What my Chinese dad told me after we watched IP Man 4 together: "The problem with all these masters is that they don't exercise like they were when they are young. Using Chinese kung fu to fight people has 2 stages, physical conditioning, and form, as with all martial arts. You condition your body to tolerate punches and last long in a fight, and then teach the forms and strikes to go offensive. When you are young(16-24), you have the bone structure to tolerate punches and the strength to grab and throw, that's why is some Chinese martial art movies show the characters running to warm up, punching trees, beating themselves with bricks, and lift boulders. They build their bodies up to not get hurt easily should they get caught getting punched. Then after physical conditioning, then they teach the strikes and blocks of the king fu to go on offense. Each stage can take up to 5 years per stage to be really effective as the masters of the past. (Keep in mind tho, they trained from sun up to sundown with barely any breaks, and they were beaten up and picked on a lot when they were younger, giving them the motivation to go through this bitter process.). With these masters, they are practicing the form's blocks and strikes without continuing to conditioning their body, making the strikes and blocks ineffective to a younger, stronger guy, like this karate master. He only has to punch a few times and the masters are out. With IP Man, however, he continues to condition his body by hitting his arms and legs on the wooden dummy, making his bones denser and better able to withstand the karate master's attacks. When people want to learn kung fu, they only want to learn the blocks and strikes and not focus on physical conditioning and think that it will make them a better fighter. That's a mistake. If you don't know what it's like to get beat up, can't stand being punched, and want to learn how to fight with kung fu, forget it. If you want to learn kung fu because you think the forms are cool, and you want to increase flexibility and stamina, fine. But if you want to fight with it, you need to be young, and very physically fit to even begin to learn this stuff." That's my dad's take on all martial arts movies. But Keep coming with the content!! Love Y'all!

He starred in the movie The Kid with the Golden Arm, which the rap group Wu Tang Clan references in a song. “Yo, I’m the Kid with the Golden Arm!” He also stars in the movie The Five Deadly Venoms, which is also referenced in another Wu Tang Clan song. “The toad style is immensely strong. When used properly, it is almost invincible!” This actor had a tremendous physique. He came to New York City a few years ago to sign autographs and meet fans.

That being said, I like this reaction video and I like your flavor in reacting and commenting. And I like how y’all don’t edit out the mistakes. That makes you real and not scripted.

If you ever saw the 2010 Karate Kid here’s a fun fact: The third master that fights Colin was the lady that was controlling the snake when Dre and Mr. Han were at the temple Also, the most impressive part of this is that Ip Man was old and dying of cancer in this movie. Imagine if this had been Ip Man in his prime, he would’ve disposed of Frater before he even realized what was going on 🤣
@tsenyenlee94373 жыл бұрын
Actually the body strength is one of reasons, but it's also about their fight strategy. The second master was elder, he didn't have enough power and body strength.And then he blocked the Karate chop by his arm, which has a lot of bones, so his arm was broken like the stone. The third master was smarter, she avoided to defend Collins attacks by her arm directly, but Collins was so strong that her attacks were not effective. So she failed. Finally, Ip Man took the Karate chop by his edge of palm that has more muscle and use his body to reduce the damage. He also attacked Collins fracture like head and throat instead of his body. That's why Ip Man can win this fight.

You have to watch the whole movie. You can get emotional from watching the movie establish the villain and the hero standing up to the villain, but it’s even more dramatic if you watch the whole movie. The buildup makes it more dramatic, and the buildup is worth it when you experience the movie in its entirety in all its glory.

To be fair, historically “yellow” was used to describe cowardice and not necessarily just Asian skin. I don’t think he was intending to be racist since he himself is Asian lol
@febed01 Жыл бұрын
I tend to agree. And Karate is as much of "yellow skin tone" origin as Kung-Fu, so it makes no sense for the character to use "yellow" as an ethnical trait (unless he's very dumb). I used to know karate practitionners being too proud of their "brute force" style that they see practicionners of less brutal styles as "no real men", etc, so my take is that he thinks that way.
@francoislbs63323 жыл бұрын
I think you guys didn't understand a thing. The karate guy in the movie is not white, he's japanese. It reflects some racism there was during the japanese domination in china.
