The fact that cupcakke still isn’t mainstream or more known is crazy to me because she was literally saying the things a lot of these mainstreams artists are saying now before I was even deemed normal for society and she was shunned for it. In terms of Disney live action remakes or adaptations, I feel underrated films would be better. For example, Atlantis The Lost Empire did poorly at the box office and was considered a failure by Disney. However, it does have all the best essentials such as action, archaeology, lore, and fantasy to work as a perfect live action film. Another example which was deemed a failure was Treasure Planet. Treasure Planet fits the same bill as Atlantis The Lost Empire except the setting takes place in outer space instead of ancient advanced lost civilization. Also, The Black Cauldron because it’s a fantasy genre dealing with magic, medieval fantasy, and adventure. Though, Disney would have to read the from the books and actually try to make it fit into a film and make a series of it.

I wouldn’t worry about her tbh. She’s easily the best vocalist of our generation and she has the range to do any genre. It’s just a matter of what sound she personally likes (the last 3 albums) VS what the people want (the first 3 albums).

Well she's working on Wicked right now and r.e.m. beauty, not to mention any other personal and career/professional possibilities. This take surprises me because I don't think that's a worry. Of course anyone can get creatively slumped, but she's one of the best vocalists of our era with ever-evolving skill and talent. She's just seems to be an overall musical and sonic sponge/geek, so I think she's busy doing other things and is creatively fine right now until she says otherwise (or it's really obvious her sound and performance isn't evolving)

I get what ur saying, but many with those features & gender are dealt with the worse cards bco the whole circumstance. Also, Americans talk abt black & white culture/features/benefits as if that is applied globally, when that's not the case at all... I will never understand American celeb culture, segregation laws etc. I don't disagree with what ur saying, however it's a huge assumption to think she wrote this songs only to represent her, & frankly unfair to bring up race, when the songs were probably reffering to the overall human experience as a woman in patriarchy. I think anyone understands for every group expericing inequality or suffer from things concerning physical or mental disabilities, naturally are dealt more difficult cards to play until they get an uno reverse.

@@miracraigfan1738 I'm confused. You have to realize tho that “feeling old” is relative. In a room full of 40 year olds, any one under 30 is a baby to them. To anyone that’s still a teen, anyone that’s in their 20s is old. It’s just a continuous cycle. I remember thinking anyone over 21 was old and now I’m like what the hell what I thinking 😂😂 Also, I refuse to let people who can’t even drink yet or haven’t experienced any form of young adult hood tell me what’s old. As a 24 year old, people that are the age of 20 and younger are fetuses to me. It goes both ways. I do think it’s dumb that people on social media act like there’s a cut off to use tik tok or Instagram and try to bully “older” people off of it by being ageist. Which is weird because a lot of Famous tik tok creators are in their early 20s to early 30s. So clearly the space isn’t just for young teens and 21 year olds.

38:10 i actually do agree with both takes, and i like a majority of taylor’s discography. when midnights was released, people were complaining that she had some corny lines in songs like ‘vigilante shit’, and at that time i just responded with “well that’s how taylor always has been, she’s always had corny lines”… looking back, while what i said is not precisely wrong, it is frustrating to see that in some ways, she still writes like when she was nineteen. folklore/evermore have shown a development of her skills, but then in midnights she does it again sometimes. and while it’s true that it’s not the same writing pop songs than writing alternative music, i can even cringe listening to what she, a thirty-three year old, sang unironically. anyways… she’s only in her thirties, so there’s a lot of time for her to grow and put more amazing work

36:00 A friend and I were actually talking about this a while ago when we were listening to Midnights together. A part of what makes Taylor so accessible is that she not only writes about things her fans can relate to, but she writes about them in a way that feels genuine and authentic. She's not writing these profound observations about life or these intricate metaphors, but what she's doing has this v heartfelt quality to it. There's an earnestness to it that is v reminescent of the way a teenager/early 20 something thinks. And like, I can understand why people want more out of her; she is no longer a teenager/early 20 something. Personally, I can't say that I'm not fan, but I'm also ready for an album that feels more adult. Like, Taylor Swift in her early 30's; is it so much to ask for an album that feels like it's from an album in that period of their life?!

As a big Taylor fan I agree. I remember when folklore and evermore came out I thought finally Taylor is making music for herself and who she is currently and is out of her teenage dream. Aside from that weird teenage love triangle she put in folklore. But then with midnights I feel like she took a massive step back. I feel like some of the songwriting is very juvenile and maybe even rushed. I think Taylor is an amazing songwriter for the topics that she chooses to sing about. But I think she holds herself back lyrically especially on her pop albums by trying to still appeal to a teenage demographic.

@@gerardovazquez6441 I mean folklore sold amazingly along with the merch and vinyls. That’s the album that gained her a whole new generation of fans. To me folklore and evermore are her most “adult” albums to date. It’s not that I don’t think she should be aiming for a young audience if that’s what she wants, it’s good for longevity to keep the younger generation engaged. It’s that I don’t think she has to sacrifice mature or more intricate writing and aesthetic just to appeal to them. Because folklore made it clear that younger people are willing to be engaged and buy whatever she does. My niece was only 6 when folklore came out and she loved that album and could easily sing along to it. So this notion that to appeal to a younger audience you need simpler writing or a more colorful aesthetic or even need to be making bubblegum pop is not true. Younger audiences aren’t as shallow and surface level as the media likes to make them seem.

on opinion #2- i do agree that some filler is okay, sometimes they turn into iconic pieces. but the more cohesive an album, the more it speaks on the artists creative ability in my opinion. albums that have several parts over years of work and are works of storytelling AND music are usually looked at as some of the best albums ever. some examples that come to mind are kanye w his earlier music, tyler the creator especially w igor but literally all of his other works too, kendrick, and there’s so many others. there’s a different and more immersive vibe to albums like that. i feel like i get such a connection to the music when it’s a cohesive, completely intentional storylike that.

20:38 Omg this kinda reminds me of the song Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh) by Lumidee because while I love the song to death, the vocals are not the best 💀. Still shows that good songs don’t need to be sung by the greatest singer to be considered good or memorable. Sometimes it’s also about the artist selling the music with confidence, whether it’s there or not (kinda like fake it until you make it). An example of this (while this is in Rap) is Eazy E from NWA. He was not a rapper to begin with but he became one and people took interest in it and still do ❤

She should genuinely stick too comedy bc her music and remixes now are just off beat and just simply not good. I believe she ruined her career with fighting with Nicki and the barbz. When people call her the queen of rap is genuinely annoying to me bc she doesn't even write her own raps

I 100% percent agree with people don’t know what an opinion is anymore. It has become a blurred line for most which should never be there to begin with. Some ppl really need to go back to school and be taught how to differentiate between a fact and an opinion. I can understand disagreeing with an opinion which is totally normal bc it is an opinion! That’s what opinions are for, is to discuss and break it down to decipher whether said opinion is valid or not.

if beyonce was a white woman she wouldn’t get the "overrated" comments nowhere near as much as she does being a black woman💯, people would praise her talent on a different level (for example taylor swift) she’s very mediocre to me but gets so much praise & a lot of it is because of her white privileged , so i don’t personally think bey’s fans over exaggerate her talent because she actually puts in the work and passion in her performances and music.

PLEASE READ ALL OF IT, IT LOOKS LIKE A LOT BUT ONCE YOU READ IT ITS REALLY NOT THAT MUCH people always pull this card that its actualLy the opposite now, yes there will always be racism and there very much still is a giant group of people that wont let black people or other minorities get on the same playing field as white people, but most of those people are getting old and when have you seen a comment and thought "oh thats probably an 80 year old man" so if we're talking about the internet, and dont try to deny this, white people seem to be the ones getting excluded now, and just because poc had to deal with that doesnt mean that the white ppl of today are the same white ppl from the 20's and should have to deal with that, i see hispanics on tiktok making fun of white people, i see black ppl stereotyping white people in the way they cook, and if a white teenage boy stereotyped black ppl there would def be backlash but most ppl would just think hes joking and actually take it as a joke be hes a teenage boy and we're in times where every teen is woke but if a white girl did that she would definitely be made fun of and scrutinized and be called racist, which is definitely would *should* happen, idk how to say what im thinking but im really trying my best and if at any point it seems like im contradicting myself its all to make a point later on, what im saying is nobody should be allowed to stereotype, make fun of, or exclude any race, ethnicity or group of people, it isnt "black people getting their power back" it would be black people getting their power back if they were doing this when slavery was going on but theyre doing it in times where there are new innocent white ppl and yet they make fun of the music they make, the way they dance, the way they cook, people are definitely more into curvy women with richer complexions that can dance flawlessly, you might think that bc taylor swift is breaking all these records that everybody loves her but its her fans doing that, we're very connected with her, to us her music isnt so we can dance, its so we can understand our feelings, be able to put into words what we're going through, thats why her album RED is a fan favorite bc she really taps in to her emotions with that album, and unless you've listened to every song of her discography is it really your place to say taylor swift is mediocre? thats like someone that has only seen the clip of beyonce's hair getting caught in a fan calling her overrated, like you KNOW beyonce is a great performer thats the way we feel about taylor's songwriting, naomi herself said she hasnt listened to all her music and im sure if she listened to folklore and evermore she wouldve put that opinion in whatever that means, beyonce is a singles artist, taylor swift is an album artist, meaning yes shake it off and bad blood suck, who cares, 1989 is great and the skip button always works, yes we are never ever getting back together and 22 sound like my little sister decided to write in her diary from target, but ronan, and all too well, and i almost do, and better man, and red, and nothing new are on the same album so how could you say its a mediocre album based off 2 songs. when have you opened tiktok and seen a guy thirsting over taylor swift? and once you answer that question you can answer this one, how many times have you opened tiktok and seen a guy thirsting over doja cat, or cardi b, or beyonce? this newfound wokeness although it seems like its been here forever really only started in 2019 and since then white women specifically blonde women, because everybody loves dua lipa and ariana grande and katy perry (before she bleached her hair blonde) and except britney, have been given the basic card, if taylor tried to speak on black women's struggles you're telling me that you wouldn't then say "omg taylor's using black women's issues for clout and shes being pretentious and trying to be woke" ? how do you expect her to speak on something she hasnt experienced, did she say she struggles the most out of everyone else in the world? no, shes sharing HER experiences as a woman, whats stopping a black female artist to make a track about her struggles or what she has to deal with why does every minorities' struggles have to be carried on the back of taylor swift? look what happened when she tried to stand up for the lgbtq+ community, ppl were mocking her. and as soon as i read "if beyonce was a white woman..." i KNEW you were gonna bring up taylor swift bc you guys like to crap on her about not being crapped on but its ironically whats been happening since the beginning of her career, "oh she writes too many breakup songs, oh now shes talking about beef with another woman, oh now shes singing about not letting hate get to her, oh now shes singing about how the hate got to her and how she doesnt care anymore, oh now shes trying to be woke, oh now shes stealing lana del rey's aesthetic, oh now shes cringe again and shes actually really basic why does everyone love her" what in reality shes only big with her fans and target and walmart's playlists, everyone always has something bad to say about her, when does somebody say something bad about beyonce? the ppl that say shes overrated is the equivalent to the ppl that say taylor swift is overrated, theyre both different types of artists doing different types of genres, why do you always need to make this about race?

@@ryliegarcia.You just vomited a bunch of bs here but I’ll respond since I have time. Beyoncé is NOT a singles artist, whoever said that lie is delusional. As a matter of fact, her solo albums often sell much better than her individual singles because her fans expect a full cohesive body of work. Secondly, white ppl are not facing racism because of jokes on TikTok so I’m gonna assume that’s a joke. And lastly, Beyoncé has had so many ppl be rude regarding her and family, calling her child ugly and saying she faked pregnancy or is a pedophile and this is because of her success as a BW, remember just because you didn’t/don’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t occur.

The music industry do need trends in order for everyone to keep up. In the 2020s, people were more open to being creative and trying new things but we haven't had a trend in a while (maybe the dancehall music Drake and Beyoncé carried for a few weeks). Around 2008-09, electropop was at its highest which meant every AND EVERY artist (including Beyoncé, who's known for creating trends not following them) was dropping music ( because they could play it safe) and more importantly electronic music. Rihanna is also a great example of massive success due to following trends; all of her albums are only a year or so between which meant she could largely capitalise off trends because of how much time she was in the music industry. Although Gayle promoted the "cutesy nursery with inappropriate twist" genre of music, there's no denying that it was successful, almost annoyingly successful.

And like, that's all facts, no printer. Everything is influenced/inspired by what came before it. That being said, a lot of new stuff we've been seeing lately feels like an emulation of old shit just with updated production. A great example of this is good 4 u by Olivia Rodrigo. That song is not inspired by Misery Business; it *is* Misery Business. And like, props to Olivia; that is a great song. She definitely deserves all the praise she's gotten for it. But, at the same time, it hasn't rly moved the needle.

22:57 the only reason I don’t agree with this, well the main reason I don’t agree with this, is because Rihanna started to elevate before she switched up her luck. If you remember her first number one single was SOS, which was from the album before good girl gone bad. I personally believe that it was Rihanna going into pop music and pivoting from an island girl doing island music. I think had she stuck in the box that she was in on her first album, she wouldn’t have gone very far but her changing to pop music is what brought her to public attention and then The look and vibes switch up after the Chris Brown situation is what propelled her into the stratosphere.

unpopular opinions about not so popular artists: 1. Arca is the most innovative artist music wise this past decade. Her production is so meticulous, complex, deconstructed and recondite from anything out in this wide and overloaded industry. best production ever perhaps in music's history, and she doesn't get her flowers because she is latin, transexual and even though she embraces pop, electro and reggaeton elements she gives them a hard to digest twist which is to die for. 2. Lingua Ignota is the greatest voice of all time. and that's on period. her voice is the definition of versatile, church hymns, screamings, belting, keeping a high note for over 15 seconds, etc. she is the woman in my profile picture. and that's just a lazy recap of the features of her voice that make me give her this title which often goes to freddie mercury, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey or whoever, Lingua Ignota has a greater voice. 3. Björk is the most influential artist ever, she was experimenting with electro music that sounds fresh till this day, has reinvented herself in every album. my only issue with her is sometimes her vocal delivery, she sounds a couple of times as if she were struggling to sing or she pronounces with an acentuation in certain syllables that make it feel odd.
