Per Wikipedia "Nazareth formed in December 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland. The remaining members of the Shadettes, a semi-professional local group formed in 1961, including vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet started Nazareth.[6] They derived inspiration from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.[7] Nazareth took their name from Nazareth, Pennsylvania which was named for Nazareth (the Biblical town in Israel). Nazareth, Pennsylvania is cited in the first line of the Band's classic song "The Weight" ("I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' about half past dead...")." As a man who spent the entirety of my teen years in the 70's (born in 60) I can tell you why we looked old. It's because we partied hard, I mean we partied HARD! Facts.....

RIP Dan McCafferty…his voice was so beautifully gritty…that rasp of his was something else. This song has so many heartbreaking lyrics…my favorite is, “some fools think of happiness, blissfullness, togetherness…some fools fool themselves I guess…they’re not fooling me…I know it isn’t true, I know it isn’t true…LOVE IS JUST A LIE…made to make u blue…love hurts…” & that guitar solo by Manny Charlton sounds like a broken hearted person wailing 🤘🏽💔🤘🏽

You guys just don't know how epic this record was. This and the song "Hair of the Dog" was inescapable in the 70s. I had the album (I was 10) and when CDs came along, this was one of the Essential Dozen everybody bought at once. (Dark Side of the Moon, A Night at the Opera, etc.) This album is still in heavy rotation at our house. Every song is a hit-this album will live forever. RIP DMcCafferty.

Back before music videos bands appeared on these TV shows to get recognition. I believe this one was Top of the Pops. The audience was made up of random kids that were available and not always there for the particular band of the day. You can see many of these kinds of crowds in many videos from seventies bands.

This was one of their ballads, and their best one, but they are a rockin' band from Scotland. Their greatest hits album from the 1970s is amazing. This Flight Tonite is their most played song on the radio. Other great songs by this so underrated band are Hair of the Dog, Woke Up This Morning, Turn On Your Receiver (my favourite), Shanghai'd in Shanghai, Broken Down Angel, Bad, Bad Boy, Razamanaz, My White Bicycle and Holy Roller. Danny McCafferty was such an underrated rock vocalist and Manny Charlton a criminally unknown lead guitarist. P.S. The reason for crowds to be quiet in some of the 1970 concert/program videos is possibly because the show/music was being recorded and the producers didn't want excessive or any extraneous noise.
