one of my favorite moments in the entire franchise is in H4 when that Sheriff is sitting in the rocking chair and you see michaels face pop out of the shadows for a split second and fade back into the darkness, so many people didn't see it back than but i did and it scared the shit outta me, back then you basically had to rent/buy the vhs tape fast forward to that part and find it yourself

Halloween H20 is my favorite! In my opinion it’s the best one & I could watch that a trillion times & never be bored or get tired of it.

Good ranking, I agree with your thoughts on a lot of these films. My personal ranking would be: 1. Halloween '78 (easily the best and one of my favorite horror movies in general) 2. Halloween 2 (has always been my favorite sequel) 3. Halloween H20 (was a satisfying conclusion) 4. Halloween 3 (this movie has it's problems, but I respect it for trying to do something different with the franchise. There's a part of me that wonders what this franchise would be like if they had continued this route instead of bringing Michael Myers back) 5. Halloween 2018 (this was decent, but I only saw it once and didn't love it as much as everyone else seems to) 6 & 7: Halloween 4 and 5 (it's been a while since I've seen either of these and I think I have blended the two of them together in my mind) 8. Halloween 6 (this one was forgettable to me and I don't remember much from it) 9. Rob Zombie's Halloween (I'm not a fan at all) 10. Resurrection (this movie is total crap and will probably never watch it again in my life) I have not seen Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 or the fan made film, so they're not ranked.

Been watching Halloween for 11 years and has to be my favorite series of horror

1. Halloween (Classic, never gets old) 2. Halloween (2018) (By the far has the best score in the series) 3. Halloween: H20 (Should have been the ending of the series or with Laurie Strode) 4. Halloween 4 (My first Halloween movie I saw when I was a kid and will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s basically a love letter to the original) 5. Halloween III (The more I watch it, the more I love it. Great standalone) 6. Halloween II (I find this movie to be frustrating. It has some really good moments but also some questionable moments as well) 7. Halloween 6 (Either version but I prefer the PC) 8. Halloween 5 (The laundry chute scene still gives me chills and I love crazy Loomis) 9. RZ Halloween (Theatrical Cut was the better version, it didn’t have that unnecessary rape scene) 10. RZ Halloween II (Brad Dourif and Danielle Harris were the best parts. The cinematography and lighting was pretty good too) 11. Halloween: Resurrection (The main theme was the best part of the movie and everything else was trash. I always skip this one in my marathons)

2018 was a big disappointment with several cool elements (mainly James Jude Courtney and John Carpenter). JLC is so tired and she was never the face of the series to me. Scout did a better job in the criminally underrated RZs H2. That said Halloween Kills is going to be sooooo awesome.

Part of that nay be because I’ve been a fan of the franchise for nearly 2 decades prior to their releases. The Rob Zombie films were a part of a franchise which had 8 films and about 30 years of history prior. His 2007 remake was okay. I actually liked the first half. I liked the prequel half where Rob came up with new story to tell. I did not like the remake half. It was rushed and felt more like a Friday the 13th film than a Halloween film, especially the characterization of Michael. He was much more “Jason Voorhees of Friday the 13th Part 3” than Michael Myers of any Halloween film. With Rob’s Halloween II, it was completely unidentifiable as a franchise film. The white horse imagery was completely out of place in this franchise. Of any of the holy trinity of slasher franchises, Zombieween II was the only one of them in which I legitimately walked out on in theaters. To this day, it has not grown on me even an inch, and I’m okay with that.

@@flightofthebumblebee9529 h2018 was annoying mainly because of the camera work i feel like..they showed michael walking way too much(half the time there was no music)...it looked like a papparazi was just following him with a iphone in a lot of the scenes...it wasnt suspenseful or spooky because they showed too much...it felt like a michael myers vlog video hahahah..they wanted to go back to their roots but it was just poorly done. so many other things i could complain about hahah..people just gas the movie up because they brought jamie back. i honestly wish that they started h2018 after halloween 2 so the sister aspect was still intact.

With Rob zombies H2 I didn’t understand at first but once I watched it again in the beginning Michael is a child and his mom gives him a white horse and when he is a adult again he is seeing what his mom would’ve said to him when he was younger and his mom is telling him to kill anyone in his path until he gets to Laurie,but I loved Tyler Mane’s performance as Michael especially the nurses death at the beginning

toy machine 5 to be completely honest, I have ALWAYS loved Halloween III. In the early 90s, I purchased those Goodtimes VHS tapes of Halloween II and Halloween III. I loved it, because I loved how the narrative was connected to the actual HISTORY of the holiday. I thought that was cool. If you listen to the exposition in the film given by Cochran, his monologue explains his motives and it includes actual history of the day.

toy machine 5 we all have our opinions, and I appreciate that. I have worked on film before: various local indy films out here in Honolulu. One film I played two different zombie characters in even played at a local film festival. I know what it is like to be in front of the camera. I know how difficult it can be to work in make-up. I know how challenging it is to get a movie made. 🙂 It ain’t easy. I think my experience gives me more of an appreciation for other people’s work, because I know what they went through to get their movie made. I’ve been there. And I’m going back! ✊🏻 It’s real easy to evaluate other people’s work, but I think Betsy Palmer said it best (God rest her soul). She said “those who can make films do, and those who can’t criticize.” 🙂

I appreciated your list. I was going to offer my list but realized if I made one next week or a month from now it would be different. I agree more or less with your comments, criticisms, and ranking as per your explanations. In lieu of a ranking, I will offer that I love the character of Michael Myers more than any other horror villain. However, I am still waiting to see the character used in a well written film. 1978 is a great film but not a masterpiece. I have high hopes for Halloween Kills. I was disappointed that they moved back the release date by a year. Best wishes and have a happy Halloween. 🎃

A better version is the theatrical cut of Rob Zombie's Halloween II. It's toned way down with its assholery. And it has a much different ending.

This was a pretty on point ranking for the reasons you cite. Personally I would put Halloween III at number two because it's so different, visually interesting and has an incredible soundtrack. Though it has some awkward moments and your placement on the list seems pretty valid.

I've always been a Halloween 6 defender. Its a mess but I enjoy it and I think it has some of the best atmosphere in the series. My bottom three is is Halloween Resurrection, RZ Halloween, RZ Halloween 2. I hate Halloween 5 too, its a very frustrasting movie. My top three are 1. Halloween 78 2. Halloween Kills 3. Here's my ranking 1. Halloween 1978 (Masterpiece. So simple and effective with a fantastic setting.) 2. Halloween 2 (A worthy sequel to a great movie. The showdown was so satisfying.) 3. Halloween 4 (Great movie! Really good characters especially.) 4. Halloween 2018 (Great return to form. Intrigued to see what they do with the next 2 movies.) 5. Halloween H20 (Interesting timeline they did here. Laurie really went ham in the end.) 6. Halloween 2007 (I enjoy this movie for what it is. Guilty pleasure starts here.) 7. Halloween 5 (The beginning of the end.....) 8. Halloween 6 (I've only seen the producers cut. The whole curse element I found really stupid.) 9. Halloween Resurrection (The beginning was the only watchable part. Everything else was inexcusable.) 10. Halloween 2 2009 (WTF is this movie? This wasn't even a halloween movie imo. Felt like a wet dream rob zombie had of what he WISHED it was. A real POS.) Never saw Halloween 3. I'll get down to watching it someday, even though I heard it's nothing special. Looking forward to the new movies when they come out!

I mostly agree with your ranking. There are definitely some sequels that are worse than others, but I can watch most of them. I can watch Curse, I can watch Ressurection, I can watch the first remake, but Rob Zombie's H2 is the only movie in this series that I straight up hate. I absolutely refuse to watch that train wreck. As for Season Of The Witch, I really like it. It goes for a different tone, almost like a feature length Tales From The Crypt/Creepshow story.
