Definitely some odd behavior from that Forest Hills rep. That said, just so you don’t get into any hot water with a bigger studio, most reps really do frown upon you watching screeners with others. Some actually have legal instructions that you have to watch it alone. When I got screeners for Last of Us I practically had to geotag my location for the FBI. Lmao

this has personally been my favorite year for horror so far this decade, a lot of 2022 releases really didn’t click for me but i think the genre is back at full power again and it’s so nice. art in general has hit a massive renaissance to me personally in 2024 from music to tv shows too

Nice ranking! The burp queen has returned! Loved the shout out to the movies you worked on! Can’t wait to see them! But I mostly watched the movies that were 3 1/2 stars and up on this list cuz I’m all about taste lol I actually saw a lot of these on the list cuz I’m all about horror lol I even saw night swim! but that forest hills debacle was crazy weird lol don’t see that everyday. See how your influence really exists! Drives people crazy lol I actually agree that tarot was fun and good gateway horror! I agree with your heart review lol but I was definitely taken with I saw the tv glow. The ending was the most compelling part to me and saved the film for being worthy of your time What’s not worth your time is in a violent nature hahah that was probably my least favorite of the year. But late night with the devil might have been my favorite theatrical experience of last year! Funny how the shudder output is all over the quality spectrum. I didn’t really see many of the sequels except for beetle juice and alien Romulus but Maxxxine was definitely the biggest let down of the year seeing as it was so highly anticipated. The biggest surprise for me last year was strange darling! Great theater experience and totally the kinda vibe I’m into lol This is my top 10: 1 the substance 2 strange darling 3 late night with the devil 4 Terrifier 3 5 alien Romulus 6 immaculate 7 I saw the tv glow 8 Nosferatu 9 longlegs 10 Maxxxine But yeah, no surprise that the substance tops your list haha it’s mine as well! Haven't watched a lot of those films. But from the ones i did catch my top ten: Longlegs Infested Terrifier 3 Alien romulus Cuckoo Nosferatu Immaculate Tarrot The first omen (honestly probably under ranked but i had just watched immaculate and wasnt feeling this as much) Smile 2 (i enjoyed the first one so much more ) I still plan on watching oddity and the substance im sure those will be highly rated for me as well. As always im surprised so many movies released this year

the first 75% of Alien Romulus was an A+ but I thought the movie went a bit off the rails at the end. Still looking forward to a sequel. Beetlejuice was great though. Sadly those were the only 2024 horror movies I watched last year.

Yes the nosferatu fans are so toxic, I had to leave the Rodger Eggers sub reddit because of the bullying for saying I wasn't a fan of the over acting from LRD and ATJ. I'm also thinking of leaving the a24 reddit too because you can't say anything negative about any film without being attacked for it 😂😅 Maybe reddit is the problem though. The substance subreddit and Terrifier one are great though 😂

The top Strange Darling reviews on Letterboxd really annoy me. Calling out the 35mm thing and giving it 1.5 stars, like... wtf did you actually think about the *movie*? Or are you just choosing to trash it based on one extremely insignificant thing that isn't even a part of the actual movie? It had a 3.9 even after wide release, but has dipped all the way down to 3.5, and I believe it's due to all 3 of the top reviews being so negative. Never seen that with such a well-rated movie.

Nice list.. didn't see a ton, still a few I plan on checking out, but The Substance was definitely my favorite.. I also liked In A Violent Nature, it was like a throwback paying homage, some of it didn't hit but overall I enjoyed it.. I thought Immaculate was solid, but 2 things "ruined" it for me personally.. I remember there being like 5 cheap jump scares in the first 20 minutes lol, pet peeve plus they were unnecessary imo.. but I remember the crazy hype and marketing about the ending, so I was interested to see if the hype was real.. I thought the ending was fine, but I personally didn't think it was worthy of that hysteria.. if there was no overhyped marketing I would've viewed the whole film differently, so maybe that's on me, but I still ultimately enjoyed it and wasn't bored with it, and I thought Sydney Sweeney was fine.. Late Night with the Devil was a great concept but lost steam imo.. I remember everyone freaking out over AI being used in a movie, which was understandable, but I didn't realize that it was this one until after I saw it.. all I'll say about AI is that I think it's completely unnecessary in most cases, extremely dangerous, and its use in cinema is truly the least of my worries when it comes using it, but I obviously understand why any creative person would be loudly against it.. I thought Longlegs was okay, but I'll admit I've never been the biggest detective/serial killer fan besides Silence of the Lambs and Se7en.. and I thought the new Strangers was going to be released like the Fear Street films were, probably should've went that route, not that it would make it any better ha.. I liked the first 20 minutes of Maxxxine but then it fell off for me.. and I saw Beetlejuice 2 last week, meh but I don't even really care for the OG.. but not enough people talk about how they lifted the Carrie theme song and did a Carrie homage with the "dream turns into a nightmare" ending, it was jarring and threw me off but I appreciated it.. also recently saw Trap, not made for me, but I'm down to see Hartnett make a comeback.. and I plan on watching Terrifier 3 this week, can't wait!

My top ten. 1 the Substance, Alien Romulus, Nosferatu, Heretic, Hush( yes it’s the first time I have seen it), Late Night with the Devil, Trap, Smile 2, Terrifier 3, Lisa Frankenstein ( sure I’m a guy but I have girls and I thought it was so cute) We should have Lisa Frankenstein for a watchalong around Valentines Day. 👍 Gee there are a few of your top movies I have not seen. But I add them to my Kylie recommendations list. 😁 Always. I find our likes and not so likes ( I don’t use Dislike too often ) are pretty close. You just have a sensible way of looking at things. We watch movies to enjoy them. Sometimes it just doesn’t hit the spot. But who knows on a rewatch that can change. It’s just a good way to look at it. Oh, can’t wait to See “Liked” I’ve always wanted to have some part in the making of a film. I know my contribution to the film was appreciated. I am SO behind on movies and I never realize it until I see these lists. I had forgotten all about Imacculate, First Omen, Oddity and Cuckoo. I guess I have homework, haha. I will say that Maxxxine was probably my biggest disappointment. I was so looking forward to that 80s vibe and a slasher and what we got was predictable and boring. I almost walked out at the 40 minute mark and I never do that. The Substance was the stand out for me as well and was NO WHERE on my radar. It just hit different.

Top 10 for me of new horror I watched for the first time in 2024: 1. Last Night in Soho (4.5 ⭐️) 2. Alien: Romulus (4 ⭐️) 3. Misery (4 ⭐️) 4. P2 (4 ⭐️) 5. A Quiet Place Day One (4 ⭐️) 6. Speak No Evil (4⭐️ Never seen the OG) 7. Saw X (4 ⭐️) 8. Lisa Frankenstein (4 ⭐️) 9. Blink Twice (4 ⭐️) 10. The People Under the Stairs (4 ⭐️) And sadly I think I'm in the minority for Longlegs. It just did not appeal to me at all, and I was just confused and disappointed by the end of it. I still gave it 3 stars though. I had no idea MadS had no hidden cuts. That's absolutely insane. Anyway my number 1 is noferatu and it's not recency bias!! I liked the performances in the substance and it definitely resonated with lots of people but it was really derivative and boring to me. Went exactly where I expected from minute 1. Nosferatu fans got nothing on the defensiveness of the substance fans tho. They really aren't ok with me feeling it's mediocre. My top movie of the year is Anora so ya, I'm also kinda basic but it made me feel things and laugh ok?! Also this was my introduction to your videos so... subbed.

Last year was a pretty good year for horror. There were so many horror movies that it was hard to keep track of. Of course, some stood out more than others. I saw a few of them that I really enjoyed and loved. Here are my top 8 that I've watched so far. 8. Trap (for entertainment reasons and its Shyamalan 7.I Saw The TV Glow 6.Nosferatu( I enjoyed it as a cinematic experience and the visuals and gonna give it another go) 5. Infected ( Really good creature feature with a deep and moving ending) 4.Oddity 3.Longlegs ( Holy Shit I Was Not Expecting It The Twist And Turns this movie took. It's a shame Nicholas Cage Wasn't Nominated) 2.Late Night With The Devil ( Really Good Horror Movie David Dastmalchian can do no wrong, in my opinion). 1. The Substance(What can I say that hasn't already been said about this movie it was awesome and a good visual and cinematic experience) There are more I need to see but haven't got around to yet. But I will eventually see it when I can. If it helps, when it comes to current movies, you're way ahead of the curve, then I am. Cause I know sometimes you beat yourself up for not watching older movies, but that's OK. You're part of the present where certain movies are good and popular.
