The "I am a Rock" arc is one of my favourite arcs in all of JoJo and is a great introduction to the main group of villains in JoJolion, the symbolism of the song "I am a Rock" within the arc itself (e.g. the flashback starting in a deep and dark December) is incredibly clever and I applaud Araki for it

I'm just gonna come right out and say it. My favourites are Vitamin C, Ozone Baby, Milagro Man and maybe Wonder of U. Jojolion really excels in ending its arc either terribly or brilliantly. I Am a Rock and Doobie Wah are two examples of not having necessarily amazing content, but rather an amazing twist ending and climax. Also, can we have some love for the intro arc? It's a really unique first arc compared to the rest of the series, and I love the condensed mystery of the apartment surrounded by the greater mysteries that are forced upon us. A perfect start to the part. Edit: I completely forgot. THE BEETLE FIGHT IS TOP 3 NO EXAGGERATION!

Milagro Man is my absolute favorite cuz of how we get to see Joshu’s inner workings. The dude is simultaneously the most reprehensible yet sympathetic character to me cuz the man isn’t inherently evil, he just makes a lot of really shitty decisions without thinking. Doobie Wah! is also pretty great to me cuz of Aisho as a character and how lethal the stand is…

i feel bad for people who read month by month. i read wonder of u all at once, and it was the most i've been engaged in a story in a while. it was a top 5 jojo fight for me, but if you read monthly you lost the tension between each chapter, and people were in such anticipation that they expected more than what they got. hopefully the disappointed people don't ruin jojolion's reputation like with part 6.

While I already knew it wasn't the most popular opinion when it comes to Jojolion arcs, this video really makes me more deeply think about why exactly it is I have California King Bed in my top 5 favourite arcs (5th place). I'll never forget the beginning of the fight, where Daiya talks about fairness and rules, and then explicitly TELLS and SHOWS Josuke the extremely specific weakness of her stand. I thought it beautifully set up the extreme tension this fight had. Firstly, CKB is absolutely terrifying. Not only thematically relevant to the part as a whole, its ability is very interesting. The idea of slowly loosing your sense of sense by losing your memories; the terror of KNOWING that something is missing but not being able to recall what - especially for an amnesiac like Josuke, is immense. And the fact that this is all happening to you because of an almost blind girl, leaning against the table, shuffling around in her closet, trying to bike to the store, doing all these innocent things (ignoring motive for now of course, I'll get to that) juxtaposes the situation you're in so much, which I believe adds to the horror. Secondly, Daiya herself is very interesting. We start to get hints about the equivalent exchange, with her acquiring her unique-looking stand but losing her vision, and I think she was also the best Higashikata member to really dive into first, because after the arc, it really gets you wondering just what all the other members have to hide. If Daiya is so unassuming at first with a scary stand, what about Norisuke? What about Kei? The tension in what you are expecting to see out of the other members of the household is something that persists throughout a large portion of Jojolion. Now, her motive... While of course it's a sour spot of her character and the arc; the whole making a boy toy out of Josuke is something I'm very glad was overcame by him and dropped in favour of Daiya simply having a crush; I can't say in the moment it didn't have me on the edge of my seat. Josuke was SO close to losing right then and there. So close in fact, that on my first read-through I genuinely thought that we were gonna get a plot point where Yasuho comes to realize what is wrong with Josuke, and be the one to save him herself by tricking Daiya into returning his memories. Plus, I think the "idea of happiness" part of her motive is actually quite endearing, it's just the execution that was unagreeable. The concept of one's idea happiness is another recurring theme throughout the part that really starts with this arc. Lastly, the fight is TENSE. As Aeonstar said, the bait and switch of this fight is really good. It plays nicely in rules of threes, with the locations of the bedroom, front gate, and kitchen - each taking one memory from Josuke - giving the fight a nice sense of progression. The fight overall is structurally really solid. Like I said before, Daiya letting Josuke know how to beat her at the beginning gives the fight a different type of tension than the usual puzzle-box fights in jojo. Instead of finding out how the enemy stand works, we skip right to the application step, and instead it is Daiya - the enemy stand user - who is left wondering just how her opponent's stand works, right until the very end. But Daiya also tells Josuke how she will beat him: by getting him to fuss over her. This balance of rules, trying to trick the other into fulfilling the conditions they know are in place; the lightswitch, the bike, the fridge - all in the context of a seemingly innocent, honestly low-stakes setting to the eyes of someone without the context - I can't get enough. And maybe I was getting too sucked-into the fight, but I was just as tricked by Josuke playing with the sound of the fridge closing as Daiya was. It feels all completely fair too, as Soft & Wet storing sounds was established already during the fight - so he even played by "rules". Which makes this, if I'm not mistaken, a COMPLETE VICTORY. Just a great arc. Okay wow I was not expecting for this to be this long, kudos to anyone who read all my ramblings about why I like this arc so much. Have a great day and stay safe :)

Vitamin C was so good. Domo was a great villain, and Araki sold the reader on the idea of a family intruder really well. I don't remember a lot of the middle of the part after Vitamin C to the end, but I THINK I agreev with you. Honestly, Jojolion lost a lot of direction after the Fruit Mafia was defeated and we knew about Josuke's history as Josefumi and Kira. There were ups and down afterwards, I don't think it was a straight decline, but the lack of direction hurt the part and the ending felt kind of like a nonsequiter. I feel like Tooru being an out of nowhere final villain was SUPPOSED to parallel Kira in part 4 not being related to any villains or arcs before his introduction, But he was built up, developed, and given time to be a presence in the audience's mind way longer than Tooru, making him a much more justified final villain. The last arcs of part 8 fell super flat.

I just can’t agree with PMD’s ranking. Paper Moon King is pretty scary. The introduction is also ridiculous while yea yasuho suffers too much for what it is that introduction did a lot to her. She really thought she lost it. And it was one of the rare times where nobody came to her rescue, pretty tellin getting outsmarted by a kid like that. Also pretty lucky tsugi just wanted to chill 🤷🏽‍♂️. I think it’s an A tier arc
