Was literally gonna comment this I think these dudes don't know the difference between young players and breakout players. Vicario may have been solid in Serie A but he's now one of the best keepers in the league only behind Allison in my opinion

He's still wrong though, because that would be a breakout season not a breakthrough season. That being said, he is right on calling out the others though because they've all got it mixed up. Breakthrough season means the player has just broken into the first team, so in a sense only somebody like Cole Palmer really fits the criteria. Both Vicario and Udogie have already played plenty first team football so they couldn't have had "breakthrough" seasons, instead they both had breakout seasons. So Tom is right on calling them out about including Udogie and excluding Vicario.

I'm with Tom on the Vicario shout. A breakthrough season just means that they have a standout season where they play really well. Vicario is in a new league, with a different pace/style of play, and he's replacing a keeper who was solid for Spurs for multiple years in the past. I never knew who the guy was before this season, and he's been class this year for Tottenham this campaign. I promise you they wouldn't be in 4th without him.

No that would be a breakout season, not breakthrough. Breakthrough season essentially means the player has just broken into the first team for the first time, so in a sense only somebody like Cole Palmer really fits the criteria. Conversely, breakout season would mean what you have described. That being said, Tom is still right to call them out though on including Udogie. Both Udogie and Vicario have had breakout seasons and not breakthrough seasons (they both already played plenty of first team football). You can't have one and not the other.

When Micky van de Ven played for FC Volendam (2 seasons), they were still in de Keuken Kampioen divisie (Dutch Second tier). From there he got sold for an astonishing €10.5 million to Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. His first season there he didn’t play much and was injured for like a 1/3 of the season. His second season was his first full season at top tier level before he went to Tottenham Hotspur. Also Vicario only played 2 full seasons at first tier level in the Serie A before going to the Premier League

I don't think you get that Liverpool are in a title race and are only behind Arsenal on goal difference. Quansah has also been an integral part in the Europa League run, which should not and cannot be underestimated.
