At moments like this i would love to show the international fandom what german content creators did with harry potter. Coldmirror is a absolute legend. Her oldest content is literally 10 years old (just checked the first video on her channel is fucking 16 years old :0) and the funniest shit i have ever seen. She’s still active and brings out so detailed and funny content most of the time harry potter related. I think some of her videos even have English subtitles so if you have time check her out :) Stuff like harry potter & ein stein and harry pottcast. i think everyone knows it went south, but it is pretty obvious *why* it went south. I cant blame them for it or say it's bad now or smth. It was a steady and strong rise in popularity and quality up until the prison arc. I don't think the quality of writing or acting went down, but the pace broke completely (and understandably so) and afterwards things just werent the same. Las Nevadas was it's last dying star, afterwards it just became a normal SMP again

Honestly I still try to watch Dsmp when it uploads. (I watch mainly from Tommy’s channel). But even I can agree the plot broke a lot after the prison arc. I even skipped a bit of the ending because even I felt uncomfortable with how desperate they got during a while. The Dreamsmp fandom absolutely carried that series and it continues to thrive even when there isn't any more canon content available. I've seen some incredible fan works, from music, to animation, digital and classical art, even fan games. You only have to look up Dsmp music and be amazed at the sheer talent this community has. Not to discredit the actual creators of the source material (Wilbur and Quackity are great storytellers), but some of stuff I've seen on that fandom? Way better than the original material. They take scraps and make absolute masterpieces out of them. Aside from the general toxicity and abhorrent behavior from some of the content creators, it's definitely one of the most talented fandoms I've seen around. (Also, can I just say that I LOVE hearing you infodump like this? It's genuinely so interesting hearing you talk about these topics)

as an mha fan, the thing that really got me into the fandom was fan content, fanfiction specifically. yeah, there’s some weird shit out there. there always is. but in my experience, the mha fandom has some of the most talented fanfic writers. mha has so many characters with different dynamics and such a unique world that the possibilities for fanfiction are literally endless. ship fics, found family, villain or vigilante au, you name it. is the anime bad? absolutely not! but i don’t think i would have gotten as attached to the characters if i didn’t read fanfiction, bc let’s face it, the manga/anime doesn’t expand on said characters as much as it probably should. i try to stay away from the crazy weird part of the fandom, and for the most part, id say that the chill part of the fandom is really nice to interact with, especially the part that discusses and promotes fanfiction. idk, maybe i’m actually weird and i’m just in denial or smth. but mha will always have a special place in my heart solely bc of the amazingly talented artists and authors in the fandom.

Yeah. My favorite character is Shirakumo. You know. The one that died in the spin-off series and is hardly seen in the main series. The fandom is the only way for me to get constant content for him lmao. I also liked Kurogiri the most before I read the spinoff, which is pretty ironic, and I was only able to get content about him from the fandom too. Like, the origins for a lot of the characters we like were just simple images or little blurbs, or people's OCs that got wildly popular and absorbed into the General Creepypasta Meta™. But that also meant that everyone had their own idea of each character and the dynamics between them, which meant it was easy to tailor make it into everything you liked and found fun. That game gave me chills just watching people play it, I have never been on the edge of my seat watching a horror game instead of playing it. Such a good fan game and should not be ignored. But like you said, the art people make i(gnoring the… interesting rule 34), and some stories people make (also ignoring the watpad type writing) it is so good. Okay, as a dream smp FAN, (not stan, don't make me into one of them) I totally agree that the fandom and fans are carrying the entirety of the smp in my opinion. They make the haha funny lore into actual heart wrenching content or look into the minor details, creating high quality animations and characters. Ever since the end of S1, people have been leaving the smp, like Phil and Ranboo, taking fans with them. Therefore, the smp will likely die out without the same motivated fans. Kinda sad, honestly.

I feel like the fandom as a whole is hard to be in, but when you get to the smaller, more niche parts of the fandom, it’s a lot better. My favorite character is Shirakumo, thus, I’ve interacted with the rooftop squad fandom a lot and they’re very chill. I think that comes from them only focusing on a small part of the main source. Undertale's probably my favorite fandom ever because it's become so much _bigger_ than its source material. Not better but, so, so much _bigger_ that there's a wholeass fan-made anime on youtube just about the alternate universes - and without shipping, for that matter! So you all can touch grass if you think shipping is the main appeal to our fandom, we have a wholeass shipless anime. We just want to watch overpowered monsters battle to the death and have existential crises. I'm proud of how unique our fandom has become. We have a safe timeline in the middle of the multiverse where refugees from genocide timelines can live, made by an omnipotent grayscale child, and the first resident of which being a goat dad. We have embodiments of positive emotions and negative emotions who wander the multiverse and take on the form of skeletons because there are _so fucking many_ skeleton outcodes. Speaking of outcodes, we have a destroyer and protector of worlds. We have so many -fell and -swap worlds that we have swapswapswap and fellfell and fellswap and swapfell, and fellswap gold, and swapfell indigo, and swapfell red, and fellswap x, etc. We have a nineties nightmare / Error's sleep paralysis demon / whatever the fuck Fresh is. We have a group of variants who are all from mixtures of two different universes. We have a gambling universe with a 200-page comic about how it got destroyed. We have ship kids who exist without ships, they literally just pop up in the multiverse regardless of if their 'parents' even know they exist, more like clones. We have soundtracks for games that don't exist. We have _Underverse_ which is a wholeass _anime_ and it's so cool. I will never apologize for being in this fandom, it's wonderful.

As an FNF fan you have a really good point. Creativity is run dry and there’s a good chance some or many fans will find the full game disappointing. I don't care for mods anyway (at least not by much). Besides, the devs don't really care about if mods "surpass" the base game, they just want to work on something that makes the people on Newgrounds happy. And if people find the full game "disappointing" when it releases, honestly I think that's their fault if they expect the full game to be the exact same as Indie Cross I guess (not a fan of that mod, but I can see why people love it so much).

As a dsmp fan i feel like it depends on the arcs and content creators you watch, when it peaked (imo) was when wilbur was writing it because it was fairly interesting. Somewhat short after like second exile for tommy I started consuming more fanon things than canon. Mainly because I wanted a happy ending and I currently hate the amnesia ending (MY OPINION) and wish it would've ended with dream dying or when he was put in prison. I just wanted a happy ending for the teenagers man. 😭

I agree mostly with the undertale one as the game is just on a completely different level However this fanbase has certainly kept the game and everything alive in-between the breaks between undertale and the deltarune chapters. From the uncountable amount of comic series, aus, animations (which nearly all are in the millions of views), and a hell of a lot of fangames, to even the music This fanbase has proved that it can match close to toby and pull it's weight Especially in the current era where everyone who first loved undertale has grown up and learned more skills, making the quality of fan made stuff even better

Thought this was more gonna be on like the weird sides of these communities which they all have but it still works. Here's the thing with the Pokemon Fandom: There's a good amount of unfunny memes. Besides that, there are a weirdly high number of people whose only interactions with the fandom (At least recently) are hating on the series. Personally not liking certain games is fine, but being so overbearing about it and not willing to respect other people's differing opinions is just annoying.

In my experience, saying ‘I still had a good time, despite the flaws’ had still been valid across the entire fandom. But you make it a different thing entirely when you put your hands over your ears and go ‘lalalala’ when people bear genuine critique and concern over how the mainline games are being handled. i know it wasn't on the list but the amount of content the homestuck fandom puts out is insane. a lot of fans worked on the actual comic as well as offshoots like pesterquest, not to mention the large amount of fan comics and other media. everyone in the community was and is so active even now. hell even i helped work a fan comic for a bit. not to mention its snuck its way into a lot of other things. i'm pretty sure you can find homestuck references in shows like adventure time and steven universe.

As someone who used to be a massive marvel (specifically Spiderman fan) it all went downhill after endgame. Spiderman no way home was good but i haven’t been interested in any movies out side of that. It’s heartbreaking as I grew up with marvel, writing fanfiction in middle probably saved my life (as embarrassing as that is to say). As soon as you said the found family fic i remember how good it used to be. Like i remember this one fic that I read sometime before Spiderman homecoming came out about Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield version I think) getting adopted by captain America because he’s like his great x 3 uncle or something. It’s probably not as good as I remember, I wish I knew the name so I could reread it.

It’s also crazy how many crazy fun creations people have made. Undertale Yellow, Deltatravaler, Underverse, Twin Runes, and the Chara Timeline just to name some of my favorites.

As somebody who's deep within the Fullmetal Alchemist fandom, those Harry Potter/FMA crossover fics are the GEMS of the fandom's fanfiction community, as well as a personal comfort genre/trope/dynamic for me. And writing inspiration? Because you're right in saying that the worldbuilding and the characterizations in these fics could be TOP NOTCH. Like you said, THOUSANDS of these things exist (it's a genre, fr fr) and I want to thank you for mentioning those. I not only grew up with them, but still actively enjoy a lot of them, because the ones that hit HIT SO HARD. Kudos to you, Kwite! Absolutely based take.

Also I want to put one of my own fandoms on this list: My Little pony would go on the left a bit, specifically if we're only talking about FIM. The show and fandom can be cringy and weird and dumb but the later seasons of mlp are very good especially for a kids show, but the fan content is unbelievable. There are some fan animations like SnowDrop and double rainboom that came pretty close to show quality, but then there's stuff like Lullaby for a Princess and children of the night which blow me away even to this day. Also fanfics like Past Sins and all the fandom stuff that became canon (like Derpy) and then there's the mlp creepypastas that kinda got their own fandom. I loved them as a kid and even though they may be 'cringe' now they inspired a lot of spin-off fanfics and fanart. Also there were just a fuck-ton of fan songs. My entire childhood was consumed by every generation of mlp and I could go on all day.

Dream’s fandom specifically is terrible, but I’m in some of the communities that surround the guy (sleepy bois inc, aka Philza, Tommyinnit, WilburSoot and Technoblade) and their respective communities (besides Phil) They’re nice. Dream and the DreamSMP ones suck, but the fandoms of those 4 + others like Ranboo and Tubbo’s community are nice, and the fanfiction (now hear me out) is good. Not the terrible shit that most Fanfics are seen as, it’s like actual stories like you’d see in a book. Not as good at the videos usually but they’re AMAZING still. there’s some amazing fan content (ofc there IS bad too, but theres a lot more good surprisingly, people just call out the bad more often cuz it’s funny), I’d probably put it on the sonic side, a little bit before the middle. Like a third of the way from Star Wars to Sonic. It’s surprisingly good. Similar thing with Undertale fan content. The Fan Games and AUs are AMAZING! There’s a few odd things out, but you have amazing animators like Dorked with their animated series Inverted Fate, or UnderEvent which is like E3 but for Undertale Fan Games, Comics, Etc. almost None of the fan games that have been made for it are finished but they’re AMAZING! Undertale Yellow, Inverted Fate, Bits and Pieces, Comics, Ask Blogs, Fanart, etc. there’s amazing shit and a lot of it is at LEAST on the same level as Undertale. I’d put it around the middle still though because Undertale itself is ALSO really good.

I will say that I do agree on your assessment of Pokémon, but the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series I would probably put higher than Pokémon in general. Especially with all the new customized rom hacks coming out thanks to SkyTemple. It’s such a passionate community and it’s great seeing all the stuff coming out of it! Also, I love the Mystery Dungeon soundtrack that you put in your videos, Kwite. It’s nice seeing one of my favourite game series acknowledged for its wonderful soundtrack.
