You lost me at Westin in S tier. As an airline pilot, I stay in lots of hotels and I’ve been in many Westins. They’re mediocre hotels. I put them below the Hyatt Regencys and Intercontinentals of the world. I don’t see how you can compare Westin hotels to the likes of Ritz-Carleton and Waldorf Astoria. Consistently one of my least favorite hotel brands we stay at.

I hear where you are coming from, but I would argue this is due to recent mismanagement combined with the nastiness of some Westins near airports, like those at LAX and ORD. I always loved the Westin in Seattle and other historic Westins; my only regret is their merger with Sheraton caused Sheratons to get downgraded a bit, whereas previously they were a brand that could compete with Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, and Westin. But lately I have found the quality of some Westins has declined, and I am especially wary of Westins located at airports, and also I disliked the standardization of the menus at the major hotel chains, and Westin was one of the first to do this. But this decline was due to poor management of the brand by Starwood, which instead prioritized their elite properties like the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, which personally I preferred to the more well known St. Francis. Sadly their lovely sushi bar closed many years ago, but they still have the Pied Piper. For that matter I am furious at Hilton for closing the iconic seafood restaurant at the Drake Hotel in Chicago.

SHOCKED at your DoubleTree rating! I would have thought B
@dontpullonit Жыл бұрын
Ok so fun suggestion, Ethan. This ranking order is overall correct for hotels East of the Mississippi. The Categories B and below become completely different when you go West. For example, Best Western jumps to a straight B. Why? Because they are Best….in the West! It’s what they do! Same for Quality Inn, Drury, Comfort etc…they all get Bs and Cs. Give it a try, and have your mind blown.

Embassy suites has some great locations. The made to order breakfast options and happy hour put this in B tier for me.

Courtyard as A tier?? They are b at most. And where’s park Hyatt?
@jacksonkuzmic Жыл бұрын
I think holiday inn should be B. They have nice rooms and reasonable pricing. Also I have gone there a lot and they have always been very clean.

The Hampton Inn in Hendersonville is insanely nice. Has a nice office with a computer and the room is very nice and slightly mountain-y because it’s in a mountain town. Definitely an A for that specific one. Breakfast is also amazing.

The hotel I work at, used to be a Marriott which was converted to DoubleTree 2 months ago. DT is known for buying old hotels and slapping their logo on it. I remember staying at a DoubleTree in Des Moines which you can obviously tell it used to be a Wingate by Wyndham.

I would move Westin down to A, Hilton and Hyatt Regency up to A, Sheraton up to B, Double Tree up to C.

Drury as an F??? The one in Pittsburgh is the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at??????
@Closedmouthboy Жыл бұрын
Drury in my opinion is a an A or B tier, it's good for what it is as a 3 star midrange hotel.
@oscarmorales89796 ай бұрын
It’s usually the Drury Hotels out in suburban cities by the highway that are dilapidated and old but the ones in downtown areas of major cities are luxurious and feel like a different hotel brand.

The thing I don't like about Days Inn is that they're starting to employ check in kiosks that aren't even self check in. You have to talk to somebody in a call center to check in while there's somebody right there at the counter.

This man must be rich assuming we all have the money for a Hampton inn. No way I’m paying 150 to stay in the middle of a cornfield in illinois

I disagree. In the Midwest Homewood and Residence are UNMATCHED. Double size rooms, nice pools, and free breakfast. They are Bs. If not As.
@Closedmouthboy Жыл бұрын
I also disagree. Recently stayed at one in Hoover, AL. The bed was comfortable, the room was large, the breakfast in the morning was good for a hotel free breakfast. Would have ranked B tier.

I love a Holiday Inn Express. Very clean. Not a single smell. White cotton bedsheets. It seems to be like a hypoallergenic hotel. Marriott had down feathers in its comforters . Holiday Inn Express is like a hotel for people with allergies.

I’m not sure how I feel about the Drury take despite never staying there. Literally every rating for all Drury hotel locations on Google have at least a 4.5 star rating. May not be the fanciest hotel in the world. But, it definitely doesn’t look like a F tier rating. Overall though, good video with interesting takes!
