Awesome. Never tried rapé, but have a few pounds of whole leaf ordered and on the way. Looks like I'll get my chance to make some and give it a try.

My favorite Yerba Mate is far and away "La Rubia". It happens to have a very nice tobacco-ish flavor.

Hello my friend, if you read at the botthm of the tin cover you will see the word "validade" which means Expiration date. That tin is from the batch that is "spoilling" on december 24, which I have here as well. It is very dry and around 5 years since it was manufactored. That style of Brazilian rapé is supposed to be dry but your sample should be considered over the top dried. Im not saying that it will go bad or that the person sent something bad to you, just making a consideration for you to have a better idea. That batch is still being sold and I still take mine, no issues with that expiration date. If you want to try some other brazilian snuffs hit me up.

Another thing, I know the owner of the Rapé Imperio do Brasil (Brazil's Empire Rape) maybe we can arrange something

Shoot me an email, snusathome@gmail.com. If this was this nice 5 years out of date, I can only imagine what fresh snuff would be like.

Hello Matt! This kind of tin is very hard to open the first time. You need to turn the top and the bottom and pull hard with some caution to not drop the rapé. Keep going with the reviews!

My friend, that one is really awsome, but, in my opinion the powder is very dry and content of small particles. About the fermentation, i really dont know if this was fermented, just "cooked". Well, this kind of snuff in Brazil is a very cheap snuff, and you can buy this one in every place, like intermunicipal bus stations, bars and groceries in general. There is another one good snuff in Brazil, who is more refinated, i mean, more special who's called Rapé Imperio do Brasil. This brand is very good and work hard brand, now, in my city a lot of people started to taste this one. Maybe you can have a try

I gotta find some! Eventually I’ll go to Brazil just for this.

The story of this kind of snuff is very funny and sad at the same time. Besides the indigenous rapé (which gave origin to the european dry snuff), Brazil produced rapés in the same way that europeans did, and it was extremely popular until the curse of the industrial cigarrette. After the curse, brazilian dry snuff's popularity evaporated, except in rural brazil, which it evolved (or should I say, devolved?) into a very rustic, plain and simple tobacco powder, sometimes mixed with other powders (like imburana, mentol and even cinnamon). Most people in the rural areas used it only as a medicine against sinus infections, allergies, etc. Nowadays, european-style dry snuff is regaining popularity throught the efforts of only two companies: Império do Brasil (literally "Brazilian Empire", has a lot of products, ranging from bavarian bütterschmalzlers to SPs, using authentic and traditional european methods, but sometimes with brazilian flavours) and Snuff (did not taste them yet, can't say much besides that they focus on english-style snuffs). Império do Brasil is extremely nice and many of their products are even nicer (for my taste) than famous brands like Bernard's and Samuel Gawith. Their "Réis" schmalzler is superb and the most complex dry snuff I've tasted so far. The "Signo" looks and feels like a schmalzler, but has a brazilian candy aroma, reminding me of cocada preta (toasted coconut candy). "Majestade" is english style and taste like a very expensive indian incense. "Ipiranga" is considered by some european reviewers as the second best latakia snuff of the world, losing only for Sir Walter Scott's. "Imperador Reservado" is, according to a famous german brazilian snuff enthusiast that has been snuffing in Bavaria, exactly like bavaria Bütterschmalzlers. They even make a mentol tobaccoless white snuff, the "Memento Mori", which is my wife's favourite. The Imperador you mentioned is very tobbacoy, people told me, but I didn't taste it yet. P.S.: the new age folks use the indigenous style rapé, which mixes tobacco with ashes of many plants and trees. They hate european-style snuff claiming that it's cultural apropriation and blasphemy against the indigenous religions...of course, it's not cultural apropriation when they, mostly white and black brazilians, use indigenous rapé in contexts radically different from indigenous rituals.🤷♂

I am a casual nasal snuff tobacco user but I don’t see any problem with people who want to use it for “spiritual enlightenment”, whatever that means.
@SnusAtHome4 ай бұрын
1. Overshadows the long tradition of ordinary nasal snuff in South America by replacing it in the common mind with something used for shadow-magic from the deepest amazon, and harms perception of traditional snuffs made by artisans there. 2. Allows scam-artists to sell really mid snuff for extremely high prices by convincing people that snuff has magical powers. (Seriously, google “spiritual hape for sale” and have a look at what 10g costs) 3. Delegitimizes snuff as a harm reduction product by placing it in a distinct category away from other tobacco products 4. Yuppies are really annoying I still think the overpriced magic shit is really fascinating, though. Same sort of curiosity I have for Eastern European nicotine pouches with 250mg of nicotine with labels where Rick and Morty are smoking pot with Freddy Fazbear or Pablo Escobar or whatever.

@@SnusAtHome thanks for the in depth reply and information. I didn’t know it was insanely overpriced. I agree I don’t buy into it but i see how it’s fascinating.

Hi, you should try Majestade snuff from Imperio do Brasil, it's fantastic, the herbaceous and floral flavor lasts for a long time, it's my favorite from this brand, hugs!

I will try! Brazilian snuff is nigh on impossible, and I’ve been dying to try some Imperio do Brasil for the longest. The idea of traveling south just to try some gets stronger every day!
