Excellent reaction. Here's some info on Brian the guitarist, Sir Brian May PhD The original version of his guitar (the Red Special) was designed and made by him and his dad when he was 16. He gave up his studies (Astrophysics) when Queen kicked off, he continued them after Freddie's death and received his PhD He has been knighted. A few years ago, he was listed by Guitar World as the greatest living rock guitarist. Bands like Metallica, Guns n Roses, Nine Inch Nails all cite him as an influence. He has written some of their hardest rockers and sweetest ballards. He also songs a few of their songs and his solo work (3 studio + 1 live albums) sounds the most like Queen.

Here are a couple of live Queen performances for your consideration: Montreal 1981 Save Me, Milton Keynes 1982 Play the Game, Wembley 1986 Now I'm Here and One Vision... the One Vision video (extended) is a really good look at how they work in the studio... there is also a documentary showing how they wrote it, which is fun to see.

I think dear old Freddie was a world class expert at the live performances but the bottom line i think was he just loved his audiences so much and they knew that. He was a very loving person, something that he admitted in his interviews a very genuinely kind and caring man. RIP Freddie Mercury.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this. Brian went to watch a 20 minute clip of the movie Highlander that he was asked to write a song for. The movie and particular scene was about an immortal man married to a mortal woman. The scene is where she is old and dies. Brian wrote this in the back seat of his car driving back from watching the clip. The band ended up writing all the songs for the movie.

Hey, Prada.. I'm sure some people will already have let you know, but this song was written for the movie "Highlander".. (which was actually not such a bad movie, considering the time).. they wrote quite a few songs for that soundtrack.. check out Brian on those keys.. then switching to guitar... (he wrote it, BTW)... Freddie's performance tends to be so amazing, that some of the other band members get "lost"... Love your reactions...

Another great reaction! I am loving this Queen journey you’re on! Everyone has their own favorite Queen songs. Definitely check out The Show Must Go On. They never performed it live because it was recorded not long before Freddie’s death. Brian May (the guitarist) wrote it about his views on Freddie’s illness and his perseverance through it all to continue to record music. They also couldn’t make a video for it because Freddie was way too sick to do it. The video is a compilation of a bunch of their other videos and live concert performances through the years. It is extremely powerful and beautiful. Can’t wait for you to hear it❤❤❤

The Queen you have reacted to so far is mostly from the mid-80's when they are playing to big stadiums and writing songs that work in those circumstances. Early Queen from the 70's is different -- a lot more varied, from folk songs to stuff that sounds like jazz and early metal. Check out "Stone Cold Crazy", live at the Rainbow 1974: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWTUgJaDgrSBo8k Then in the late 80's when Freddie got too sick to tour or eventually even do videos the music got more mature and complex. No live performances, but some great official videos. I recommend "I Want it All" or "Innuendo"

If you can find it, I suggest you watch the Movie Highlander. Yes the cameras weren't particularly in very high def but the story-line was great. The actors were all very good and Queen did the WHOLE sound track. If you make it through this track while watching the movie, you're a 'tougher' person than I am. This is a Brian May composition. He always writes the deep moving songs. This is my favourite Queen song. I also love the Alan Lambert rendition from the Isle of Wight festival in 2016. Wondrful. Can also suggest the song Too Much Love can Kill you.
