Am not ashamed to admit it, I cried the day this song came out in my care after work this sound brought me back to a childhood place where Linkin Park made me feel heard, and invincible, and it made me miss a man who never knew me and I never knew all the more. RIP Chester

Lyrics hit f**king hard, especially since we know how the story ends. RIP Chester Bennington. I agree with you too, time does not heal all things, it simply makes the pain bearable. And RIP to your mom homie. I lost my 19 year old kid brother 15 years ago and the pain is still fresh.

As we say in our fan base… Chester screamed like a demon and sang like an angel, and I’m sure you heard that through their lyrics. I was lucky enough to see them live three times and it blew me away every time…I swear I lost my voice every time I saw them in concert. God the world misses him #makechesterproud

LP music has always resonated with me as I was ab***d as a child and have struggled with mental health and depression all my life. I cannot put in to words how much the band and their music has saved my life numerous times. Depression is a difficult and daily battle and Chester (and the other band members) have always been very open with it. RIP Chester 🙏

You are absolutely correct, u just learn to live with it but the pain is always there. I lost son, 1/2/22, he was my only child and its an ever lasting pain n a void i can never ever fill over

Nobody should ever be ashamed of having emotions, if you listen to the words in the song and a lot of the other songs damn near all of them, you can just hear him crying out for help. But as much as a lot of people don't want to admit it everybody is wearing a disguise, some people just don't want you to see the pain in their eyes especially if you have people that look up to you want to stay strong for them no matter how bad you're hurting

I think you have a beautiful interpretation of the lyrics, and while my mother is still alive, my brother died at the age of 23 back in 08, so that's where i'm drawing my interpretation from. - the 2nd verse gave me a little trouble for awhile, but when i think back to how i felt back then, i was irrational and unfair, i forcefully made others fill the void left behind, and when they obviously couldn't do it because they weren't my brother, i felt betrayed and even more lost once more. I still miss that bastard every day, and sometimes i need something to drag out that sorrow and give me a good cry - Linkin Park has done that for me for 16 years now.

To me it was him talking about his abuse growing up. He was molested from the age of seven until the age of 13. He was bullied in school alot He turned to alcohol, marijuana, opium, cocaine, meth, and LSD and at the age of 17, to try to cope with it and he went through a lot that he couldn't talk about. This song didn't make it on the track because #1 it was too much like Numb and they didn't want to replace Numb or something else because it was to be only 12 songs. And they didn't put it on the next one because they wanted to change what they were doing. And the anime is a flash back to one of their other music videos. For nostalgia reasons and they wanted to use clips of Chester. But not just use old concert clips plain. But I'm so glad we now have it now. Thanks LP for releasing it. I know it was hard for them. I cry listening to it. And I've heard it 100 plus times now. He is a legend ♥️ rip chester

So it's time for me to finally talk about why Linkin Park are so important to me. I've tried not to think about it since Chester's passing because of how deep seated and integral they were to me growing up and to my musical persona. All the bands prior to LP that I had grown up listening to were amazing (Nirvana, Radiohead, RHCP) - but at the time they felt like other people's music that was popular and fantastic but I was listening to it then because others had listened to them prior to me. LP were the first band that I chose, they were for me, they made music that expressed exactly how I was feeling and they were the absolute cornerstone of my musical development. They were an absolute powerhouse, no-one else came close to them while they were releasing Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, Meteora, Live in Texas (my most watched music dvd ever, it's so epic) and Collision Course. I can still remember where I was when I bought each of those albums and listened to them for the first time....not something I can say for any other band I've listened to (and my musical library is vast by now). They were definitely my gateway into harder metal, but they had this unbelievable talent of making what might seem to others like harder sounding guitar riffs (in their sound, not technicality) and make them appealing to a global mainstream audience. I have so many friends (including my wife) who love LP but won't listen to any other harder rock/metal. They were a once in a lifetime band in terms of their reach and what they did on a global level (brining metal, hip/hop, just normal popular audiences together) - and I thank you LP and Chester for everything you've done and brought to my life. You will be remembered above all others.

A big tip for anyone struggling with dealing with a trauma, such as losing your parent to a horrible disease: ask your doctor about EMDR, a therapy which forces your brain to deal with the most painful memories of that trauma. I struggled for over a decade with the memories of my father's death through cancer, like I couldn't even look at a photo of him or listen to a favorite song of ours anymore. The EMDR therapy helped so much with that. It was like somebody released me from a locked dark cellar. One thing that is very important about EMDR is that you have to be able to get a click with your therapist, like you trust them fully, or it won't work. Also make sure you talk to them every day after a session, even if it's just a 5 minute phonecall, cause it can be extremely intense and have adverse effects if you don't get checked on. Best of luck to my fellow strugglers.

Bro, your thoughts about your mom passing before you had kids and got married hit real close to home. My mother passed in 2011 when I was 18 due to a liver disease. Not a day goes by where I don't think about the fact that she never got the chance to meet my kids, or whether she'd be proud of the choices I've made or the person I've become. R.I.P. to Chester, still being able to put thoughts and feelings to words even from beyone the grave.. what a legend.

I really wish rap and rock would come together more. I love both, I love everything from Brother Ali (you know if you like your underground shit) to Slipknot. I love hearing when both genres come together. Theres just a magical chef kiss moment that happens when two different genres of music come together to make one.

I haven't read the comments or watched the whole video (paused to type here). The reason that this song was not released back in their "Hybrid Theory" album is that (as Mike Shinoda stated) it has the same energy as "Numb," so since they wanted to keep their album at 12 songs, they had to choose one of them and ended up choosing "Numb" (which is also FIRE)

Jeder, der einen Menschen verloren hat, mit Trauer und Depressionen kämpft, fühlt jedes einzelne Wort. Der Schmerz vergeht nie. man lernt, damit zu Leben. Oder hoffentlich lernt, damit zu leben. Yes all and most of their music can be taken relatable. Love your reaction even though you weren't a linkin park fan. It'd be super dope if you brought on Mike Shinoda. He was the guy that included rap on their music. He had his own solo work you might have known "fort minor" 👏

If I am correct, this track wasn’t release in Meteora album because it was too similar with the song Numb, which is the top track of that album. Also, the song has a similar message with Numb, which also excluded it from being released. At least, having this song released 20 years after the album gaves us all a jump back in the early 2000. ✌️

Linkin Park does _not_ shred lol. It’s cool tho. I’ll put it this way: shredders are to rock as choppers are to rap. I felt your words about your mom. My dad passed in August of 2020 and what you say is real. That song was fire. Chester was in my top 5 rock/metal vocalists I was sad af when he died.

It's tragic that the mislabeling of Linkin Park as "rock" caused so many hip hop heads to not be exposed to them, because hip hop is at the foundation of their sound. Even this track, people call it rock, but it's like 80% drum machine.

in 2010 the MTV euromusic awards took place in Madrid, Spain, and Linkin Park was one of the bands performing on one of the stages they set up in the city. I lived in Madrid but on weekends I used to go to see my girlfriend and my daughter, who lived in another city. Inside me, I knew that it was probably the only time I was going to see LP live and that my girlfriend I could always visit at any other time; but silly me I decided to go to see them instead of Linkin Park. 13 years later...I will never be able to see LP live because Chester left us and after 16 years of relationship and 3 kids...I am also no longer with my then-girlfriend and later wife. In conclusion, if you have a chance in life to do something, DO IT!!!!
