I found this collection of HO scale BNSF locomotives on eBay a few months ago and have been meaning to unbox and repair the lot.
I was aware beforehand that these would all need work since they were all being sold off as parts units however some needed a bit more effort than expected due to a lack of maintenance by the previous owner.
My spare parts bin was working overtime for this one and for the first time ever I designed some parts for the 3D printer to put together. I'm overall very pleased with the results.

Nice work on bringing back the SD40-2 and the ES44 as well. I believe 5838 is a fictional BNSF AC6000CW from Broadway Limited Imports as I used to have a Union Pacific model many years ago. Well done on giving them some much needed love.

That GE locomotive at 1:46 is actually an AC6000 from Broadway Limited part of their fantasy schemes in which is done up to represent an AC4000 as BNSF never owned any AC6000s. Broadway Limited also did a CP ac6000, and SP ones for the same reason. The only class 1s that had them were UP and CSX. UP has since rebuilt theirs into C44ACMs while CSX got rid of theirs
@MattS_Filmography
@MattS_Filmography 19 сағат бұрын
I believe only a small handful of the UP 6000 carbodies were true AC6000s. Most had the common 7FDL-16 prime mover, and were named AC4460CW

With the truck on the Walthers engine, that PROBABLY worked because Walthers now owns Atlas, and they share parts and designs alot of the times.
@randallellison6421
@randallellison6421 17 сағат бұрын
Walthers does not own Atlas! Atlas reached an agreement with Walthers to purchase all of their (Walthers) N scale tooling back in 2018! Atlas is currently owned by Poseidon Aquisition Corp. Walthers owns the assets of Life-Like (purchased in 2005), which includes the former Proto 1000 and 2000 lines (now branded under the Walthers Mainline and Walthers Proto names respectively). But as I stated earlier, Atlas is not owned by Walthers, Atlas just owns the N scale tooling from Walthers.

Congrats on getting those four BNSF beauties up and running! That’s such a gorgeous logo and base color, it was sweet to see the fleet rolling (if only they gave all been hauling some freight….) I really admired your 3-d printing experiments on these locos. I think you’ll really go far after such a good run though in this episode. Great work as usual, Harrison!

Some of these might be worth finding parts for, handrails, wheel sets, etc. so perhaps if you can find some at the train store or something it could really make something nice. It'd be really worth it too since each unit was $17 so sinking a little bit ($10-$25) you'd still have a rock solid bargain because you would have paid essentially ~$40 per locomotive which is incredible for a modern-ish walthers GE or Kato sd40-2. But, 3d printing might be better because you can get exactly what you would need for a certain unit. But what a good deal you found though seriously wow $17 CAD per locomotive is like $12 USD

You got lucky getting an AC6000CW (It has two smoke stacks) and actually it is made no other than is Broadway limited (Very expensive like about ranging from $200 to $300) because I have one of them I got from train show last week but it’s not in BNSF paint scheme but I have only CSX Y2 paint scheme. Those bad boys has 6,000 horsepower engine which is obvious that they have two smoke stacks.

Used locomotives like these are crazy to me. You see how mangled they are and just have to wonder how and why they ended up like that? I know we had a gentleman in my home model railroad club who for whatever reason would get new locomotives and then strip them all down to just parts. So he has bins of pieces but had only a couple actual runners. He has since passed away and his stuff was adopted by the club. So now I go through his bins of parts and I feel like I cannot find all the right pieces to assemble a running engine. Sad to see so many potential locomotives be incomplete!
