Dudes, this was the song that got 15 year old me into Anthrax way back in 1988. I also loved old school hip hop at the time and in a live version of this back on the tour for this album, Scott Ian (rhythm guitarist) was wearing a Public Enemy t-shirt and a few years later they re-made "Bring The Noise" and toured together in the early 90s. This was heaven to me as I'd loved metal and hip hop for a fair few years by that point and it felt amazing for those two genres to finally recognise and accept that we all need to stand together and fight the power!

4th of July, 1986, three friends and I go to Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ to see a day and night set by Night Ranger. We meet two friebds of the people I was with. One had Anthrax painted on his jean jacket. I had never heard of the band before. Later were looking gur a phone so I xan call to see if my dad can drive them home as well. Three guys come uo behind us, "Yo, you guys lije Anthrax?" "Yeah." "They're on the phone." We needed the phone anyway, so we followed them. Drummer Charlie Benante is on the phone and Scott Ian (rhythm guitar) is standing there. We talked to Scott until Charlie hung up. I called home while the kid with Anthrax on his jacket keot talking with them. We later ran into singer Joey Belladonna. We ended up sitting with them for the first set. We didn't talk to then lea guitarist Dan Spitz because, at 5'1", he was shorter than the 14 year old kid, so we thought he was just a fan. LOL. Scott Ian is one of the coolest people I've ever met. I immediately bought their then current album, Spreading the Disease. It is still my favorite. They were one of the first metal bands to incorporate rap music. They used to wear Public Enemy shirts on stage. Chuck D was told about this. He had no idea who they were but respected the love and wrote the line, "Wax is for Anthrax" into Bring the Noisefrom It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (1988). In 1991, Anthrax did a reverse of Run-DMC/Aerosmith and did a netal cover of Bring the Noise, featuring Chuck D and Flavor Flav. They then toured together, which Chuck D claims changed rap shows for ever. Public Enemy were an emaborate rap group having two NCs and a DJ, plus a three man step show. But the stage was just them a d a couple of spot lights. The Anthrax crew taught the PE crew everything they knew about stage lighting and sound. The PE crew then spread that to as many rap tour crews as they could. Suddenly rap artists has light shows, with lasers, pyro, etc. I've heard Chuck D talk trash, but never once about Anthrax. By the way, the video is awful, so check the studio track first, but in 1987, Anthrax released the I'm the Man EP which had six songs. Censored, uncensored and a live version of the rap metal title track, a cover of Black Sabbath's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and two other live versions of songs from Among the Living.

Just to add to what I commented earlier. Others may have mentioned already but this song was based on Stephen King's classic novel "The Stand". Both Scott and Charlie especially from the band were huge fans of comics, old school horror films and novels. Also from this same album was song about comic book legend Judge Dredd (I Am The Law) as well as a song that dealt with the native American Indian heritage of singer Joey Belladonna in "Indians". This album, even at 50 years old is still one of my faves when it comes to old school thrash metal.

Joe belladonna's voice really stood Out Among the early thrash vocalist in that he had a really paid attention to the fundamentals of how to really sing. He loved vocal heavy bands like journey and Foreigner and apparently didn't know squat about thrash metal or the whole scene in general when he auditioned for the band but he adapted very quickly and brought strong Melody intoANTHRAX Styl=eof thrash metal

This album is an absolute classic. I was 15-16 when it came out, and had been trying to teach myself to play guitar for just 5-6 months at that point. My goal immediately became learning to play that album. Scott Ian made me love playing rhythm via learning his rhythm parts on that album. Before I reached the point of playing for a year I had that album down. James Hetfield gets a lot of praise for being an amazing rhythm player and fastest downpicker, but Scott Ian’s downpicking technique is even faster. This album is a picking hand workout. So much fun to play.

Anthrax has had a number of people come and go through the ranks but as far as who's stayed around more than others? Singer Joey Belladonna then John Bush for a few years and then in 2010 Belladonna came back, the one remaining founding member guitarist Scott Ian, guitarist Dan Spitz whose place is currently being held by Jonathan Donais, bassist Frank Bello and drummer Charlie Benante Also gotta get to Madhouse, Metal Thrashing Mad, and one of my favorites of the John Bush era, Safe Home

To me it's talking about evil politicians who seek to control. He's against it. That's why he's the walking dude.

Doesn't look like anyone mentioned it, so I will. You absolutely must listwn to the song "Bring the Noise" which is Anthrax and Public Enemy. Also another great and entertaining song by Anthrax is "I'm the Man"....I recently learned Anthrax was suppose to have the Beastie Boys on that song but ended up recording it without them and the song is fucking awesome and hilarious!!!

Did you ever actually say what you thought of the song? You went down the lyric rabbit hole and never came back unless I missed something. Lol
