I’m curious do you actually think remake of two is not as good of an overall game as remake of one? Or are you just saying remake of one is more faithful? Like, if you never played the originals, do you really think you’d like the first remake more than the second? Because I would bet $1 million that everyone played 1, 2 and four they didn’t play the originals. Everyone would choose four and two over 1. Which is fine you’re allowed to like what you like I’m not saying that. I’m just so irritated with people saying Veronica needs a remake and deserves it because it’s a worse game than five which is a crazy take to say that means you deserve a remake and I’m so tired of people saying one was more faithful so it’s better. The question isn’t. Which game is worse. It’s game actually deserves a remake. Being a worst game doesn’t mean you deserve a remake and the next question is which game is better or your favorite which one is more faithful to the original. Don’t compare them to original compare them to each other and decide which one’s better. that’s a fighter improved 100% in the last 10 years and another fighter improved only 10% in the last 10 years from where he started but the one that improved 10% could still kick the crap out of the one that improved 100%, just because one improved more over that time doesn’t mean they’re better. You would say which one is better by letting them compete. Comparing them to where they originally started and where they are now. The question is which one is better, not faithful just like the question with fighting would be which one is better not which one improve the most.

@@jessejive117 I never played the OG1 or 2, so my perspective is from a newish fan...I just wasn't into Mr X that much - it was just a little bit annoying when he busted from a wall for 66th time. It's an amazing game nonetheless and i definitely don't think it's less faithful (from the little i've experienced from OG1). There's a really small space between 1, 4 and 2 for me, because each one is special in it's own way...But i simply enjoyed the survival horror aspect in RE1 and the crazy energy/gameplay loop of RE4 more that's all hehe

RE2 Remake was lacking a DLC for Ada escape which would be interesting seeing Ada drop on a platform to find the hookshot during falling part then using it to escape the lab but Capcom missed a good opportunity and RE3 was just lacking locations where I'm traveling 3 city blocks instead of traveling through half the city.

Ada got the hookshot from Wesker at the Apple Inn Hotel after the events of re2. Her "death" from falling off the platform didn't make sense in the original, and it was stupid to use it again in the remake. They should have used her B scenario "death" instead, or better yet, included both scenarios.

@@BerryNiceToMeetYou I wish they stay with Mr. X throwing Ada into the control panel ending which made the most sense but still it would be interesting if not ridiculous based on how they would do it to see Ada get the hookshot in the lab with Wesker watching the events to help Ada finding a hidden a G-Virus sample in the lab. If there was a way to explain how Ada gave another G-Virus sample and escape before so what stopped them from doing it again in the remake?

What makes Resident Evil special is that even the mainline series I consider less than stellar (Zero, Code Veronica, 5, 6) are solid games. Not sure there’s a game in the series I’d give below a 7/10.

My opinion, as a 35 year old gamer who grew up with Sega Mega Drive before getting the very first Playstation in 1996 at age 8: #1 - RE1 Remake - S #2 - RE4 - S #3 - RE4 Remake - S #4 - RE2 Remake - S #5 - RE2 - S #6 - RE3 - S #7 - RE1 - S #8 - RE3 Remake - B Explanation: ALL the originals deserve an S rank. RE2 and RE3 were my favourite 2 survival horror games on PS1. Their replayability was amazing because of the range of weapons and unlocking the infinite ammo weapons. RE2 A and B scenario, with Tyrant/Mr. X only appearing in B was incredible. Nemesis in RE3 was the greatest antagonist of all time in survival horror. RE1 was what started it all. It was more challenging than 2 and 3, but it had epic soul put into it, and the music and the 3 main areas of the mansion, the residence and the lab, cemented into my memory for the rest of my life, made it a truly classic experience. We would not have ANY more games without it, and it deserves to be S, even though it's graphics and gameplay and overall offering weren't quite as good as RE2 and RE3. Playing as Chris with only 4 item spaces is still to this day more challenging than most other modern survival horror games or modes, from original franchises or remakes of franchises such as RE. Now for the remakes. RE1 remake was utterly beautiful and took the first original game and went through every aspect with a fine tooth comb, while simultaneously remaining 100% faithful to the original game. The retaining of the fixed camera angles makes it scary and adds to the tension. This is because if you can't see what's coming around the corner you are glued to the edge of your seat and this is something that can NEVER be replicated from the player controlling the camera. RE4 Beta was originally going to use fixed camera angles and an antagonist called the hook man, but this in the end got shelved and part of the concept was used to create the original Devil May Cry. It is the greatest remake, no contest. It was built from the ground up, therefore not a HD Remaster like some people are claiming. The difference between RE1 and RE1 Remake may only have been 6 years but the difference between those and The Last of Us and The Last of Us "Remake" is world's apart. You can barely even tell TLoU Remake is a different game, because it plays 95% identically to the original, and is effectively a HD Remaster, even though from a technical standpoint it was built from the ground up again. The difference between RE1 and RE1 Remake is glaringly obvious, especially with the new crimson head enemies, the way you can use fuel to burn zombie bodies you have taken down, the addition of the altar section and new boss Lisa, and the lower level of the courtyard that never existed either. RE2 Remake is fantastic and also deserving of an S. It beautifully tells the story in modern top notch graphics and while it makes several significant changes to the original, it manages to produce an overall better game than the original. The original at times felt quite easy having an Easy mode and you could just start of with 150 handgun bullets and go crazy. The zombies were easier than RE1 in the original RE2 but in RE2 remake the zombies were made just that bit tougher, especially with the new randomized swaying animations that cause you to miss a few bullets here and there. Mr. X is also just as terrifying as the original, although minus his loud music this time. I did prefer his final form in the original but the Ada and Sherry parts were much more memorable in the remake than the original too. Chief Brian Irons was given a bit more of a creepy backstory and this worked really well with how William Birkin crossed paths with him, and then eventually Mr. X, if playing as Claire. The moment running to the elevator where William Birkin is effectively still partly human when taking down Mr. X in order to protect his daughter and let her get away is brilliant. The game is ridiculously fun and a great great remake. RE3 Remake obviously is at the bottom, but it isn't as bad as a C ranking. I have given it a B because the game is beautifully made, although much too short. The clock tower section that kept the tension going (and growing) with further increasing tense music, was foolishly missed out from the remake and a worthy director's cut will add this section back in and make Nemesis into a middle form, in between his base form and his "dog" form, in order to make him as terrifying as possible, fast, and potentially able to one hit kill Jill if she stays too close for too long. The city was slightly smaller than the original, although the power plant was retained, we didn't get to go back through the RPD like we did in the original, which was a shame. Other than that, I found Nemesis quite scary in the first runthrough, while it was fresh, but yes once he becomes familiar he isn't as terrifying as the original Nemesis from RE3. The worm boss from original was also absent. They could easily add the worm into the mix after the tram derails and before you become aware of Nemesis still being alive. Perhaps in a boss encounter with worm after 15-20 mins following the tram derail Nemesis could make a sudden appearance and either kill the worm outright, after you've weakened it sufficiently, and then continue chasing you, or could absorb some of the mutation from the worm into itself in order to become a horrifying second form of Nemesis like I mentioned earlier. He could then effectively have a worm-like tentacle arm that can grab you very quickly and pull you back to Nemesis if in too close vicinity. The rest of the remake was pretty good. The characters were great, the set pieces were done well and it made it unique in it's own right compared to the other remakes. The only other main thing they should've kept was Brad being killed by Nemesis. Having him killed by some zombies during the initial city escape was underwhelming and not true or faithful to the entire franchise at all. He escaped the original mansion incident yet got killed so early on in RE3 Remake? I don't buy it. Being killed by Nemesis though? Definitely. And Brad should've simply been separated from you where he got killed in the bar and then where you're going underground to the tram when Nemesis is firing his rocket launcher at you, somewhere around there is where Brad should've been killed, in order to let you and Carlos escape, as a meaningful sacrifice, to prevent the growing power and strength of Nemesis from catching Jill and Carlos. It was still a very fun remake nevertheless, just not as high quality overall to be given an S. It can't get an A either because of the things I've already listed, but it is better than a C, because as a survival horror game, it is pretty decent.

It uses new assets, new voice acting, new pre-rendered backgrounds, new puzzles, new enemies, new locations and new re-scripted story. RE1 Remake never used any assets from the PS1 original. Lisa Trevor was never even in the original. It was NEVER a remaster unless you talk about its 2015 version where the remake was widely re-released. A remaster is game that was initially released in the past but now with enhanced resolution, graphics and better FPS.

Not gonna lie, I love both titles. RE4 Og is one of my first favorite ps2 game when i was 16. I never believe that i replay this game non stop especially i get all of unlockable weapons. And also it creep me out when I play the village section and get chased by bunch of ganados. In Remake, i can say it's worth it and bring the game into whole new level. In my opinion is the ganados attack. They have all their new way to pursuit and attack by grabbing, throw axes etc and the most difficult part is to perform stagger and even you used QTE to perform melee attack but still get interrupted by enemy moves. The story remains original, the story line make it better and looking more logical way. I love this and i never believe it i had 54 playthrough within 800++ hours total play time for this game. I love them both. Rate 10/10 to REMAKE and OG

It's weird. Even though Resident Evil from 2002 *is* a remake, it really doesn't feel like one. I think that's because so many people, such as myself, consider it the defining game of the entire series. It's pretty much the pinnacle of what I feel the franchise represents. That, and the fact that it also came out 15+ years before any of the other remakes. It just feels like it's own thing.

Re1 remake is 100% faithful and only expands upon the original and just really perfected the original re I mean not many people if you were to put the original PS1 version in front of them or the GameCube version or just a remastered version of this on any system available these days, which one do you think they would choose to play? It still shocks me that they did so good with mister X in RE2 Remake. They only had to use the same formula, turn it up to eleven, and have Nemesis run at you. RE4 was something my dad played and something I would watch, and I loved it..ofc he was stacked and on his like 13th play through but still Then the remake came out and I got to experience it, with my dad enjoying watching me..not only did it make me enjoy my time playing the game, but it brought back memories of when I would watch my dad play the OG

There are two HD fan mods for these games on PC. One using PC isos called Classic Rebirth. Another using GameCube isos and Emulator called RE Seamless HD Project. Worth checking out if you don't mind messing around on PC.

I was a huge fan of the original Resident Evil 2 for PS1. No, i didn't play it as a kid. These games scared the shit outta me as a kid. I played them around the time I graduated high school. The 2nd game stood out more from the original PS1 trilogy because it had WAY more replay abilities with the A and B scenarios. Plus, the story was the best out of all three. I remember hearing that they were coming out with the Remake of RE2. I was anticipating it and when I got it and played it I said now this is how you reamake a game. I wish it had a better A and B scenario swapping like the original, but I understand. RE2 remake and the Original RE2 are my favorites in the franchise.

Ironically I put more time into the RE3 remake than any of the other remakes. Wish it was longer and they didn't cut content, but I did have a lot of FUN playing through it. I think RE4R will take the crown though. Just finally got around to beating the RE4 Remake and wow.

Just to clarify, I've only played the remakes. 1. RE2 R + RE4 R 2. RE1 R 3. RE3 R I had so much fun playing through Resident Evil 2 and 4 and they’re made in a way that I’ll definitely play them multiple times.

Man, i wish they used the animations from RE2 Remake in RE3 Remake. The zombies were just so much better in RE2R, the way they moved, blowing off body parts as they still continue after you. The ragdolls were phenomenal and made shooting far more enjoyable. RE3 used more canned animations which was dissapointing to me. The only thing i liked about RE3R was the visuals. They were really good.

Unless they retcon the original story timeline, RE5 should follow RE4. CV was set before RE4 and is the game that originally revealed that Wesker was still alive (and now superhuman). That being said, I think all references to Umbrella going bankrupt were removed from RE4R, so they technically could place it after RE4R and use it to better set up RE5R.

What a lot of people don't realize is how your nostalgia for 3 and the hype for 3R clouds your opinion of 3R. In real life NOBODY who played 3R first, or who played them around the same time would actually prefer 3R. I missed the Original 3. For me (and I'm sure I'm forgetting something here and there) I played the RE games in roughly this order 4,2,5,1,1R,0,7,2R,3R,3,8,4R. And 3R I played only days before 3. 3R is worlds better than 3 if you don't have nostalgia for 3, and if you play 3R after hearing everyone say it's bad instead of with all the hype it had after 2R released you will realize it's not a bad game at all. It's actually super faithful in the sense that 3 is an attempt to capitalize on how great 2 was using some of 2's assets, and 3R is an attempt to capitalize on how great 2R was using some of 2R's assets. In both cases 1,2 and 4 are the better entries in both the original and remade sets and 3R was rushed to capitalize on the hype of 2R and without knowing for certain I would bet that 3 was also rushed out to try to capitalize on the hype from 2.

What cracks me up is how Capcom went away from their original formula to supposedly appeal to a wider mainstream audience. They went away from the puzzle solving survival horror back tracking original formula and went with a more action oriented even FPS games in an attempt to appeal to the masses...And yet it's their remakes of the original formula games that's selling more copies and getting the good reviews. This is why I say Japanese developers are the worse. They always eventually try to change their games and go in different directions and end up ruining Franchises.

RE1R is absolute; RE2R is excellent for conveying the essence of the original with some caveats; RE3R is a completely forgettable game; RE4R is great, especially for new players, but for those who take the history of the franchise seriously, it's just a bang bang to pass the free time.

I actually liked Veronica more than five, but I still would rather see five remade before code Veronica or should I say over code Veronica, if we could only have one because it’s going to be a better better game overall, because it has more potential, which means it deserves the remake. I hate when people say, Veronica is an overall worst game in every way, so it deserves the remake. That’s actually what makes it not deserve remake. Haha do you want the best overall product. You don’t want to choose the game that could benefit from the most whereas the remake could be the most improved and increased quality from where it started. You want whatever overall is going to be the best and sell the most

Five was really hard for me to finish but code. Veronica was not. That’s kind of how I choose which one I like the most. Five was a bit of a chore, but again it has a lot of potential. And I still like the remake of three a lot. It was just too short. They should make raccoon city like 2 1/2 times bigger and add some more sections and some puzzles a little better and it would be just as good as the other other ones I think. Change a couple things about nemesis and how he operates.

@@jessejive117 call me biased but I love it a lot because of it’s amusement park feeling and the way the game was layed out made me feel like I was playing a gothic survival horror version of Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (one of my personal Top 5 games). I do have my gripes with the game like the village not being more lively and bad but funny voice acting. Especially the fact that you can’t go back the Castle mid game just kind of annoys me (unless there is some way I don’t know about). However I do think the story is really good, and I actually like Ethan’s character more, and I really love the lore in that game. RE has always excelled in the hidden stories about how each biohazard came into fruition and Village has a strong one as well.

I wouldn't say 4R is "bad", but it's somewhat dull. It lacks spirit and creativity that the original had 18 years ago. The game is significantly shorter and lacks ambiance. Sadly, Ada's PAID dlc stole parts of Leon's campaign, sacrificing memorable moments from the classic game to extend Ada's campaign. Wesker's involvement blows the mystery around him. Add to that a combat and recovery system that is still very 2005. I give OG 4 an 8.5; 4R gets a 6.5 to 7 from me.

RE1R is easy B tier because of its lack of content over the original. RE4R is easy S+ but just barely because of its lack of content and selling the complete edition as DLC. Capcom is greedy and I hate them for some of their decisions. RE4R has the most content because Capcom had to release 2 subpar remakes and deal with people complaining about lack of content

What I didn't like about re3make. Jill looks, to put it mildly, unattractive, and she has a cringe b*tch type of personality. Nemesis looks ridiculous with a broken little nose on his face, not comparable to the original. Zombies just like in RE2 remake, they are not scary like in classic games (it'd take a long time to tell why). The atmosphere is absent, as if you are running across a theater stage, in the original, it is unsurpassed and legendary, the in-game world felt like an actual world, despite the graphics, somehow it feels more alive. Two things that I liked in the remake are Nikolai and Jill's outfit. Nicolai was definitely the best part of this garbage remake, heartless and yet colorful and memorable because of cool hairstyle. And Jill's outfit, as much as I love the original, here it is much more serious and appropriate. Oh, and Carlos's hair was funny

I'm gonna have to put the resident evil 4 remake at a B tiered. because the first 3 puzzles of the game are difficult. They change salzar from a midget with a high-pitched voice to a Benjamin Franklin looking character. Also, the switch's puzzles on the island were difficult. Also, the d l c came out super late, and the laser gun was not in the dlc. The mercenaries was completely different from the original and it made a kind of stupid, but the only saving grace was that if you heard a doubled bladed chainsaw man you where like oh shit oh shit oh shit he's coming. I also got criticized the shooting range it was horrible and difficult. But the mind carts spot was actually pretty fun

Very respectable list. The RE1R is just perfect. It hit every single note, but the HD version cut too many corners (like reusing and not correctly upscaling some FMVs). RE4R, for me, is better than the original. I played and LOVED RE4 back in the day, but I always felt it was kind of stupid with the whole statue thing, jokes galore, Saddler being the WORST villain in the franchise, the annoying Ashley, and so. RE4R fixed and that and more (just ruined Ada's voice). RE2R os great, but they should've made completely different campaigns for Leon and Claire. Implementing A and B scenarios as an afterthought was a mistake. They feel so, so awkward and half-baked... Anyway, good game. RE3R... I had fun with it, but it's abysmal compared to 1999 RE3.
