This is an interesting ranking. Gotta be honest, I didn't even know there was a fan made film. This is a franchise that I kind of lost interest in after a while. I've seen 1 -7 and just never had the desire to continue, although I did see Freddy vs Jason. Out of the ones that I have seen I think Part 2, Part 4, and Part 6 were my favorites.

In Friday the 13th the only point to all the women nudity is to cater to the male gaze. Adds nothing to the story whatsoever and unless it’s shot tastefully I consider it lazy and creepy filmmaking.

The fan movie... numero uno? :o I mean, I admit it was a lot of fun and very well done for a fan made movie, but I dunno, it isn’t reeeaaally a Friday the 13th movie - whatever that means. That said, if you liked it most, you gotta go with your heart. Jason X is pretty abysmal lol. I get that it’s kind of fun though, in a bad movie kinda way. All the sets looks like they’ve been built out of styrofoam for a space-set budget TV sitcom, and being one of the first (if not the first) digitally shot movie doesn’t do it any favours, but it does have that awesome frozen face-smash kill, and cool Cronenberg cameo. My fave is probably part 2 or part 4, and I really like 3D (which you ranked 12th! lol) while I totally agree the effect is very gratuitous - I found that kind of fun, being poked at with junk. To each their own and all that. That’s why ranking is fun. :) I guess mine is: Part II The Final Chapter Part III Friday the 13th (original) Friday the 13th (remake) Part VII: The New Blood Freddy VS. Friday The 13th-Manhattan was my first Jason. I saw it in the theater when I was 9. I always thought it should’ve been called “Semester At Sea” or something. It, as you mentioned, almost all took place on the boat. It’s my favorite as it was my first, but I rewatched it a few months ago and it really doesn’t hold up.

I was surprised, I knew you really enjoyed part 4 and I thought for sure it would be your #1 but you made good points as to why your #1 was the fan made film. It was pretty good. Iam soo happy to see someone else sees JASON TAKES MANHATTEN as a decent film. It ain't perfect and with a bigger budget of 14 million which was the original budget. They would of got more of NYC like Hedden said. They still made something different and apart from the ending. I thought it was a good film. The score and soundtrack was one of tje better ones thanks to Mollin. And the shot in Times square was amazing. Even though iam 15 i find Rennie to be so good looking. She is probably one of tje weaker final girls though. Its her hallucinations and that bad ending to a decent movie for me. Her best shot was running Jason over but the rest she was just a mediocre charecter. Julius was badass and the boxing scen was legendary. It is 6th for me. Here is the rest and tell me what you think 12 JASON GOES TO HELL (Bad not even a friday film but the effects and Debbies kill was awsomme. Rest was to like a bad religious film) 11 A NEW BEGINNING (Nice twist not much different to first 4 even tho it had a new setting. Kills where great but a few lame close ups.) 10 JASON X(Very fun and awsomme gore. Too silly and just not a good film) 9 THE NEW BLOOD (Awsomme special effects and the best in the series. MPAA where just absolute idiots and neesed to alow an uncut later on as the kills where weak except Russel and Michael. Jason looked awsomme but the charecters where just lame and walking stereotypes. Dr Crews was cruel and was so happy when he eas killed but coming after Jason Lives it was just dull.) 8 FRIDAY THE 13TH (2009)( One of the better reboots of the 2000s reboot craze) 7 FREDDY VS JASON(Charecters where mediocre but Litman was nice and Kia turned alot less bitchy at the end. It was very 2000s but the final 20 mins where the golden point. Lori was not that bad but her Freddy past thing didn't make sense. I really liked it when she blew then both away kn fire and the way they pitched them both together was not bad of an idea.) 6 JASON TAKES MANHATTEN (Underrated and had a very different and crazy plot. Ending was a step down along with the hallucinations and make up effects on Jason. Rest was good and was gonna ne even better with the original budget but paramount where cheap and lazy burks.) 5 FRIDAY THE 13TH 1980 (Classic MRS Voorhees twist and it kick starts summer camp slasher films) 4 F13 PART 2(Final chase was the best scene in the movie and Ginny rocked as final girl and is one of my fav girls of horror) 3 F13 PART 3D( Jason dons tje mask for the first time and Chris was a great final girl. The first scene with the mask on the Dock was iconic. Charecters could of been better but my fav was Shelly.) 2 JASON LIVES (I LOVE THIS MOVIE. soundtrack with COoper was a great choice MEgan is very attractive and my fav final girl of the series. I love the ending and it ends a great slasher film.) 1 THE FINAL CHAPTER (The perfect friday 13th film with JImmy dancing and the nice looking twins. The effects by savini were top notch. And the brother and sister final duo with Tommy was tense and worked well. Its definitely the perfect friday film ever. And i love it.)

From memory... 1. Jason Lives (Recurring character) 2. New Blood (I genuinely thought this was supposed tp be a Firestarter crossover at first because I didn't realize Carrie is not the girl from Firestarter... But hey, telekinesis...) 3. Final Chapter (Final Chapter my ass... Anyway, it was fun watching a Goonie goon all over Freddy) 4. Freddy v Jason (other films aren't as good?) 5. New Beginning (Recurring character but alternate universe? This movie doesn't make any sense when you watch it between Final Chapter and Jason Lives) 6. Part 2 (Better than the first film) 7. Jason X (Sci-Fi/Horror Jason movie? Yes, please) 8. Friday the 13th (Original (It's disappointing to learn that Jason wasn't even in this, but... Whatever... It's alright, I guess) 9. Remake (It's not a good movie... At all... Michael Bay horror movies are a travesty... But Jason is a beast in this, and that's cool. And it skipped past the first film and is technically sequel and got right to Jason) 10. Part 3 (Jason gets his mask... And the one person I didn't want to die got a fucking spear shot through her face... Which I guess makes the movie better because it took risks... Somewhat... Didn't care for the actual main character at all, though) 11. Jason Takes Manhattan (He didn't take Manhattan, which is why this movie is so far down... Also, why did Jason turn into a kid when he got splashed with acid?) 12. Jason Goes to Hell (When I first saw the cover and title of this movie I was excited to see a badass fucking movie where Jason fought through the trenches of hell and massacred demons to fight his way back to the real world and actually take Manhattan (And I guess die again because he needs to be dead for Freddy v Jason)... I didn't get any of that... Instead, I somehow got worse acting, writing, and pacing than the remake, as well as a major time jump from Part 8 to this... Oh but hey, Necronomicon from Evil Dead 2... Confirming three book theory before the AoD comics confirmed it... And the Freddy and Jason movies take place in one of the AoD comics timelines, too... So that makes them Evil Dead multiverse canon, which in turn makes them canon with the Marvel Multiverse and also Hack/Slash, Re/Animator, Vampirella, Xena the Warrior Princess, and many, MANY more characters. Comics are crazy, man) Edit: Overall, I was (mostly) impressed with the continuity of the films, and especially of Jason. From Part 3 onward (minus New Beginning and everything after Jason Takes Manhattan), Jason starts in exactly the same place he ended up in the previous films, which helped tie the films together a little bit even if the stories and characters were largely disconnected. And the actual continuity on the damage that Jason had taken throughout the films was also really good. There is some nice attention to detail, which is more than I can say for the Elm Street and Evil Dead series when it comes to continuity. Though the cabin in Ash vs Evil Dead is exactly as it is in Evil Dead 2, so that's really good. And Ash vs Evil Dead also plays with continuity a lot, especially when it makes jokes about continuity errors between films. I'm not really talking about Friday the 13th anymore, but still. The series has some pretty good fucking continuity.

Absolutely, I love that they stripped the story of any stereotypes and tropes and added more realism to it. It’s also the most deliberately artistic film by a mile. The original films are formulaic and too predictable besides maybe pt 4

Hey, Kylie! So I know exactly what you mean. I have trouble ranking this franchise too. My list changes frequently for this franchise, not sure why. Question for you, did you watch all these movies alone? I found that when I watched these movies alone vs when I watched them with other people, my list changed a bit. Also, watching them high or drunk will probably change your list significantly too haha. Friday the 13th part 3D has a great drinking game..I definitely think re-watching each one helped me a lot with my list, maybe if and when you re-watch them, try adding some kind of new constant. Maybe that will help you feel better about your list, and you can say definitively how you'd rank them! Although, for the record, I love your list, and how/why you ranked these films. This was an interesting one that ends up being different from most lists. I'm always happy to see people who share my opinion that 3 is kind of overrated. An iconic moment or two doesn't make up for how bad the rest of the movie is especially since it's sandwiched between Part 2 and 4 which I think are two of the best. Also that rapey Jason scene is just wtf. Jason Takes Manhattan is pretty bad but I get it as a guilty pleasure. I like how you point out the problematic bits in these movies without condemning the movies. I wish certain people would understand that we can talk about certain things being wrong without meaning we want to censor those things.

12. Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan - Put Jason in New York until the last 20-30 minutes when most of those scenes were filmed in Vancouver. 1/10 11. Part 5: A New Beginning - Most of the characters are just there to die and trying something new is in this movie, but I didn't like that path it went. 1/10 10. Part 3D - Aside from Jason getting his hockey mask and the great second half of the movie, the first half was just boring and it doesn't get the ball rolling until Jason got his hockey mask. 2/10 9. Jason Goes to Hell - I actually like that they tried something new and original, but it doesn't make this movie make any sense. Having Jason become a body snatching parasite was pretty stupid and the way Jason resurrects was stupid as well because if he could resurrect fully from his dead half sister's corpse, why didn't do that in the first time when he encountered the news anchor?! We would've at least seen more of Jason. 3/10 8. 2009 Remake - I have mixed feelings for this one. 5/10 7. Part 2 - It's the first time that they introduced Jason as the killer, so it's good for what it was. 6/10 6. Jason X - I get that it's stupid to have Jason in space, but it's very entertaining as hell to watch. 6/10 5. Part 6: Jason Lives - If I can forget the fact that Tommy was the reason Jason is alive, this is a solid movie for me. 7/10 4. Part 1 - It's a classic, people. 7/10 3. Freddy vs Jason - Great kills and great fight scenes, but had the worst characters I've ever seen. 7.5/10 2. Part 7: The New Blood - The greatest Jason I've ever seen with great kills. 8/10 1. Part 4: The Final Chapter - You all know why. Fun characters, one of the best Jasons, and of course, Corey Feldman as Tommy Jarvis was a great actor and character. 9/10 There you go. If you have shudder check out the documentary on the franchise. It's almost 7 hours but it's broken down to chapters and definitely gives you a feeling for why some of them older flicks have the plot holes they do. Not a bad ranking I love the remake so I would have had that higher. The 1st 15 minutes of that movie is slasher horror at it's best in my opinion.

Part 8 is one of my favorites but it should have been two different movies. Part 8 should have just been the boat and part 9 should have been Jason takes Manhattan with 90 minutes of actual Manhattan.
