I'm 54 and I've been a fan of Metal since the 80's. I admit that I have a hard time getting down with the younger bands and their sound. But these guys are amazing! I've been a fan for a while, they started in 2004 and immediately drew me in. They're from Sheffield, England and they helped kick start a whole new wave of British Metal bands. Oliver Sykes is a powerful singer and I've seen them at Wacken Open Air and Hellfest Festival and it was two of the best concerts that I've ever attended. Please keep going down their rabbit hole.

BMTH is such an amazing band. They have evolved over time from a smaller DeathCore band into a massive band that can move between regular Hard Rock to MetalCore to EMO to Punk to Pop and back again. They cannot be contained in a genre label. Try things like Ludens, Happy Song, Parasite Eve, Drown (Live at Albert Hall), Shadow Moses, Kingslayer (with Baby Metal), Die4U, N/A, Teardrops, and so much more.

You're 100% right in saying this song is for a whole generation. The album this is off (Sempiternal) is thee greatest album BMTH has done, imo. If you were to do full album reactions, leave that one till last. It's one of those albums that 20/30 years from now will still absaloutly slap from start to finish.

The most important context to the lyrics of Can You Feel My Heart as well as the entire Sempiternal album is that it was the first BMTH album written, recorded & released after Oli got treatment for a ketamine addiction that he had been struggling with for many years & had progressively taken over his life, ruined (nearly ended) all of his relationships & was a barrier to him being the person in his personal life & professional life that he wanted to be. Oli has said as he got more clear headed, that he realized how badly he had hurt people while in his addiction, and that he was determined to walk out of treatment and prove that it was worth it for those people to not give up on him, as well as prove he took the band seriously by actually learning proper singing techniques (he had no formal vocal training up to that point), being more intentional with the music/lyrics he wrote & by getting involved in the production process & in music video directing.

Its funny to say theyre a new sound... theyre actually jsut insanely revolutionary. Ina way, theyre like the metal version of Linkin Park, always pushing limits and boundaries. BMTH is actually a OG "Myspace Metal" for all of us old heads. Thats where they got their start. Suicide Season was INCREDIBLE and always good to listen to, and their music vids are always incredible. I hope you do more from them, and check out their different phases. Diamonds are Forever is a classic fav of mine. "We will never sleep.... sleep is for the weak!" Let's GO!!!

Last year, I listened to every album they've put and out and also listened to this one on release. Early on they leaned too much into all the screaming where later albums leaned to into synth-core. This album found the perfect balance, I gave the album 10/10. Out of all their songs, I recommend you check out a classic "Throne" and a new song "n/A"

Saw these guys at Reading festival back in the day (i'd like to say 2008?). Slipknot and avenged sevenfold pulled out, so they were bought in to open the day. No one really knew them, but they asked if people could start a mosh pit to limber up for the other acts and he really endeared himself to the crowd. Amazing to see how far they went from substitute opening Sunday act to headliners.

This is the song that got me into the band. Becayof thw lyrics. He always brings is with the lyrics. But non of their albums sound the same. The new album is kinda, pop punk, hyperpop and metal bits here and there. Very different sound to this. But they always change it up. Og fans arnt generally keen. But i love their mixture of sounds. Never get boring put it that way. Oli sykes has cime on in leaps and bounds vocally since this album. Theyve been going 20 uears,so not all that new. But neebto us oldies, and imnolder than you.🤪 But i love this stuff. They did a song with a rapper too. Dayam what was that rapper called. The song was called fallout. Rapper was Something wolf. Damit!

Welcome to BMTH!!! Those masks, were the medieval version of the covid mask, only with a real purpose as those long beaks were stuffed with medicinal herbs and acted as filters for doctors during the Black Plague pandemic that struck Europe in the 14Th Century. BMTH lyrics can go extremely deep or dark so thread carefully. "Darkside" and "Kingslayer" are my favs.

Screaming is just the word for “distorted vocals” so if u scream ur voice is getting distorted meaning it’s not staying fully in pitch. There’s different ways of screaming using different techniques. Growling is the low, deep, animalistic sounds which u usually would call a “false cord scream” cus it uses ur false vocal folds more to create the distorted sound instead of using ur normal vocal cords. A fry scream is usually a higher pitch scream, it uses a mix of vocal fry (which is the same base as if u push a tiny bit of air out without making a pitch and ur voice only does this slight popping noise) and just kinda manipulating that and pushing that while singing in pitch. Growl/guttural/false chord = Low screams (Alex Terrible is a master of growling) Fry = another technique of usually high pitch screams (Chester Bennington was a master at fry screaming like the long scream in “given up”)
