Most of the time the singles are the ones that show what a band has to offer, and from what Ive heard, most of CoBs are painfully banal, as well as corny. @@davidcolon2735 it is true that everyone can be entitled to their opinion, but if they decide to share it, they better be ready for others to question it. For example, if you want to talk Actual talent (people throw that word around too much, when in reality most people who are great at something have worked really hard for that), then imo Jeff Buckley was one of the most gifted singers/guitarists/song-writers, and his death was the biggest tragedy in music in the 90s. He only released one album, yet it is basically a perfect showcase of how natural music was for him, and whats even more impressive was what he could do live with his voice - not to mention that he usually played guitar along with it. If you havent heard of him, sadly he is Most remembered due to his cover of Hallelujah, but believe me - despite how great it is, it was the least the guy could actually pull off, and here is an example of that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oobIdoGEgLGoiaM

The forest theme for these types of bands are usually due to just the fact that most of these bands are from one of the Scandinavian countries which are mostly forested. CoB is Finnish if I recall (without looking it up to verify). Regarding the genre here, CoB is considered Melodic Blackened Death Metal.

The first growling death metal style should probably be attributed to the band DEATH whose first album came out in 1985. The late great Chuck Schuldiner was the pioneer of Death Metal. The keyborder is 18 days younger than lead gitarist/vocalist, but he is from jazz first)))) Drummer is 4 months younger than lead guitarist/vocalist)) Bassist is 10 months younger than their drummer)))) Only the rythm guitarist (that times) is 5 years older than others)) this is 2000 year, they are 1979 year of birth (1980 and 1974 too). So they are mostly 21 years old then. About that cord around the neck: Alexi had passed through some real shit, he knows how to die... But now he stopped to do that - after 30, I guess, he calmed down about suicide tendencies. Now the band is not COB anymore 😭 But guys do music in other bands, and the most f*cking active is Alexi, I'm happy for him, he was the main composer and writer for "Children Of Bodom", took part in many other different projects and is not going to sit still! Horns up an go! He made another band, "Bodom After Midnight", they play COB songs and prepare new material. @Thras Talkers **THE ANSWER*** These guys comes from Finland. The scandinavian (norway, sweden, finland etc) have these very deep metal roots within themselves. When you Take a look at Amon Amarth which is the PRIME EXEMPLE of swedish viking metal. About the growling, nonobdy knows for sure who invented it, but metal, at base, is a form a hardcore blues, And blues comes from your inner self and feelings. Metal is mostly powered by rage so, yoou get why the screaming. People with very bright sided minds and inner selves will tend to go for the more bluesy styles and those with darker sides, darker minds wouid chose the metal brand. in between sits all the others who are shades of the 2 originals (blues and metal) when you think of rock, Hard-rock, country, grunge and many more.

Them and Borknagar are the bands that got me into harsh vocals. This album is a masterpiece! Do Downfall or Hate Me next! Or possibly their cover of Oops I Did it Again?

So I had a quick glance at their repertoire and I can't change my mind. For example the song "Under Grass And Clover ",great arrangement, dynamic, melodic sound, but everytime you think the voice will break through,it never manages to get to the top of the sound. Sometimes, the singing shouldn't always be the underlining of the instruments, but deserves some domination too.
