Great Idea fr. Top 3- Year 2: 1.Differentiation (Differenating trig func + Chain rule + Product rule was very fun and gave alot of marks but a pain to finish) 2.Numerical Methods (Done this in 24 hours and its intresting) 3.Radians (Short and Sweet) Year 1: 1.Trignometric Identies and Equations (Not too short, not too long and not too easy and not too hard. The best chapter out of all) 2.Integration (Unlike anything we've ever seen before and gave alot of marks) 3.Binomial Expansion (One of the easiest and intresting chpaters)

I watched your video after posting mine - great ranking! As you can see I weighted the amount of content in the module quite heavily in my ranking... And I loved where you ranking Statistics from the normal A-Level haha, couldn't agree more.
@rtwodrew24 ай бұрын
@@BicenMaths Yeah difficulty and amount of content weren't criteria considered when making my list, which I think almost entirely explains the difference in placements
@BicenMaths4 ай бұрын
@@rtwodrew2 Agreed! For the record, here is how I would rank them in enjoyment and content: (haven't ranked on challenge as I think that's very, very objective, but definitely FP2 is up there for challenge!) Enjoyment: S: FP2 (groups and number theory >>>>) A: FM1, FS1, FP1, D2 B: FM2 (agree there's too much centre of mass), FS2 (correlation and regression is... too boring) C: D1 D: Volume of content (higher rankings for smaller modules): S: FM1, FM2 A: D2 B: FS1, FS2, FP2 C: D: FP1, D1Volume of content (higher rankings for smaller modules): S: FM1, FM2 A: D2 B: FS1, FS2, FP2 C: D: FP1, D1

for fm1 does it heavily build up on the a level mechanics concepts or is it just the yr 2 friction & forces topic thats needed as prior information for fm1?
@BicenMaths4 ай бұрын
It's just friction and forces - and I think in Chapter 2 of FM1 I have a video or two at the start of the playlist getting people up to speed on it - can be done very quickly!

Hi, thanks for the video. I have a question if you don’t mind. My school is doing FS1 and FP1 modules. We’ve finished FS1 which was great but now we’re starting FP1 and I’m thinking it might not be a good fit for me because I am very much inclined towards mechanics and I also think it’s better since it helps strengthen normal alevel maths. The FP1 module is also much more chapters and higher grade boundaries. My teacher has given me the option to take the FM1 module instead BUT I have to self teach it. Should I do this or learn FP1 with the rest of the class? Let me know if you need more info. Thank you.
@BicenMaths3 күн бұрын
It's difficult to say - there would be many benefits of studying alongside your class - from shared studying, a teacher who can guide you, working together, same assessments, etc. which can all be really useful. However, if you start FP1 and are finding it very challenging, then perhaps you can do FM1 alongside it? I know of students who have sat 3 option modules, and the best 2 are used in your final grade, so this is also a possibility. It would depend on how much work you have from other subjects! Have you spoken to any other adults that you trust to give you good advice?

Im taking FM1 and D1, would you recommend swapping D1 for something else like S1? im doing computer science and physics aswell for a level
@BicenMaths4 ай бұрын
I think that's a good combination! When I put D1 low down, it doesn't mean I think it is a bad module at all, just wasn't my personal preference. It's still really interesting and you can of course be very successful at it! It works well with CompSci too.
@annabelwhittle4 ай бұрын
hi sir ! which combination for option modules do you think is the most difficult and the easiest ?
@BicenMaths4 ай бұрын
It really does depend on your individual preferences, but if you look at the document that I have linked in the description, you'll see a summary that will help you to think about what is most important to you - whether the module is lots of content, relies on other knowledge, etc. For me personally, I think a classic combo that I usually recommend is FS1 and FM1 - but I know many others would also suggest FP1 too, I just think it has a lot more content in it than other modules! I'd say the hardest is probably getting one of the 2 modules involved... but then again, the more you do of something, the easier it gets! As you can see, there isn't really an answer to your question, as I keep changing my mind whilst writing this comment haha

@DarkKittens1234 ай бұрын
I did D1 a few years ago and honestly it’s really bad imo. A lot of it is just memorising algorithms and plugging numbers and stuff and doing a lot of mental maths. Luckily it’s not similar to uni discrete maths at all it’s just a one off boring topic

you should add cp1 cp2, and normal maths pure, stats and mechanics.

FM1 and FM2 I HIGHLY disagree with only because I never understood mechanics in general however FS1 and currently studying FS2 are amazing I’m definitely more of a statistician rather than a mechanic when it comes to maths
@BicenMaths4 ай бұрын
I know the reason I love mechanics so much… I did loads of the mechanics modules when I was 18 (back when there were 5 mechanics modules, I think I did them all?) and was taught really well, and it’s just stuck with me - when I would prepare to teach something in mechanics as a teacher, the content just flooded back so quickly - which I think is a sign of being well taught! If it’s taught badly though, it’s really, really tough! So pleased that you’re enjoying stats so far - which chapter are you currently working on? Good to hear from you, keep me updated!
@khan99ish4 ай бұрын
@@BicenMaths currently on chapter 6-7 on FS2 so the more trickier parts of stats with t and F distributions and when to use them I agree with you though on chapter 1 and 2 being more cumbersome with regression and correlation! Nice to hear from you again sir!
@BicenMaths4 ай бұрын
You’re at the hard part, but once you figure out which distribution to use when, you’ll be set! It’s so interesting, I loved learning how we can make predictions from sampling a population. Let me know if you ever need anything!
