I've had some good success with Reshiram on Showdown. I like his typing in the current meta. He can be a little difficult into Kyogre, but Rillaboom can really cover that weakness. Plus Tera Fire Heat Wave with Farigiraf Helping Hand is pretty scary.

Lilikoal Sunroom Kyurem-W. Ice-fire coverage, positive MU into Kyogre, positive MU into Terapagos, basically can't be counter weathered. Only fire types resist Freeze-Dry and Fusion flare. Heatran is the only fire type who wants to eat draco-meteor. You can run Modest Life Orb to hit every damage range you can dream of. Synergizes well with Farigiraf. Remaining pokemon can be anything. My personal favorite is Grovyle + Primarina to force your opponent to run specific leads.

I'd personally put Eternatus above Ho-oh, but that's just a personal bias I have because it's my main team right now. I do run the Tinkaton variant, though I have Life Orb as my item over Specs. It pairs well with the "Balance Berry" core of Incin, R-Ursh, and Rilla, and I really like Kingambit as an Answer for the horses. I understand it's far from the strongest pokemon, but damn it's fun to use.

I'd personally put Zamazenta low A, since it can be somewhat flexible in your options for some of your moves if you really want to while still being able to dish out some damage. Wide guard is hugely important and while not ideal for a restricted mon, you can still run it and have room for the other mons you might want on your team, and if im not mistaken you can actually still run coaching (however mid an option it may be) to boost non-setup physical mons (like your partner chien-pao). Like you mentioned as well it has a somewhat solid matchup into kyogre and terapagos, and when running a dark type like chien-pao you can also cause some issues for both calyrex forms. Regardless, a solid anti-meta pick against the horses imo.

As someone thats mained Zamall format and peaked at like 1820ish on the b01 showdown ladder I genuinely believe Zam is a good mon, but most people use it wrong. As you alluded to having wide guard is great (and 100% what you should run over iron defense) and it is overall very bulky. Your main opps are pao with sacred sword, water ursh, chi yu, entei, bloodmoon in tr, lando i, tera ghost incin and weirdly enough unaware dozo. You need to have a way to beat all of those mons on successful Zam team. There is just no getting around it. I've found the best way to run Zam is on a bulky offense damage trading style of team. You don't want to be pivoting around like the caly teams, instead you want to be fairly aggressive and have mons that facilitate that by either allowing zam to do the aggression, or zam allowing them to be aggressive. I've found my success with pao, this punishes the ghost types zam can't hit with throat chop (especially incin's). It also mitigates the burn damage reduction. Also puts major pressure on lando i I also stole wolfes room service pelly. It puts pressure on those tr bloodmoons and tera fire ice riders to a massive degree and if you have zam next to it you can damage trade to take out the bloodmoon and then wall thenice rider until tr is over and then knock it out with weather ball. I also use a vest rilla. Super standard. It forces tera on dozo (or punishes if they burned it), helps against miriadon, and is just the most splashable non-restricted in the format. My 5th mon is spicy, specifically it is an Iron Moth. I don't want to get into it, but Iron Moth is a legitimately great zam partner and has strong matchups into a lot of things people will use to best zam (use tera grass with energy ball for ursh and dozo). Plus zam and and pelly with wide guard allow moth to pretty freely spam sludge wave. I can write a whole post on moth, but just trust it is a beast with zam. The last slot is the hardest. I am currently using farig, but I've tried cress, latios, latias, and a couple more niche options. This mons needs to really do 2 things. Hit poison types you have trouble with, and provide some sort of board control (cress with tr and healing, farig with priority and tr, lati with tailwind). The last slot I haven't solved. but if I do I genuinely believe what I've outlined is what the "correct" zam team is supposed to generally look like. Obviously you can swap out a mon or 2 (except pao who is essential) but the general outline of the team should look like that.

@@Joeybanananas oh man the Iron Moth?! i ran that so much in Regs B-D, such an underrated mon. for the last slot it sounds stupid to ask but have you tried Urshifu? you already have Pelipper bringing rain and Chien-Pao lowering defenses. seems like it could be a strong pick. Lando-I would also be an option with Pelipper you could even run it with Sandsear Storm. i feel like the only thing Farig is giving you is TR counter because Zam just isn't really weak to the priority mons out there. you could put tailwind on your peli if you really wanted some sort of speed control on something. Grimmsnarl with screens and twave is also a super good disruptor on Zama teams

@@scottcrysel Farig or cress are a combi of factors. Fake out mons are difficult as far as the whole team is concerned, since I don't have much aoe damage. They also have psychic moves that weaken posions types that my team doesn't hit well. And cress specifically helps deal with burns, but sometimes it ends up feeling like it does nothing besides that if you know what I mean? Grimm is a mon I've tried. Its not bad and ill give it another go. But being fairy weak and unable to hit posions types/teras isn't great. Lando isn't a bad idea. It does provide some things the team needs. I don't use the pelly too often the way I play tho. My most common mons are zam, moth and pao. Rilla and pelly are situational and the last can vary. Basically the last mon I pick seems good off what I had been facing, but then I end up facing other archetypes and that makes me want to test a new mon who beats that, just to lose to another archetype and so on so on. It might just need to be ursh as the overall most consistently good mon. I will be a bit bolt weak tho. And I would pick bolt itself, but then I have 3 ground weaks.... Can never win lol And yes moth is underrated. I has a pretty strong set of positive matchups, and is really the only mon that has that specific combo of good matchups (i guess salazzle, but whatever)

Feels niche though, but you can maybe use it on a more defensive Flutter instead of glass canon set. Paired with moonblast, icy wind and maybe protect depending on the item. Think it could work? And also, I wanted to ask, which Tera on Zam do you use? I’m debating between grass and dragon. Grass is good against amoonguss and resists a lot of types, like electric moves on Miraidon. Tho you keep that fire weakness, meaning you must bring Pelipper to set in rain to take less damage. And I also like dragon, but then I’m more weak to Raging Bolt and Miraidon’s dragon moves, and these guys are pretty popular in this current regulation. Oh and, what is the iron moth set? I can’t find any online but it seems like a great mon.

@@Rylozu1767 With flutter my only issue is I use the booster on moth to get a booster speed and sash on pao. I could run specs, but I'm not sure. Plus flutter is so hard to ev, but I do like your suggestion! With zam I honestly use tera water mostly. Sometimes dragon. I find water to be just a really good neutral tera type that really only gets punished by raging bolt and miriadon. Dragon makes you weak to glacial Lance tho and i dont think making one of your best matchups worse by using tera is great tbh. And grass still leaves you with a fire weakness. Yes pelly can mitigate it, but you don't want to always have to bring pelly when you see a chi yu on the other side. Plus it makes you weak to pao icicle crash which, being stab and a higher BP, basically does the same damage as sacred sword pre tera. I'll give you my moth spread. Its not really optimized for anything beyond outspeeding scarf timid lando and being able to outspeed ogrepons who have speed crept lorb lando after an icy wind drop (so not full speed pon, but the 169 speed pon) 228 hp. 12 def. 68 spa atk, 4 sp def 196 speed. Timid nature. Moves are protect. sludge wave. flamethrower. and energy ball. Tera grass. I chose flamethrower for the higher BP and to not get walled by wide guard, but you can swap to fiery dance for the boost or heat wave for more spread. You have to invest a lot to get the booster speed. and this means you cant go all out on sp atk. Its not too bad tho since moth has like base 140 sp atk. So you don't need heavy investment anyways. If you do want to go higher in sp atk you will need to also go higher in speed as well to make sure you get the speed proc, unless you have a team that can afford to use moth slightly differently and go for a sp atk boost, or even lorb or specs. In return you will have a lotn of extra ev's to put into its bulk. The 228 and 12 def were from testing with an amoongus on the team and getting to an even hp stat. I haven't changed since then because I don't really feel the need to tbh. It is a hard mon to use and will take some getting used to. Im not saying this is the definitive mon that Zam needs to be paired with, but if you try and play them you will find that it has a lot of synergy with zam in general (lead zam and moth into kyogre and torn leads and make them have to choose if they tera or not, and wide guard the spread damage while putting out decent damage yourself. And it also pairs with pao against caly shadow leads (put them in a situation where they can tera to survive throat chop and die to sludge wave, or don't tera and die to throat chop. Alternate protects and if they lead incin you can tera ghost pao to avoid fake out. You should still okho a caly even with the attack drop)

I tried Tera Ground Lugia for a while and it was a good hard counter to Koraidon but it would get obliterated by Caly Ice most times, could usually skate by against Caly Shadow but there was really no way around Caly Ice unfortunately. I ran it alongside a fairly bulky Comfey to get a recurring Multiscale for a few turns but bro’s right. It was pretty much a “training wheels” team and this is my first year playing competitively so, lesson learned. Lugia couldn’t cut it

i think a lot of the mid/low tier restricteds have a lot of potential, but their stats aren't quite as optimised, their abilities aren't spectacular and most importantly i think is the awkward speed tiers. besides zacian crowned and eternatus, every mon in c or d is basically mid speed which sucks because in almost every matchup at least one mon on the enemy team will either outspeed in tailwind or underspeed in trick room. for a midspeed mon to be worth using it either needs to be insanely threatening, bulky or both, and none of them can compete with kyogre or zama who each do both of those things really well. also restricted formats being biased towards offensive restricteds sucks for the majority of them, in ubers you'll see mons like ho-oh and dusk mane all the time

I'll be honest, not a fan of Miraidon and Raging Bolt running only Electric and Dragon moves because all it takes is a Tera Fairy Lightningrod Pokemon to put a banana in the tailpipe. Whenever I run one of those Pokemon, I at least try to have at least one move that will give some wiggle room. The chances might be low, but never zero.
