@@davidcolon2735 Would you care to provide any proof? Most of the time the singles are the ones that show what a band has to offer, and from what Ive heard, most of CoBs are painfully banal, as well as corny. Then again, this whole subgenre imo is quite unpalatable. Dont get me wrong - Im not trying to be some troll and kick a person down, and condolences where they are due, but your statement is incorrect imo, at least when it comes to song writing. I agree the guy Definitely was a kick ass guitar player, but I dont think he did as much as he could musically, at least when compared to some other metal guitarists.

@@davidcolon2735 it is true that everyone can be entitled to their opinion, but if they decide to share it, they better be ready for others to question it. For example, if you want to talk Actual talent (people throw that word around too much, when in reality most people who are great at something have worked really hard for that), then imo Jeff Buckley was one of the most gifted singers/guitarists/song-writers, and his death was the biggest tragedy in music in the 90s. He only released one album, yet it is basically a perfect showcase of how natural music was for him, and whats even more impressive was what he could do live with his voice - not to mention that he usually played guitar along with it. If you havent heard of him, sadly he is Most remembered due to his cover of Hallelujah, but believe me - despite how great it is, it was the least the guy could actually pull off, and here is an example of that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oobIdoGEgLGoiaM

The forest theme for these types of bands are usually due to just the fact that most of these bands are from one of the Scandinavian countries which are mostly forested. CoB is Finnish if I recall (without looking it up to verify). Regarding the genre here, CoB is considered Melodic Blackened Death Metal.

The first growling death metal style should probably be attributed to the band DEATH whose first album came out in 1985. The late great Chuck Schuldiner was the pioneer of Death Metal. Unfortunately he passed away on 2001. Thus killing the band's future. You lose your front-man and founder, there's not much else you can do.

The pioneer of death metal and harsh vocals was considered to be the band Death hence the name "Death Metal ". Then an army of bands continued the sub-genre. Bands like Cannibal Corpse, Possessed, Deicide, Obituary. Children of Bodom incorporated many different styles to their sound. Their style was generally known as blackened melodic death metal. Great tracks to react to include: in your face and are you dead yet.

OMG, one of my favourite songs of all times!!! Wow!!!!!! Thanks!!! :) \m/ Love Children Of Bodom!!! The keyborder is 18 days younger than lead gitarist/vocalist, but he is from jazz first)))) Drummer is 4 months younger than lead guitarist/vocalist)) Bassist is 10 months younger than their drummer)))) Only the rythm guitarist (that times) is 5 years older than others)) this is 2000 year, they are 1979 year of birth (1980 and 1974 too). So they are mostly 21 years old then. About that cord around the neck: Alexi had passed through some real shit, he knows how to die... But now he stopped to do that - after 30, I guess, he calmed down about suicide tendencies. Now the band is not COB anymore 😭 But guys do music in other bands, and the most f*cking active is Alexi, I'm happy for him, he was the main composer and writer for "Children Of Bodom", took part in many other different projects and is not going to sit still! Horns up an go! He made another band, "Bodom After Midnight", they play COB songs and prepare new material. I'm waiting for their releases)))))) But "Children Of Bodom" will be forever in my heart, and "Every Time I Die" - one of my favourite songs of all times! Thanks again for this review, guys! :)

I suggest the video for The Blossoming Beelzebub if you want to be disturbed to your very core, or maybe the song Rinkaku as a first taster of their unique sound. You are correct, go-go music is a D.C. thing. Basically funk music with some other elements thrown in. Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers and Trouble Funk are 2 well known artists from that genre. Dave Grohl did a Sonic Highways episode (which you should watch... the whole series I mean!) on D.C. music, including the go-go scene, and interviewed some go-go artists for the episode. Poison is pretty much always categorized as hair metal, I believe. Forget The Godfather and Scarface... Dog Day Afternoon and Serpico are Al Pacino’s greatest films 😊

Guys, you need to react to Steven Wilson - Home Invasion/Regert#9 (studio version). Its has just THE best guitar and keyboard solos of all time and all around masterpiece of a song (actually its in a masterpiece of an album beggining to end)

@@infernalsymphonytv2928 if we can even get the trash talkers into Vektor the battle is won. If they fall in love they will play more. Id love them to listen to the whole album first but i know how overwelming that can be. Recharging is the best song i think, so I want everyone to hear this hopefully get into the band than listen to it the right way.

Music videos in the forest are a recurring theme in heavy metal bands from Europe, Folk metal, etc, Children of Bodom is from Finland, a place known for it's deep. old growth forests. Sort of like Rappers in their music videos in clubs, or what can be assumed to be the streets of their hometown, it's similar here, the forests are their, "hood" so to speak.

@Thras Talkers **THE ANSWER*** These guys comes from Finland. The scandinavian (norway, sweden, finland etc) have these very deep metal roots within themselves. When you Take a look at Amon Amarth which is the PRIME EXEMPLE of swedish viking metal. About the growling, nonobdy knows for sure who invented it, but metal, at base, is a form a hardcore blues, And blues comes from your inner self and feelings. Metal is mostly powered by rage so, yoou get why the screaming. People with very bright sided minds and inner selves will tend to go for the more bluesy styles and those with darker sides, darker minds wouid chose the metal brand. in between sits all the others who are shades of the 2 originals (blues and metal) when you think of rock, Hard-rock, country, grunge and many more.

Them and Borknagar are the bands that got me into harsh vocals. This album is a masterpiece! Do Downfall or Hate Me next! Or possibly their cover of Oops I Did it Again?

So I had a quick glance at their repertoire and I can't change my mind. For example the song "Under Grass And Clover ",great arrangement, dynamic, melodic sound, but everytime you think the voice will break through,it never manages to get to the top of the sound. Sometimes, the singing shouldn't always be the underlining of the instruments, but deserves some domination too.
