"He was off in one direction, and I went off in another direction. I come around this corner and I step into the creek. And just as I spied this thing, it spied me. It was this big, furry mass coming my way. It flipped and popped its tail and scared the s--t out of me, and I scared the s--t out of it. It was this giant beaver. I mean, it was huge. So it kind of got in my head. This big brown beaver, big brown beaver. Okay. Well, how can I make a song out of that? And then it became, 'Wynona's got herself a big brown beaver.' And from there it just built into this little mythological character that obviously had a little double entendre to it."

Best concert I ever attended? Primus opening for Rush in 1993. Holy shit. The Roll The Bones/Seas Of Cheese tour. My college classmate and I took a midterm on a Tuesday afternoon, drove 5 hours, saw the show, slept 5 hours, drove 5 hours back, and took another midterm. In less than 24 hours. And made A's on both. And STILL got to see Neil Peart's live drum solo in between.

My Name is Mud, Tommy the Cat, Jerry was a Racecar Driver, Too Many Puppies, Mr Krinkle are most of their most well known songs, but I love their entire catalog. Les Claypool (bass) is considered one of the top bass players, Larry Lalonde (guitar) is considered one of the first death metal guitarists from the band Possessed, and Tim Alexander (drums) is one of the few drummers that can work with this band. Primus is awesome!!! Les Claypool has a massively extensive catalog of music. Here are a few of his bands and this is by far not all of them: Primus, Sausage, OysterHead, Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless flying frog brigade, Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel present Highball with the Devil, MIRV, Les Claypool's Fancy Band, that's all I can recall at the moment. I know I'm missing a couple but If you want a rabbit hole here you go. It won't disappoint!! Btw he does a cover of 'The devil went down to Georgia' as well. He has done many Pink Floyd covers in fact On the Frog Brigade 'Live Frogs Set 2' is the entire Pink Floyd album 'Animals'. But you should start with 'My name is Mud ' On the album 'Pork Soda '❤❤

massive primus fan for many many years. a few things.... Funny you should mention the devil went down to georgia as they have a cover of that and its fantastic. A lot of people would view primus as a 'joke' band. They certainly are not. they are light hearted and certainly dont take themselves seriously all the time but there are tracks in the discography with a very real and serious message. Yes they all can really play, Les Claypool is widely recognised as one of the greatest bassists of all time and the things he can do with the instrument are honestly mind blowing. Guitarist Larry Lalonde is criminally under rated. To be able to write stuff to go with Les's basslines alone take enormous skill and he hits it out the park every time. They have had a few drummers over thier career and once again all are supremely tallented. Theres a real rabbit hole to jump down with primus for sure thatt will cover all moods and emotions and there are 'spin off' bands to should you wanna jump down those holes to haha. Stick with them and listen to something a little more serious would be my suggestion.

Primus used to play at small clubs all the time in Oakland and Berkeley area. I have seen them many, many many times. They never disappoint! Mosh pits were epic. What makes me like Primus? The uniqueness, humor, musicianship. As others have said, they have been categorized as their own sound. I believe it was on Apple Tunes that the category was "Primus". Most every video they put out has some humor to it and they all play the hell out of their instruments.
