Little thing about coins, they actually protect you from boos, or rather your better item. A Boo will always steal your coin first before the item behind it, so it's always a good idea to hang onto it until you get to the next item box

I feel like the boo is underrated here. The whole invisible thing is great in the middle of the pack, as that's where the most chaos is. Just having a moment to breathe is powerful. Also it's the best item to dodge the lightning with as good players will check the minimap to see who is in a star or bullet bill and will wait until they end to actually use it, but the minimap won't show you someone in a boo. Also the stealing is still nice. Yeah stealing a star or bullet is rare but it's REALLY powerful when you do, as not only are you giving yourself that item, but someone who might have made a big play with it now can't. Plus even if you steal a banana from first? Well you might have just gotten first hit with a red shell.

A little thing to note. A crazy 8 cannot be stolen by a boo. However having your star yoinked is all too common.

I would argue that Piranha goes over Golden Mushroom. Neither item gives you behind defense, but will offensively punish your attackers who pass you. Additionally, the dread of having an essential item by these two arent the same. No matter what I do with the golden, I'm forced to use it for 8 seconds, while I can burn through the Plant a bit quicker.

That’s fair, I may have been a bit too harsh for it, I just don’t like that the speed boost isn’t enough to let you take shortcuts even when you spam through

Blue shell is extremely useful. It causes the gap between first -4th place to narrow. That makes them all fight more, bringing 5-you closer. It also makes the race longer giving you more time to catch up. A blue shell makes a huge difference. Solid pick

Boo is so underrated, especially since the introduction of custom items. As someone who likes to play all power items only, the Boo is legit the best item to pull.

Triple Banana is still really good defensively. You just drop the next banana as a red shell is incoming. It absolutely should be a higher tier than single banana.

I would argue that for the casual player, bullet bill is better than the star because there's no chance of falling off the track. It's made for the players with skill issues.

I would've put the ghost a little higher. Sure, it normally steals bad items, but you're invincible for quite a long time, even longer than a star

actually up to 3 can be pulled at once in mk8d. it’s honestly insane that even 2 can pull it imo but i’ve hardly had experiences in all of mk8 + deluxe where i’ve had multiple shocks back to back from multiple people pulling it

As someone who plays this game competetivly there are a few things on this list that I disagree with. 1. Bomb. I would honestly put this in clutch af tier. If you pull this in first it can be really useful for creating space between you and the rest of the pack especially on certain tracks. 2. Green shell: I’d say it’s a not terrible item. There are definitely better items on the list that deserve a spot in solid pull more than the green shell. 3. Triple bananas: I would put this one in solid pull. It offers great defense and is just solid all around. Yes it may lack protection but what I do is just drop it behind me so that way the red breaks on the banana. 4. Piranha plant: I would put this one in solid pull. It can carve through the pack, if someone has triples ahead of you or is trailing this item is great for getting rid of them. And when you press the attack button it will actually give you a brief speed boost each time you use it. 5. Boo: the boo is a pretty decent item. You can use it to be invincible which can come in really clutch. Having one also means that no one else can steal it. By far the best item to have in first for this reason. And also if you use a boo in first it will always give you a mushroom because there is nobody ahead of you. And back to the invincibility it lasts for 10 seconds which is longer than the star and the boo also can steal something useful. 6. Crazy 8: now this could definitely be a clutch af tier but in my opinion it’s just not good. You cannot use it strategically, you can get your star stolen, and the bomb it comes with can blow yourself up. 7. Golden mushroom. This item I feel is often underrated. It provides a speed boost equivalent to a normal mushroom but it can be very useful to either just get away or make up some really good ground against the rest of the pack. And there are also certain situations where goldens are better than stars for certain shortcuts that are just big. 8. Coin. I’d put this item in big terrible. It goes at the bottom of the tier but it’s definitely not useless. Using it gives you 2 extra coins and if you have 10 then you get a 7% speed boost which is essential if your in first and are trying to get away from the pack. It also protects your 2nd item from being stolen by a boo. Let’s say you have protection or a horn in the 2nd slot. You don’t want it getting stolen. And lastly if you have a coin your garunteed to get an item next set. 8. Don’t get me wrong triple reds are great but sometimes you would rather have them for defense over offense. For that reason I’d put them in clutch af tier and the red shell at the top of solid pull. Other than that everything else I can agree with.

08:23 you forgot to mention that coins could help you to not get your item stolen by a boo and you can also use a surprise effect like pretending that you just had that bad item to then surprise your opponent with a defensive or offensive item

Correction: multiple players can have lightning at the same time. You just can't get one for 30 seconds after one is USED. That's why sometimes you get shocked twice in like 5 seconds- someone dodged with a lightning

the blue shell can be useless in Yoshi Sanctuary. it always takes the cannon path from what i've seen, so don't take the cannon and you'll get to see that blue shell fly right past you if you haven't passed the split paths

Blooper is a bit useful If you Play offline against npc's because they slow down, I first noticed that while playing Mario Kart DS and I believe that still applies in MK8

I actually disagree with the star being elite ONLY because you can still have your remaining item, if you have any, stolen by Boo. It's not complete in invincibility whereas in the regular Mario games, you can actually kill the Boo with the Star. I agree with everything else however, the star is more of a Clutch AF for me personally as well as the Golden Mushroom.

The one downside to Bullet Bill is that you don't control when it ends. Once, for me, it ended just after a jump and so I immediately came crashing down lol. Still an elite tier item for sure but it isn't flawless

By the way you forgot two things to mention about the boomerang flower. It's able to go through defenses and destroy multiple shells and bananas unlike the red and green shell. This gives you the opportunity to take out other racers much more effectively than the shells. Also if you throw it and have another item in your slot, it will come back in the second slot which can be also good if you have good items in there. For me it's a solid item 👍

Items that I think are so stupid: Blooper: What is the point of this item, all it literally does it cover some of the screen and here's the thing, if you know the track layouts so well, it's like not an issue at all, I just think it's so pointless and just does not make sense Coin: This item is so ridiculous and how come this wasn't an item in mk7, you ALWAYS get this item every second in 1st place, and every race starts the exact same where you're in first place and you'll always get a coin and second always gets a red shell and they hit you with it and you are out of 1st place and it's like you will never be able to come back Bomb: This item is so stupid and pathetic, when you are behind 1st place and they have a bomb, they will throw back at you and the explosion takes up the whole road like where you are driving on and it's like unavoidable

The coin is not worthless its one of my fav items because of the actual versatility and the VERY small mushroom boost and the max speed increase is epic and in 1st its kinda hard to get coins cause of red shells and blue shells beating you up ALSO getting 10 coins is OP its always like useing a constant mushrooms (the lowest speed cart can beat the fastest by a lot if it has 10 coins) so I love coins

5:08 you also forgot to mention that in this game it makes the kart/bike more slippery but I’d still say it’s worthless even with this buff 5:41 it’s actually 3 Online in this game for whatever reason but there can only be one boo and blue shell in play too that’s what I find odd about it 7:55 it’s impossible to steal crazy 8s The player will get a mushroom if there is no item to steal too

Bomb omb is overpowered. You can throw it behind you after a turn and either get 3 seconds further ahead or have second take a very wide turn. It can block multiple red shells at a time and just well don't trail it. Why are you doing that. Also how can triple shocks happen only when there can only be one at a time? There can be 3, 30 seconds after start of the race/ last shock

Yeah, boo never seems to be giving me useful is like banana peel or green shell or worst of all the coin and it is really easy to get hit on back so i got a boo and stealed coin i used it and i got hit right away that means i just losed 1 coin soooo uncool!
