It's always ironic that the games that avoid leaping onto the next generation graphics fads always seem to be the ones that age the best visually. I'm honestly shocked we don't see more of these "HD 2D" games these days.

True. Sometimes jumping too quickly to the next gen graphics when it is not yet too developed is a bad idea. One example is Suikoden 3. The 3D looks nice, but the animation is super sluggish

Chrono Trigger is a Super Nintendo game lol.. Comparing it to PS1 performance from years later and putting it at the bottom tier because of the "animation" is a sin.

Yup, for RPGs definitely. Pocketable and most RPGs dont need analog sticks too
