In my opinion, this is absolutely the best Grinch song ever, and a perfect vehicle for Matt's voice. I always grin stupidly through the whole thing! Since Matt sings lead, Scott is doing the bassline. If you want to hear Scott singing a solid bass solo, listen to their cover of "Sound of Silence." Great reaction

They have performed this live in their Christmas concerts. Ben Hausdorf, their tour photographer/videographer, has worn the Grinch costume for that. (He is also Kirstin's baby daddy and now her fiance.)

Matt is amazing; having so much fun with this song. Mitch’s gasp is a scene stealer.

if you watch bohemian rhapsody, imagine, say something, carol of the bells, and others they are all together. There are a few that they do the box feature like daft punk. Any ptx that you watch dated 2011-2017 you will have Avi, after 2017 then it will be Matt. I like Matt doing this song, his voice is perfect, and everyone else being so dramatic especially Mitch's yuck cracks me up. Kirstin's had that eye-piercing for awhile

Mitch songs: - Carol of the Bells (there's a live version from the BYUtv special, Christmas Under the Stars) (also known as When Does Mitch Breathe) - The Prayer (mainly Mitch and Scott) - Bohemian Rhapsody
@katm43353 жыл бұрын
If you want to hear Mitchy sing, you should react to "The Prayer" his high Counter Tenor voice shines through the whole song. And the whole song is amazing. He also does most of "Carold of the Bells", "Gold" which is live and he kills it. The Ariana Grande Melody and the Michael Jackson Melody both get a lot of Mitch play and "Can you feel the Love Tonight" all are amazing. But "The Prayer" is going to give you Mitch at his best, showing off exactly what that angel voice will do.

Oh and Anchor (original) - sadly no music video and where they are stepping into a different 'production' style. They are always trying new things and trying to innovate with what they can do.

You have to hand it to Scott in this one as he is taking over the bass for this entire song as Matt has the solo!

Scott does all the background bass line when Matt is soloing. just like he did for Avi, when Avi sang his solos, "Hallelujah". A lot of the box videos was necessary during eatly XOVID quaeantine.

Alot of the boxes were filmed during the pandemic...you want Mitch try Bohemian Rhapsody. Other great videos of theirs would be Sound of Silence...Amazing Grace....Can you feel the love tonight. Merry Christmas...Thanks and stay safe.

If you want a Mitch Grassi solo, there are many, but one I haven't noticed being suggested is one he did on his own. He did a solo cover of Billie Eilish's "Your Power". Oh my lord, it's so hauntingly beautiful.

Recommend their Rather Be, Come Along, and Amazing Grace. For an old Mitch solo, check out Royals. For a new Mitch solo, check out The Prayer. He also independently sang Your Power.

Speaking of PTX and boxes, you should check out their Daft Punk medley. It was their 1st Grammy. Budget of $400. Shot and recorded in the closet and kitchen of (I think it was) Avi and Kevin's apartment back in the day. 2nd Grammy was for Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. 3rd Grammy was for Jolene, a collab with Dolly Parton who wrote the song years ago. One request: maybe start a Pentatonix Playlist?! The Pentaholics will love you for it!

I just found your reactions recently... i looked through the videos you have do e and noticed you hadn't seen a few of my favorites (Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone; Can't Hold Us, Problem, Carol of the Bells) Aha video and especially the biggest booming live version of Aha live at the StarVista which is everyone's highlight of an audience member catching an especially amazing version of Aha... i cannot tell you more... but watch the actual official video before the live version for a complete contrast... it will mess you up... it is amazing...

A lot of Mitch's best solos actually don't have videos. You've got some good suggestions in The Prayer (Scott and Kirstin also solo, but Mitch has a good showcase) and Bohemian Rhapsody (the others have some lines but the bulk is Mitch led), but I'm going to add their cover of Kiiara's Gold. It was a live video and it's entirely Mitch's lead and he killllls it. If you're at all interested, I made a list of all the PTX songs I've found and made it public. I mention it because I also marked who has solos in each song. Since KZbin tends to block outside links, I made a throwaway "video" and linked the Google Sheet in the description: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3LGiKp8ls2Im6c

I second the Gold reaction, I will add to please watch at least a little of the original if you are not familiar with it - or you may miss the absolute magic that Mitch does in this song! Also their cover of Come Along, such an upbeat song!

for solos . . . check out Amazing Grace. Mitch belts out his solo in a slightly lower range.

Voiceplay does a fanatastic "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch." Your mouthing the words with a big smile behind the video is so cute! I think the boxes are from pandemic separation; you'll see Home Free do the same during 2020-2021.

If you're looking for a Mitch song then I recommend Gold. Carol of the Bells is a little out of season, I'd say, but depends how you feel about Xmas music lol. He also has some solo things too. They don't really have that many "box" videos, I think you've just been unlucky with your picks lol. They had them early on when they didn't have much money to work with and then during the quarantine months.

You should watch the Jim Carrey Grinch movie. It's great. You feeling bad for him makes you Cindy Lou Who. 😂

I'm subscribing in hopes of more PTX. One warning I'm not sure you've had a problem yet, but their label is really aggressive about blocking their videos. From other reactors, the block is triggered by the video, not the audio, so most have found a way to alter the video and avoid the block -- reducing the size, changing the shape, blurring, reducing the transparency, overlaying with a graphic, etc. There are also videos like their "Evolution of... " medleys that aren't usually blocked. BTW, you are playing with fire when you start comparing the a capella groups; you may think they are such nice people but you do NOT want to get the Pentaholics and the Home Fries going at it.
@RobRobbie3 жыл бұрын
I love all the groups I've heard so far and I think it's amazing that there is so much variety between them. The focus of my videos is more so a celebration of the song and how different artists interpret it. Thank you so much for subscribing! There will definitely by more PTX in the future. :)

I have to say, VoicePlay's version of this song makes me feel sorry for Grinch, cause they are plain nasty to him
@kelaEQ22 жыл бұрын
Don't feel too sorry for The Grinch, this song is sung during the Montages of The Grinch first creating the fake Santa costume he uses to lie to a child about why he is taking her family's Christmas Tree, and during the stealing montages themselves where he literally steals everything he can get his hands on.

a great mostly featuring Mitch Christmas song is this years PTX release of "The Prayer" here is the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ_Zq6p3hdahn7c and for gods sake you've got to start reacting to some of there evolution videos like Michael Jackson, Rehana or Beyonce mashup's. These videos are not recorded separately in the studio but done all together live studio one take no edits. trust me its worth it my friend.

Yes! The evolution videos are amazing, and I would add their cover of Gold but watch a bit of the original first) and Megan Trainors No in that list as well - these are also shot in one take.

and here is a live performance in front of a studio audience of Hallelujah by L. Cohen kzbin.info/www/bejne/npKpeaWcost7mMU tell me how much of a difference you notice from the music video. It's not much different from the studio recording, at least not that i can see. If anything i think the live performance is better in some ways.
