I have the Ruger American Scout 2, in 300 BLK and the 6.5 Creedmoor both excellent

On point as usual. I have an MVP in 223 for the reasons you pointed to glaringly. Proprietary mags are dumb if it is for a nato cartridge.

Indeed a lot of chassis manufacturers use AICS format. It's like they think they are using the razor blade model.

I have a Ruger American .308 using the ACIS mags, and the fit of the mags is crap. Can over insert the mags, then have to wiggle them back out to try and figure out where it should be latched in. So sort of a swing and a miss on what's probably one of the most beloved cheaper rifles...

I agree the first gens are a little rough. I have a Ruger American Gen II Pred. in 6.5 Grendel and the AR mag doesn't fit as cleanly as my ARs but it's better than any other mag in the 2.26" length I've used before and is reliable so far. I also have a Magpul Pro Magnum stock and multiple AICS bottom metal guns to include an AICS. They do vary in quality and fit, but they all feed reliably. All of the Gen IIs we've tested in the store have been pretty clean for insertion, feeding, and removal. Sometimes the mag latch needs to be filed on a bit to make it with a little better. Regardless, they actual mag design are reliable and are far superior to any other custom mag out there. I personally cannot figure out why any Scout rifles wouldn't be fit with bottom metal for SR-25 pattern mags. They all should be like the Ruger Scout. Conversely, finding the custom mag that other post actions use is routinely difficult to find and I've seen them be unreliable.
