim, so the only thing that would change would be the two people getting eliminated are paired. You could do random pairings (a la mogis) and make sure no repeat pairings happen within a day so if someone goes on a streak, they lift up three different people. Then, you do an invitational draft, where top seed picks their partner, etc! Sadly, I don’t think any race mod supports that, so it’d have to be manually done, which probably makes it harder to implement!
@General12th9 күн бұрын
Hi Troy! Hi Rocksea! This went better than expected. I'm proud of everyone. Since Retro Rewind has inside-drifting bikes and purple MT karts, I hope the next knockout can go back to a vehicle point mode. I bet those will be a lot less stressful and draining because there's so many good vehicles.

Hope it's not too confusing, but personally I'd love to see some more variety in invitationals or as a whole. I've mentioned before about the point system giving points for both characters and vehicles, to promote not just running Mach Bike on middle weights and so on if you want the most points. But how about possibly for invitationals you include another thing where the winner of a "batch" of however many races gets to pick the next combo. Then to stop possible repeat choosers, if the person to win the next "batch" is excluded and it goes to the next person who hasn't picked yet. Could possibly introduce more variety?
@TWD9810 күн бұрын
Sounds like a pain to organize since we’ll run into issues if even 1 person doesn’t remember to switch vehicles

This past Christmas I finally modded Mario Kart Wii on my Wii at my parents house. I got CTGP-R and Retro Rewind on it. My sister and I were playing CTGP courses, and she ended up getting really upset by a few of the custom courses and wanting to go back to the normal MKW tracks. It made me think about how probably a lot of the courses were designed with only inside drift in mind, because she was trying to use outside drift karts, since that's what she's used to in MK8D. I thought a few of the courses were poorly designed too, but there are so many that I forgot which. Idk why I'm posting this comment, but watching you get owned by items and bullets going into walls just reminded me of that.

FYI, I don't think it randomly decides the winner if the finishing times are equal down to the millisecond. I think there are hidden digits after the milliseconds that are rounded, but in this event, those extra digits are used to break the tie, so in fact I believe that meant that Roxie beat Etterbeer that race, just by less than a 1-millisecond margin. I'm not 100% on that, but this is what I've heard. GG's, this was a really fun series to participate in! I do agree though that 200cc is quite stressful when playing against people of such a high skill level, lol.

Okay, boshi should have definitely been in the finals. I believe the game records up to 6 decimal points for time, but only displays three on the screen. It didn’t just happen to award Rocksea the win, rocksea DID win, if even by a ten thousandth of a second. VERY glad that Etterbeer didn’t win off of that

I feel like you shouldn't handicap yourself so much with these custom tracks, still was a fun watch though! EDIT: Nah Etterbeer, take the L. The game counted you out, gotta abide by the Mario Kart gods. Props to Boshi for giving Etterbeer the chance anyway.
