I love this song. My wife is a ballet dancer. She danced in a local company in Germany. She's all of 5' and 90 lbs soaking wet. We had been dating for a while and I was smitten with her. One day we went to the beach. She was wearing this gorgeous little black bikini that highlighted her beautiful olive skin. We were relaxing, listening to music when this song came on. She began dancing across the beach, twirling and spinning. I melted and knew she was my heart and soul at that moment. She's been my Tiny Dancer for 39 years.

I often need to remind myself that Bernie wrote all of the lyrics to Elton’s songs. As many of the commenters have mentioned, this song is on the Almost Famous soundtrack, and is part of one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history (because of this song). But, that movie is based on the true story of Cameron Crow, who started writing for Rolling Stone magazine as a teenager. In the movie he travels with a fictional band called "Stillwater", and it's his job to cover the band while they're on tour. He meets many, many interesting characters along the way -including Penny Lane played by Kate Hudson. It's an amazing movie. Get all snoogly on the couch and watch this movie.

And she has the best husband.. obviously because he deals with my crazy ass and he still loves me 😉. Also, it took over 30 YEARS to actually MAKE A VIDEO FOR THIS SONG... So y'all NEED to see that ESPECIALLY because it DOES help explain some of the lyrics. He and Bernie wrote this song on their very first trip to the USA ! Elton‘s writing partner explained it: Taupin says that the song is not about Maxine (his wife). Here's the story he tells: "We came to California in the fall of 1970, and sunshine radiated from the populace. I was trying to capture the spirit of that time, encapsulated by the women we met - especially at the clothes stores up and down the Strip in LA. They were free spirits, sexy in hip-huggers and lacy blouses, and very ethereal, the way they moved. So different from what I'd been used to in England. And they all wanted to sew patches on your jeans. They'd mother you and sleep with you - it was the perfect Oedipal complex." Taupin adds that the "tiny" was poetic license, although these women were all petite. And "Tiny Dancer" sounds a lot better than "Small Dancer" or "Little Dancer."

Tiny Dancer song meaning Talking about the song in an interview with Rolling Stone, Bernie Taupin said that they came to California in the fall of 1970. It seemed like the populace is radiating sunshine. The lyrics of the song capture the spirit of California from 1970. Talking about the meaning of Tiny Dancer, Bernie Taupin said that he was just trying to capture the spirit of that time. He shared that he was encapsulated by the women they met, especially at the clothes stores and restaurants and bars during the Sunset Strip. He further mentioned that the women were very contrasting to what he had seen in England. He also added that the women had a thing about embroidering clothes and they wanted to sew patches on the jeans. Bernie Taupin had called it a perfect oedipal complex. Bernie Taupin has effortlessly brought all these women to life by calling them ‘Blue Jean Baby’ in the song. See the Tiny Dancer song here. Who is Tiny Dancer about? According to a report by American Songwriter, the song was written about Maxine Feibelmann. She was the first wife of the lyricist Bernie Taupin. The report added that she was a seamstress for the band.
@heronpage38833 жыл бұрын
Bernie's lengthy story about it being about a bunch of women is pure bullshit. When this song came out, Elton John did an interview and said clearly the song was written by Bernie for and about his girlfriend Maxine. I knew Maxine's family very well, I met Bernie many times. I even saw him decades later in Los Angeles at a party and when he introduced me to his friends, he told them that I was friends with his first wife. One of the guys said "is that Tiny Dancer", and Bernie said yes I wrote that for her. I get so sick of hearing him rewrite history about this song. Maxine left him for his bass player I think Bernie is still pretty bitter about that and it's the only explanation I can come up with for why he would make up that stupid story about the song being about the California lifestyle and California women In general.

Elton John writes some spectacular melodies. His piano work, his arrangements, and his vocals are outstanding. But his smartest move of all time was teaming up with lyricist Bernie Taupin whose song lyrics made Elton's sweet melodies into monster hits.

Elton John - Your song or candle in the wind are probably his biggest hits. The latter was re written by Berni and Elton to become England's rose as a tribute to Lady Diana after she died. Fun fact:- A knighthood, and the female equivalent, a damehood, is an award given by the queen to an individual for a major, long-term, contribution in any activity, usually at a national or international level.” Men who are knighted become Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) and shall be called Sir, while women become Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE) and get the title Dame.
