The one in season 5, episode 10 where you said they were just walking, and walking and walking and more walking is actually one of my favorite of the whole show because later in the barn Rick tells a story and states one of the main themes of the show: "We are the Walking Dead". It's a fantastic episode.

Jared Clark I agree. That episode was the soul of the show. When Rick told that story in the barn during the storm about his grandfather in World War II. Rick says we tell ourselves that we are the walking dead & that's how we survive. Then how they each 1 by 1 came together to hold back the walkers all night!

I like season 1 because I believe the show should only use 6 episodes. All episodes in season 1 were full of action, with 16 episodes, it's full of lackluster episodes, and some episodes are just filler in general. Look at the video game, it uses 5-6 and is amazing.

I made the comparison to American Horror Story. Horror themed and full of twists and turns and they have 12 episodes a season. That should probably be sufficient. (Before anyone moans at me for the comparison I'm aware AHS hasn't been good for a while)

Agreed! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 1-3 were the best. The Grove episode (Carol,Tyreese, Lizzie, Micah) in S4 was the saving grace for that season IMO. You had two characters who had smaller roles, but made a big impact in the character development of 2 characters.

No one else loved Season 6? I thought the fact they don't give much away about Negan allowed for him to make his first on-screen appearance a nail-biting finale that puts you on the edge of your seat (as you don't know what to expect). The downtime in-between Season 6 and Season 7 allowed for speculation, tension and curiosity to build up. Maybe it's just me but Negan is such a well-acted and enjoyable character to watch that Season 7 was one of my favorites (With Episode #7 "Sing Me a Song" being one of the best in the series).

Tbh I've most TWD seasons, maybe except for sophia arc and michonne pregnancy psycho kids arc Glenn was nice, but it didn't devastate me when he died. Abraham was funny, but yeah whatever, ppl die in TWD. I hope the show becomes more popular than it is currently, it deserves much more.

Season 2 is top 3, imo. It shows us how human nature changes and reverses after society and civilization (as we know it) is destroyed; how some people (Shane, Andrea) figure it out faster than others (Rick, Dale, Hershel) and it really becomes 'survival of the fittest'; how leadership that involves 2 alpha personalities with different points of view is unsustainable and it sets up the transformation (for better of worse) of Rick that happened after he killed Shane.

According to Robert Kirkman, the walkers were intelligent because they had just turned, so they have Some rememberance of their past lives. Kirkman made them less and less intelligent to show their deterioration and regression over time.

Season 6 is one of my two favourites - I thought the fact that the first 9 eps take place over only 3 days was brilliant, and it had not just one but THREE big foes to deal with - the Walkers, the Wolves, and the sinister, slow uncovering of the ultimate danger that was the Saviours - that was so well done. Episode 1, First Time Again, is possibly my favourite episode of all. Loved the one about Morgan and Eastman, too. And Jessie got eaten by Walkers, which was all good in my book. My other favourite is 3, agree with you there. I also loved 4, all the way through, and thought the 'on the road' episodes were excellent. Unlike so many watchers, I don't think it's necessary to have all the main characters in every ep. I think 2 is underrated, as well. It is a bit slow, granted, but it's all about the gradual progression of Rick, Daryl, Carol and Maggie, into the people they are now, in S8.

IMO Season 6 was way better than S7, yes the Glenn dumpster gate controversy sucked & the cliffhanger w the lineup was a huge cock tease but there was also great shit in there too.

Good analysis, but I did not find Season 3 to be the best season. In Season 3, the producers ruined Andrea's character (no fault of the actress herself); started making Rick unlikable; killed off Merle thus getting rid of the best actor on the show ever (Michael Rooker); and started the trend of polarizing characters between being either superheroes (Michonne, Daryl), idiots (Andrea, Milton), and villains (the Governor).

Seasons 1 & 2 were my favorite seasons, because I felt that is when the show was most realistic. Season 2 might have been my most favorite season if only because of the great opening & finale episodes and Jon Bernthal's great job acting the part of Shane. I stopped watching after the Season 6 episode following the mid-season finale - once a handful of humans single-handedly executed hundreds of zombies without suffering even a scratch was when I turned off the TV set. Why call the show 'The Walking Dead' if the walking dead are now no more threatening than gnats?

TheBob1901 I know it's just your opinion but I actually like the walkers become less dangerous. The show established that one of the biggest dangers of the walkers is fear and hesitation. Naturally, the characters would become less afraid of them. This is evident by the superiority of the group at killing walkers compared to the residents of Woodbury or Alexandria because they are still afraid of the Walkers. I understand where you are coming from but I quite enjoy the show actually shows the characters make real effort to establish civilisation again. Shane proved that lawlessness is the real danger. Think of the barn scene in S2 where Shane chastises Rick for not changing with the times "Things aren't how they were before" or something like that.

Rick was cold but he killed his friend months ago, and his wife just died at this point. When Andrea returned to the prison they were already on guard. I loved Andrea's character even though she gets alot of hate. And I find that killing off 2 characters that had alot to do with the season itself is fitting in a sorrowful way. Just my opinion on that.

When Daryl and Merle came face to face in season 3 that wasn't the first time since season 1 (not counting Daryl's hallucination in season 2), that was the first time period. We never saw them face to face in season 1.

Late reply, but I have season 6 ranked at my third/fourth spot. It's great for sure, but 6A has some pretty meh episodes like 6*05, 6*07 and 6*08. It does have JSS to make up for that though. 6B, on the other hand, is excellent from start to finish imo. No way out is one of the best episodes ever, as well as 6*12. And I personally never minded the cliff hanger either.

Season 2 is actually one of my favorites, probably because it didnt feel so dragged on to me, and I loved it exactly because of the character development, especially Shane, it was fascinating to me that the main antagonist was actually one of the group members, on the other hand, while S2 feels underrated to me, I feel like season 4 is overrated, I did not enjoy the flu arc, it didn't affect anyone that really mattered, and the second half was so boring and actually felt too dragged unlike S2 for me, although it did have a little bit CD in it, but to me the only redeeming factors on that season were hershel, governor, abraham and the final 3 episodes

I've seen 1-7 and looking back I feel like the show really stopped being worth watching after season 3. There were great moments here and there in the later seasons but overall they were very forgettable. Also season 2 seems to be very underrated.

Season 3 was amazing, definitely the best and most consistent season, followed by 1,2,4&5. Season 3 was full of tension and suspense, no cheesy, predictable deaths and the most interesting characters in the show. I also agree the pacing was spot on. I can always go back and rewatch seasons 1-3 and love watching every minute of them.

I'm surprised you don't like the CDC episodes they're among my favourite. They didn't feel out of place to me, the rationale made a lot of sense. In the event of the apocalypse due to disease; the government would protect the CDC at all costs. It wasn't really a secret facility as Rick and Shane knew about it and they were just local cops. It has an abandoned military cordon outside which suggests it probably wasn't secret, walkers couldn't infiltrate that building as we can see from them needing a grenade to open the window to escape and most of it being underground. It was to stop other humans. The rape scene established that Shane isn't just a misguided good guy, which added credibility to him losing his mind in Season 2. Lastly, I think Jenner presented them with a real moral dilemma. You can either try to survive and die horribly (which nearly all of them have, only 3 of them are still alive) or you can take a painless death with your loved ones.

Pretty much same here. The only thing that bored me was season 8, but that might just be because it was the first season I watched live. I binged the first seven seasons during the summer before season 8's release, and waiting each week was a little annoying. It didn't help that I wasn't a huge fan of that season either. I also took a "break" after watching Rick's last episode, mostly because it was a lot to take in. However, I'm now all caught up and have no plans to stop!

All the "flaws" you mentioned from the first season are what make it stand out from the rest. It was something new, it was still deciding what it wanted to be, with cool things like the smarter, actually scary zombies that made you tense whenever someone was surrounded by them, instead of the new zombies where if you have a horde of 5 million zombies behind you, you still have time to drink a coffee, watch a couple movies and read a few novels before they get to you, and even then they'll just try to gently grab you and show you their teeth instead of actually trying to bite you. The season 1 zombies were fucking scary, they were very fast, reacted fast at your actions, wouldn't fall for stupid traps, and didn't have much of a problem breaking windows with rocks, climbing fences or trying to open doors. As for the final episode, how is that one bad? It tried to get your interest by giving you hints as to how the zombie virus works, we never got anything like that ever again, except for the moment when we met Eugene which made me excited then punched me in the face, it's getting fucking boring when the show is basically just, people get to place, they talk a lot, someone comes and destroys it, they move on to a new place, and so on. Not a single episode dedicated to explaining the origins of the virus, no trying to show whatever is happening in the rest of the world, nothing. Just the same crap over and over again.

Ts-19 was a great episode, Ricks desperation to be let in, the whole 'how the walkers work' arc, the shutdown of the facility, Jacqui and Jenner emotional death, Andrea and Dale's suicide talk, carols grenade and Glenn was pretty likeable. I get it was set differently but feel it was a fitting end to s1 and a good introduction to how the series works, allowing us to understand the walkers better from s2 onwards and shows there is no cure, creating a theme for the rest of the season

My opinion is the most simple one. My favorite is Season 1, then 2-3-4-5-6 and the worst is Season 7. I do find Seasons 1-3 to be masterpieces, 4 and 5 are great and 6-7 just bullshit.

You should think about rewatching season 2 it's about as far from "masterpiece" as the show gets. Tedious and badly written just 16 episodes of people talking in circles.

Hi Pred, I do agree although I think season 6 is my favorite that if I had to pick a season to rewatch it would be season 3. S3 had the Governor, Michonne (whom you didn't mention), the prison, Merle, Morgan, and plenty of surprise deaths. I also believe this was Carl's best season. He was a lot tougher and I firmly disagree to this day with Hershel when he said "he gunned that kid down."

Season 3 is the best season of all. The newer seasons are just flat out boring. Sure some episodes are good but the seasons are still wack. I like seasons 1-4 and the first half of season 5. I also like Merle as a character cus his background is so mysterious. And the newer seasons I just love Dwight cus he's bad ass looking and I like how he joins Rick in fighting negan. I hope to see more of him :)

If there's one thing that frustrates me the most about TWD at the moment, is that there's no main ending in sight. As of typing this comment TWD Season 10 trailer is out, and I like how Daryl and Carol talk about how they feel they're just going from one fight to the next, because I feel that's how it is at the moment. I want there to be a great build up to finding a cure and an overall ending to the show, rather than it being dragged out over and over again with pointless filler.

When it comes to Morgan's wife trying to get through the door. The first season of walking dead was much closer to Romero zombies. They retained memories. First example that comes to mind is when the the zombies followed the "fly boy" back to their hide out because he remembered where it was. There are many other cases in the Romero movies. Unfortunately the producers didn't understand that and fired the original show runner. Romero are my favorite type and the original. To me keeping just a hint of their inhumanity makes them more creepy and tragic when you have to fight of friends and family.

there was another continuity error (so to speak) when it comes to walkers/zombies is the 2nd episode Guts, when the walkers are on the way into the shop where the survivors are held up, there's a walker breaking down a window with an object, more likely a rock =) always laughed at that part

A lot of people complain about the flu arc but I really liked it. It produced some really interesting moral problems and when the first kid died it was pretty exciting seeing who he was going to bite and what mayhem the unexpected death would cause.

If Kirkman's going with Romero zombies, yes, they could use tools and pickup objects and had enough initial trace memory . . just look at those movies with zombies going back to familiar places, little zombie girl using a spade to kill her scared mother, mimicking past physical actions. First season WD wasn't contrary, it was in line for a brief time until the showrunner was pushed out and writers decided to write it differently.

Can you do top 10 walkers where the physics make no sense. I think Sophia made no sense because when she was shot she fell forward instead of falling backwards. A major character death that affects the group monumentally was performed wrong
