Oh and was he!!! I loved him so so so much, just always smiling, and he made you smile even when you didn't want to!!! He has so many gems, and a rabbit hole worth diving into. "Mornin", "Moonlighting", "After All, "Breakin Away", and he was even in USA For Africa, if you didn't notice before! Thank you for reacting to this treasure of a man that we all miss so very much. 🙏🏽💞

Al Jareau was definitely played on the radio. He also sang the opening on the hit show, Moonlighting. That was also a big hit for him. That show brought Bruce Willis into the limelight and he starred in Die Hard a couple of years later. His costar was Cybil Sheppard. She was already a star. Jarreau was part of our Zeitgeist for sure.

He's a legendary and unique Jazz vocalist. I had the honor of seeing him in concert and he is like a human mockingbird. He imitated every instrument in the band and when they all joined in again he had never lost the Rhythm or the key with his voice. Listen to him on Take Five for some skilled Jazz vocals❤👍

There is nothing better than watching musicians react to songs they are not familiar with and being so open minded about different genres than what they were raised on! I love how open you are about trying new songs. If you want to hear a really talented singer, you need to check out Eva Cassidy’s take on Over the Rainbow! She did a live show in DC at a small venue, and it’s one of the only live performances she gave. She is phenomenal and will give you chills. She died at age 33 and during this performance she was dying of melanoma and didn’t know yet. Her take on this is so personal and takes your breath away! I believe the venue is Blues Alley. Really enjoy your reactions!

This is probably Al’s biggest hit, & there was a ballad called After All that probably made its way up some charts but this one probably brought in largest $$$$. That said, his most spectacular work is his more jazz related joints such as Take Five, Spain & Blue Rondo. What an amazing eclectic career Al had. Truth be told , rap music owes a little bit of shout out to Al Jarreau (pronounced Jehroe’), as he was one of the 1st recorded to really get into vocal percussion, like the foundation of beat box. Rap group The Fat Boys utilized beat boxin quite a bit, especially in a sample they had with The Beach Boys. Anyway, you saw Al in the We Are the World video. His part is right after Willie Nelson & before Springsteen. I got into his work from a double record live album called Look to the Rainbow. That one will take you on a journey, especially Take Five. 👍🏾
