@@llamaczech to be fair to Morrowind's Dwarven set. While it is indeed ass, lore kinda saves it. As its mentioned that the pieces you see people walking around in are scraps from Dwemer centurion constructs. Now I'm not sure if that's Bethesda's revisionist lore, made to rectify that stylistic choice. However, there was a book in Skyrim that went over that bit of lore.

Yeah, TES6 really needs to bring back the "Hunnic/mongol/samurai" -look of orcish armour. They're supposed to be master crafters, their armour should be incredibly well made, if not too intricate.

From "The Ruins of Kemel-Ze" - "I laughed to myself, thinking of the many warriors unwittingly walking around Tamriel with pieces of Dwarven mechanisms on their backs. For that, of course, is what most "Dwarven armor" really is - just the armored shells of ancient mechanical men." But to be clear, I never thought of this book as historical, just a kind of action/thriller story.

One thing to keep in mind is that the drastic styles in each game are based off of the realm of your primary enemy. Eso is supposed to be cold harbor and it fit, oblivion is merunez daegon which is more red and fiery, and Skyrim is more dragonic since there isn’t a primary daedra enemy.

I think oblivion was trying to update the daggerfall deadric armor. Daggerfall fall seemed to have two armor types with different colors and trim. Daedric was plate armor in red. I feel like oblivion was trying to recreate that. You can really see it with the dwarven armor. In daggerfall it uses the vertical layers design in gold. Oblivion uses the same. Elven armor in daggerfall is plate armor in bright green. Oblivion tries to recreate it. I think I can appreciate what oblivion did. Trying to get back to ‘normal’ from morrowind while also being a call back.

I will rank of my favorite armor with only full sets, so single pieces of armor won't count. This will take two games into account Oblivion, and Skyrim. My top 5 Light Armor sets: 1. Amber Armor(Oblivion), 2. Mithril Armor (Oblivion), 3. Dragonscale Armor (Skyrim), 4. Glass Armor (Oblivion), 5. Shrouded Armor female version (Skyrim), My top 5 Heavy Armor sets: 1. Deadric Armor (Skyrim), 2. Ancient Nord Armor female version (Skyrim), 3. Blackwood Armor (Oblivion), 4. Imperial Dragon Armor (Oblivion) 5. Stalhrim Armor (Skyrim), Bonus for Creation Club armors my favorites are Leather Armor as a light set, and Iron Armor for Heavy set.

I really like ESO’s armor, and I also 100% respect you guys not mentioning it too much for this. It’s very difficult to compare. I will say my least favorite thing about ESO armor has to be all the crotch flaps…there are so many and they can be silly.
@arbitrary_thoughts
@arbitrary_thoughts 2 жыл бұрын
The crotch flaps and the inability to hide any armor piece or flap you want is so frustrating. I understand ZoS not wanting there to be players running around in their underwear, but that's already possible and there's certain outfits that are close enough to that as well.

You three are killing me; eso has materials and styles for armor. Iron and steel, for example, are materials. Daedric can be crafted as a style from iron, steel, dwarven metal, ebony, etc. this changes the colors (though it can be dyed). ESOs daedric also has its own lore; the minions of Molag Bal wear the style.

Awwww guys, you should have included some of the sets from ESO too! Some of them did some really cool renditions of all these armors and, speaking of the Elven armor, they literally created all kinds of awesome ones that you guys probably know about, like Divine Prosecution, Welkynar, and so on. And yeah...a lot of the ESO vanilla stuff is FAR lesser quality than the expansion and DLC stuff that has come out since then. Honestly, THAT newer stuff is what you should be comparing as it's more Bethesda's normal level of quality (and frankly even higher heights in some cases). Also, it seems you guys' biggest problem isn't ACTUALLY the armors, but maybe a misunderstanding of the Dye system? The base dye that ALL armor comes with (regardless of type) is literally all neutral grey, maybe brown as a secondary, and green as a tertiary color for the three different dye slots. If you want to make it look lore accurate, you TOTALLY can. You'd have to look at the town guards in bonemold or elven armor for example, to see how they are supposed to look. The Daedric doesn't have black or red for this reason...it's designed for players to dye however they want so it's gray/grey when you buy it/loot it. Likewise, the bonemold you guys looked at in the photo from ESO was a player who had dyed the armor with specific dyes that make anything applied to it more metallic. And finally, regarding the ESO Daedric armor...the one you guys looked at is the "base" game armor that is just called "Daedric" armor, there is also specific kinds of Daedric armors like the Dremora style (literally Skyrim's daedric armor 2.0) , Dremora Kynreeve armor, Ebonshadow (sort of a Nocturnal/Nightingale style), Meridian style (basically the armor of Meridia's Aurorans), Xivkyn (which is similar to Skyrim's daedric armor), Ancient Daedric, Annihilarch's Chosen (a very brutal looking Dagon themed armor that looks inspired by the Oblivion daedric armor).

You can even Sprint across gaps to activate the dwemer machines with the level by the final chest. Just watch out and don't get killed by falling, dwemer centurions, giant spider. Alright for how I'd place these: Iron: have to agree, Morrowind. Steel: Oblivion for basic, Skyrim for steel plate. Leather: Oblivion. Bonemold: Skywind. It mixes the best of both. Chitin: Skyrim. Elven: Skyrim, but only because the helm. Glass: Morrowind. Orcish: ESO. Especially the highest tier. Dwemer: Oblivion stylisticly, Skyrim thematically. Ebony: Skyblivion, or modded Skyrim. Daedric: Oblivion. Or the different kinds from ESO (that I STILL haven't collected yet...). Dragonscale: Skyrim. Morrowind's doesn't look like scales, it looks like a hedgehog's ass. Dragonbone: ESO. Guard: Morrowind. I always have to mod Skyrim guards.

One thing I hope out of Elder Scrolls 6 is a vast array of armor and weapons we can find and build. I’ve probably put thousands of hours into Skyrim but sometimes it gets stale with the few amount of amor sets in the game. I feel like level 100 smithing should give you access to multiple different level 100 types of armor and weapon sets. Personally a few hundred different sets of armor and weapons would keep the game feeling fresh for a long time.
