Mike know her since 2019 and introduced her to rest of the band some time after. They had 5 years to get to know her so I belive they knew much better who she is or was than we are. And offered her this position about year ago, so 4 years of getting to know her before they decided she deserves this position.

The live show was the most important thing, and whilst it wasn’t ‘perfect’ (whatever that is) she had the right energy, sound and look. Once the confidence and chemistry grows it could be something very special. There is no replacement for Chester, as Mike said on the live, the crowd will play the role of Chester, Emily is there for the next chapter and personally, I love it.

You make a great point. The nerves she must of had during it had to be high. Also I have seen LP 32 times with Chester and there were 5 times that I saw him have off nights vocally. Voices Crack, singers get sick, or just tired. Ever performance we see online were good shows but the 100s of shows they did not all were perfection

@@Inseril so cool you got to see them so often! and as you say having a perfect show vocally is an insanely difficult job, and no matter how many times she’d have rehearsed those songs nothing was going to match the intensity of that first time doing it in front of true fans. Not only will her stage presence grow from time with the band, but she also needs time with us fans. She really found herself by the end of the show, and will only continue to get better with every song and show.

Mike won't tell anyone what he was thinking when he wrote it, but the one thing we do know it that's *not* what it's about 😂 Zane Lowe said he also thought that, and Mike's response was, "That wasn't what I was thinking when I wrote it, but it's interesting to hear your interpretation."

They all are so happy together, there is connection and that is the only reason it works! That is a very good thing, i missed the band and i am ready for new stuff. Fellas I’m going to advise you…. Go to LP KZbin and watch the interview with Zane Lowe 1HR. Gives insight to how this all came around and much much more EMILY ARMSTRONG, is a great singer with the rasp, the tone, the grit and delivery that’s needed. She’s such a huge Chester fan, hearing Hybrid Theory made her want to sing and scream, she used to only play guitar before then. Then she comes out to play old songs for the first time on stream, first time ever with LP, yea she had nerves, her voice broke, she broke down in tears, but you know what she did INSANE for the occasion. She will find her place, her comfort and I think she will do justice to Chester 🌹 THE NEW SONG IS SICK!! I’m 100% behind Emily and that’s coming from a OG LPU fanatic Chester would be proud and dig her style, I can guarantee that too

It's honestly really nice to hear Linkin Park again--Chester is truly irreplaceable, but his songs will live on forever, if the band wants to make music and live up to that legacy and march onwards, I think thats great. From some interviews I've seen sofar, Emily has performed in a band called Dead Sara, and prior to her joining LP proper the group were just making music among themselves, with guest singers, and after recording with Emily it just felt like Linkin Park, which is why they went forward reuniting rather than making a new group. And after this song, it does feel like Linkin Park I can't disagree. I'm holding back full judgement until we have more new music and more time with them, but... It did make me very happy to see the band that I grew up with evolve yet again.

"i always wanted to be part something" refers to lp and emily. For lp it was when they founded the band they wanted to be part of something (famous band, making fans happy with musik). same for emily when she wasnt famous. The line also refers to the emptiness after chester died, so they thought "they want to be part something" again (making music for their fans)

Could she be in LP - and then... she became that.

So many reviewers ignore/forget the last band of the whole Elementree/KoRn family in 'Orgy'. And it was Orgy's two main creative members, Ryan and Amir, who broke off to do their 'Julien-K' band which was involved with Chester's last songs from his own spin-off band, 'Dead by Sunrise'. You should absolutely listen to what Chester was doing right before his death, and really hear how much he had grown since his beginnings with Linkin Park. I will say this, when Minutes to Midnight came out back in 2007, a lot of us were mad because they went in a different direction in music. it took a long time to love that album. Then when the One More Light album came out, a lot of us hated it because they went to pop. No singer will ever replace Chester. It will take us a while to get use to Emily Armstrong.

It's hard to express with words how significant it is for this group of musicians to go back to making music and loving it. Song's still fresh, no idea what they're message is officially, but I felt it being a message to the generations who got jobs/"careers" that would make them seem like respectable members of the community, ie parents wanted them to go to college school, get a higher education because that's what you were suppose to do. You joined an Emptiness Machine just because you should, even cut yourself open to remove parts of yourself that wouldn't fit like a cog in the Machine. Not because you wanted to but because you just wanted to be part of something, belong, fit in to the status quo where you had money while being unhappy.

Makes me sad. Chester's ex wife has been very supportive. But his son has been attacking Mike nonstop on social media the last few weeks. He's obviously had a very tough run as a child. So, on one hand, I don't blame him. But it makes me sad that he doesn't seem to understand that this is continuing his dads legacy.
