As someone who lives in the Highlands and is into model railways, I wish there is more highland railway locos that are available ready to run.

Well Rapido also brought out an ex GWR 16XX 0-6-0PT- and two of them were at Helmsdale shed to operate the branch from Dornoch to the Mound

Hi Jenny. Another excellent, well-balanced and expert review. It's a great looking loco. Totally agree with your view on how to deal with problematic issues with newly purchased items: give the supplier the opportunity to make things right before launching into "outraged of Tunbridge Wells" mode.

Mine came yesterday (Friday)-the yellow one of course! I was expecting it to be more of a primrose yellow but it's a darker shade than that, but the paperwork that comes with it confirms that it is Stroudley yellow-yes, they DO call it yellow-and that must be correct as they have done all the proper research One small grouse though. I ordered mine (with sound) direct from Rapido as soon as they were announced as I didn't want to miss out, but if I'd waited I could have saved myself around £50 by ordering from one of the retailers. That's water under the bridge now, and I don't really mind as it gives Rapido more funds to go towards new models. Overall, though, I'm very pleased with it.

Fortunately I saw this excellent review very soon after you posted it and managed to buy the gorgeous yellow one from Rails.....lucky as they seem to have sold out now.....mine is sitting downstairs in its box until Xmas. Greatly looking forward to opening it. It looks an incredible model. I do find your reviews really well put together and enjoyable to watch..well done

Great review, thank you. Mine is on it's way now. The pre-grouping period offers so much potential in loco variation and liveries.

That livery is gorgeous and I was very tempted to go for it, but only being able to afford one in the end decided to go for the yellow, sorry I meant improved colour-blind green livery, which I know have reached the model shop so hopefully it will be with me sometime in the next week - just in time for my birthday!🎁🚂😀 N.B. With regards to Rapido's customer service I had a chat with their head honcho at Not Worley. He made the point that models these days are practically handmade and where there's a human element there will always be the odd one that isn't perfect. His view was that it's then down to how the manufacturer deals with it. In Rapido's case he said their policy was to repair/replace as appropriate without quibble. So if anybody buys a new Rapido model and has a problem don't hesitate to contact them. Whilst I can't speak from personal experience, from what I've heard anecdotally this does appear to be the case and their customer service sounds to be excellent.
@JenniferEKirk16 күн бұрын
Their customer service is definitely excellent and I absolutely agree that how a company reacts to an issue is very much a measure of their quality. Locomotives are expensive and, hand made or not, if there's an issue and it gets fixed without fuss that's exactly what we as a community need.

It is very nice, I hope they put some mind to making it a friend in the form of the Caledonian 49 class. They'd look very nice together in the collection
@speleokeir15 күн бұрын
Agreed, an excellent suggestion. And who doesn't love the Caledonian blue livery? Some suitable liveried evolution coaches to go with both would be nice too.

Hello Jenny ,I’ve just received my version in LMS black with red lining from TMC, this is a great model the detail must be one of the best, thank you for your review, the only thing I had an issue with was connecting the tender a bit tricky. best wishes James

I really fancy the yellow one but my funds went on an O1 as I'm a southern modeller. There's so much coming right now with the E1, O1, K class and T3! I just can't justify the Jones. One to admire on other people's layouts

What a gorgeous locomotive!! I have an old Caledonian Single that is part of the Hornby Caledonian Train Pack.

I think I’ll probably get one of those!! Mine would be a sound fitted version because I prefer a sound fitted model over one that is merely prepared.

I have the "yellow" liveried version in the post and am very much looking forward to its arrival I have to say all the liveries look smashing and I'm particularly intrigued by the one in BR black, which I'm guessing it never, in reality, appeared in. Next lets have the DX Goods please :-) ?

These Locomotives are very similar to the New South Wales Railways C32 Class 4-6-0 Locomotives, 50 being built by Beyer Peacock in 1892. These locomotives lasted until the end of steam with 3246 working the very last steam hauled passenger train to run in Australia.
