Nostradamus is a Rock Opera, the band couldn’t stress enough before its release that it was not a traditional Priest album and that fans shouldn’t expect one from it. The worst way to approach it is comparing it to Priest’s other albums because it’s really not the same thing. I personally love it, that riff on Prophecy is infectious and the Four Horsemen songs are epic af (War is my fav). I would’ve paid to see it brought to the stage in some form or maybe as a laser show. Admittedly, though, the first disc is considerably more memorable than the second.

While I can't make a proper list (haven't really heard three of the albums mentioned) I absolutely agree on best one and the worst one. Virtual XI hate always seemed weird to me,cause despite big issues it has, it still has some great songs to make up for it. Illud Divinum Insanus is just baffling on so many levels,even more than St Anger,I would argue. With St Anger under all the shitty mixing and trash can snare and numbingly long songs you can still hear lingering soul of Metallica. Illud sounds like a batshit crazy side project that somehow got released as Morbid Angel album. So in a way, it's a mix of St Anger and Risk. After making that conclusion,I think I respect those albums a bit more now,at least they weren't Illud

Here's my ranking from best to worst 10. Demolition (yeah this one is Priest jumping into the nu metal bandwagon but it has some songs i like and overall i'd guess is the least bad from all these) 9. Virtual XI (honestly i prefer it more than the X Factor, at least this one has a better production and more energy to it) 8. Supercharger (pretty mediocre and too long but not that bad, there are some riffs in it that are decent) 7. Risk (Pretty mellow and mostly boring but other than that it's okay, just one i don't comeback too often) 6. Diabolous in Musica (pretty boring) 5. Cold Lake (extremely boring and the production is not good) 4. The Path of Totality (only like 2 songs that i like and the rest is just weird, not a fan of dubstep having a pop song structure) 3. St. Anger (awfully produced, but the Unnamed Feeling steals the album) 2. Illud Divinum Insanus (st anger on steroids) 1. Forbidden (the sound in this one it's so badly and lazily produced it's borderline unlistenable)
@martinfalk85973 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard all of them but I can at least rank those that I have heard: 1. Risk: one of the worst albums in the history of music. Easily gets my nr 1 spot. Even if I'm grasping for straws I struggle to find anything remotely decent on this album. Just an unlistenable mess IMO 2. Demolition: almost as awful as Risk but is saved by Machine Man and Bloodsucker which are alright songs. 3. St Anger: Change the production and it's still awful. Just not as much. I like the first 3 songs, the rest can get in the bin. 4. Virtual XI: This is not even the worst album by Maiden IMO (No Prayer For The Dying holds that title). Sure, some of the songs are way too long for their own good but as a whole I don't mind Virtual XI. It's OK. I have planned to check out Forbidden and Diabolus soon though. Wish me luck! Update: Forbidden is absolute trash. I really like the title track. The rest can get in the trash can that Lars Ulrich uses on St Anger 😅 probably nr 2 on my list after Risk

I don't think I've ever heard a Metal song so bad as Mea Culpa before it was just simply the most terrible and disgusting piece of music I have heard and hopefully will ever hear. However, it wasn't the band's fault, it was the vocalist David Vincent who joined back when they made this album, he was the one who insisted on making a industrial album when it seems like from what I've heard Trey didn't really like the idea, understandably so, and it's no surprise it's around the same time this album that their best drummer left the fucking band.

I can't believe the snare bothers people that much. If I could remix/master it. Since everyone bitches, yes, I'd tune the snare better. Some live takes added in some solos and fills, I'd include all that, cuz they work just fine. Delete Invisivle Kid and Shoot Me Again. Edit DOWN the length of a couple of them. You don't need to repeat verses, either come up with more lyrics, or just edit the song to be shorter. The mix from the live in studio performance dvd that originally came with it, sounded better. Although I've gotta say, for a band that made a record sound as amazing as the Black album sounded(whether or not you like the tunes), with the means to do whatever they want..... why does there have to be a sound issue with almost every record now. St Anger's snare. The clipping complaints and 'loudness' issues with Death Magnetic? I care about the songs way more than any of that. But fuck, just make it sound right so I don't hear people bitching anymore.

St.Anger is one of the most underrated albums. It's nowhere near their best material, but it's not bad at all. The title track is one of the best Metallica tracks imo. Yeah its a change in sound and ngl it kinda reminds me of slipknot in the way that they were delivering the vocals, but other than that, its really not that bad. The whole snare thing, yeah its a snare. But to me, its just something that kinda is there. Virtual XI, the whole thing about how blaze isn't maiden gets on my nerves. A band is a band, I don't care what kind of music it is, as long as it's good, it's good. Carcass went from Goregrind to Melodic Death Metal. Blaze Bayley is extremely underrated, and people seem to just dog on the albums cause it isn't bruce. I know there are a lot more reasons other than "its not bruce" but what I hear is most often is that its either "its not maiden" or "his vocals are boring" its ok to not like his vocals, but hearing someone say that it isn't maiden gets on my nerves after a while Risk isn't that bad either. Load and Reload from Metallica are also some killer albums Forbidden is one of Black Sabbath's best albums. Angry Machines is also a great album from Dio. For me, the biggest problem with St. Anger isn't the snare, the lack of solos, or even the vocals. The songs themselves, for the most part, just feel hastily put together and drag on WAY too long at times. I actually really like Sweet Amber and Unnamed Feeling, and even Frantic I have a lot of fun with. But Some Kind of Monster, Invisible Kid, and All Within my Hands just feel like they drag on way longer than they needed to and they just feel awkwardly put together. I don't find it to be as bad as some people make it out to be, but I definitely can't say I find it to be a good album. Other albums I can't really speak on, but I can say that The Educated Fool is a really underrated song from Virtual XI, and it kind of upsets me that more people don't talk about it. Also Angel and The Gambler wouldn't be as bad if the second half wasn't there, because the first half is actually really fun to listen to.

It's not different, it's Megadeth doing pop. Supercharger is Rob Flynn's attempt at creating radio friendly metal. I like a lot of the Burning red, but this went too far. Not interested in that Korn record.

Most of these albums are irredeemably bad. I don't think re-recording would fix anything about Saint Anger. I understand focusing on the production but, to me, taht's not really the problem -- it's 100% the songs. Forbidden is sure not great -- but I'd rather listen to it than to the album 13. yes, I said it. That is a shit album made by a tired band. Who wants to listen to a much worse copy of the first three Sab albums with really shitty drums and a vocalist who past his prime over twenty years ago? Not me! Also I feel it's overstated by some that people just "don't like things because they're different". Sure, the bands would say that, but give actual music fans more credit -- if we like bands, we are open to the idea of them experimenting, but a lot of us are going to call a failed attempt exactly what it is...a failure. Granted that's somewhat subjective and people do look for different things in music.

Least worst to worst Cold lake, if it was released by a glam band it would be a classic, great riffs. Virtual IX Forbidden St anger Risk Demolition Diabolous in musica Dont care much for korn or machine head Illud dinvinum insanus

Virtual XI is unfairly trashed, I don't particularly care for it but it's still a fun listen once in a while. I'd give it like a 6.5/10, and I enjoy it a bit more than X Factor. Illud Divinum is... weird. Experimental, but in parts it's somewhat listenable. The more nu-metal parts are utter cringe. 3.5/10. Risk is better than St-Anger, as it has some redeeming features, unlike its famous Metallica counterpart. Black Sabbath's Forbidden is just bad.

Slayer Diabolus is pretty good. Definitely doesn’t suck in my opinion. Iron Maiden Virtual 11 isn’t that great….BUT I do like some of it when Bruce sings them. Never liked Blaze in the band. Lastly, St Anger also isn’t that great. A couple of the songs are ok live but as far as the album versions it sucks!!

Three quarters of Iron Maiden and Sepultura's bland, boring, torture inducing albums are missing. Big respect for artists trying something different as opposed to staying bland. And as described before do more videos where no you don't do quest for metal but instead are trying to stay the fuck away from it. Morbid Angel were clearly smoking with Behemoth before making Illud. No one ever see it as bad that it's good?

I don't mind any of these albums except for Machine head. I hate Machine Head. They are booorrriing as hell. They're very long winded, all the songs sound the same and so slow.. Rob Flynn has this amazing powerful voice but the fact that the music is repetitive doesn't do him justice. You know that episode in Family guy where Stewie and Brian destroy Peter's record. That's what I want to do with the Machine head albums.

I suffered through St Anger when it was released and apart from the terrible production I feel the songs are equally as terrible. Their too long and go nowhere the worst offender no solos and there are a few instances of James Hetfield’s singing is shot to shit. It’s like a shit sandwich that was shit out they polished it with extra shit packed and in an air tight container to preserve the fresh shit smell.

St Anger is my pick for the worst album in the history of music... Illud Divinum Insanus was rough and stupid, but most of it was listenable to me. Risk is OK, Super Collider is worse imo. Virtual XI isn’t bad per se, but there are real stinkers on it like The Angel And The Gambler and Lightning Strikes Twice has a fucking annoying chorus. Don’t know about the other ones, BUT about bands turning glam: Crust punkers Discharge made their second album Grave New World in that style with a shitty piercingly falsetto vocal delivery lol xD
