I know results day was two weeks ago but I have to say this I was on an E throughout year12 (maths didn’t come to me naturally) and my teacher was either never in or when they were in didn’t teach the class properly therefore everyone in my class were on Es and Us throughout year12. In year13 I decided i have to change stuff in order to get a good grade in maths. That’s when I found your channel. I watched all your videos aswell as do past papers closer to the exam and I got a B in the real exam!! I know a B wouldn’t be great for many but for me, it was amazing especially considering maths didn’t come to me naturally. All the people in my class who relied on the teacher got an E or a U in their real exam and those who I recommended your videos too all got Bs and Cs. Your work is amazing and I will definitely stay subbed. 🙏

I got 293 in the FM ultramarathon! I ended up being scored on Pure 1 and Decision 1, I got a few full marks modules, but I ended up dropping 7 marks on core pure 1 and 2 combined so it was gonna be 293 no matter what combo

This is amazing sir, and proves how far a proper understanding of the content can take you! Very humbling of you to put yourself through the same experience as your students (even more intense, since you did all the option papers!). Apart from the official Pearson textbooks, where would you recommend getting extra exam style practice for A Level Further Maths? I can't find any workbooks and I don't want to do all the past paper questions now and leave none for later (I've only just started Year 12). Thank you! It was indeed a humbling experience, I also found it very interesting. As for the exam practise, I have heard good things about ZigZag education papers, which are similar in style to past paper, but I think these might be paid for... you can also have a look at other exam boards if you are saving up the past papers - but to be honest, there are a lot of them, so getting started with them isn't a bad idea! Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

The mark could go down, but no way can it drop that many marks that your grade would drop! I would ask for advice from your exams officer and maths teachers - they will be well placed to advise you on this. I'm sorry you missed it by 2 marks, that boundary for FM was insanely high, all because of that FP1 paper. I hope that you get it sorted, good luck!

Make sure you return to things that you thought were easy/OK when you first learned them - you might find that when you try a question on it again, you've forgotten many parts. So keep revising content you have learned as you go!

If you need that A* to go to uni then do it, from what I'm aware, they can't lower your grade if you get a lower remarked (make sure to look into that first), so you don't really have a lot to lose

3 marks is hard to gain from remarks, but possible - hopefully your teachers have given you some good advice on this. It's not really possible to lose that many marks to drop a grade, so that's not an option in my view. Good luck!

Hi bicen, long story short but i noticed my passion for math at end of year 11 and how much i liked it. I wasnt able to get in the grade 8-9 range, but ended at a 7. I couldnt get further math (only regular math )spot for a level , as my school required 8. Since i really want to do it. Do you think is possible to negotitate with my teachers/school to accept me for further math sliding in with grade 7, i really love math, and want to do beyond a level math

That’s really hard to say! I have had other students in the past who weren’t able to join a FM course, so they self-studied and asked the school to do some of the assessments to show that they were motivated and capable. Possibly an option! I would speak to your teachers when you get to school this week, and if need be, get your parents to contact the school too. Good luck!

What do you mean by the papers getting more "accessible"

Good question! In the past, some questions would have been worth 10 marks, without many subparts to the question - meaning that if you weren't sure where to get started, you'd likely lose 10 marks. Now, they have become easier to access marks, with subparts of questions added to guide you through, and now with more 'show that' questions. These kinds of things allow more students to get access to marks that they can do, hence me calling them accessible :) Hope that helps!

@@BicenMaths They used to be called CSYS (Certificate of Sixth Year Studies) but are called Advanced Higher in 2024. Essentially they are for 6th year students (last year) and are more difficult than English A-levels. They would probably be similar to 1st year university level. Be great if you could attempt a couple of the papers to see what you think.

It wasn't easy but the questions were pretty much all show that, so u have a sense of what to do.

The paper lacked any significant problem solving/puzzle/challenge type question, so it came down to being accurate, which meant that the boundary rocketed. Not a well designed paper, at all :(
