i adore Gwen with No Doubt! Just a girl, Sunday morning and Spiderwebs are a must listen. FYI, I believe this song was written when Gwen and Tony, the bass player for No Doubt, broke up. They were an item for a couple of years before her marriage to Gavin Rossdale, but stayed good friends after the brake up and continued to make music together.

So glad you did this song as a 39-year-old man I remember when I was about 13 and I had most extreme crush on Gwen Stefani I remember this music video on MTV and just be honest without being gross I did what most 13 year old boys at the time did when they saw Gwen Stefani LOL. I love this track you guys should check out the track that they did with sublime it's called either red or saw red I don't remember it's off the 40 oz of freedom of my belief. Great live version, Gwen Stefani rock's it on stage. Gwen's sophomore album is full of Rap and Hiphop collaborations. Try "Luxurious" featuring Slim Thug, "Rich Girl" or "Let Me Blow Your Mind" with Eve or "Sweet Escape" with Akon. She's a musical camleon.

🦋I Love All Of Gwen Stefani's Music. Right Up There With Alanis Morissette, This Song & Spiderwebs were the first 2 Songs I Memorized The Lyrics For Back In My High School Choir Days. Great Reaction Guys! It's Also Strange That I Had Been Listening To Their Music Recently. And Here We are, What A Surprise. 😏 Gwen Stefani wrote “Don’t Speak” with brother and bandmate Eric Stefani. The song details Gwen’s break-up with bandmate Tony Kanal. The two met in high school and dated for seven years. In an interview with Rolling Stone Stefani said that her breakup with Tony inspired many of the songs on Tragic Kingdom: ''I was like, ‘F*ck, I can’t keep writing about the same thing. But I gotta' write about what’s in my head, and that’s the only thing on mind'' -Gwen I feel much the same these days. When Nothing Else Is On Your Mind, Your Written Words May Be The Only Comfort, Even If It Hurts. As we die, both you and I With my head in my hands, I sit and cry… So Don't speak, Isn't It Ironic...Yeah A Little To Ironic, I Really Do Think ... I Recommend a Reaction To Alanis Morissette's - ''All I Really Want'' - Alanis & Gwen's Songs Are A Staple In My Youthful Memories. Their Music & Many Others gave me inspiration to keep the faith & stay Alive Through All The Pain.

The difference between No Doubt and Gwen's solo stuff is night and day. When No Doubt made it big in the mid 90s they were considered more alternative rock. Had more of a new wave/ska influence more than anything. By the time they went into the 2000's they were adding more pop elements. When Gwen went solo she went with more pop and added touches of hip hop( Hollaback Girl is a great example). I think she should have stayed closer to her No Doubt sound more.

Hey guys, great reaction! The person Gwen is singing about in this song is the Bass Player. They had a romantic relationship going and kept it from the rest of the band and then HE BROKE UP WITH HER! What a moron! Out of that pain she wrote alot of the songs on the Tragic Kingdom album. Her brother was one of the original members, but he quit in 1994 to do animation on The Simpsons. Also in 1994 the Bass Player broke off his 7 year relationship with Gwen. In 1995 they released Tragic Kingdom.

Funny story back in the 90's my friend knew a guy in college who knew the band. He got us tickets to see them. It was No Doubt and Bush. I so wanted to meet Gwen and we had backstage passes. After the show we went backstage and met the bands. Well all but Gwen and Gavin. They had locked themselves in a room together. It was like 3 days after they started going out! Damnit, I didn't get to meet either of them lol!

Alternative came before Grunge. Janes Addiction, Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins underground success led to record companies seeking out similar bands which got the Seattle bands signed to bigger contracts and on the radio. All of them owe their success to Janes Addiction. They opened the door and then blowing it open by starting the Lollapalooza tour.

This band launched Gwen Stefani's solo career. An LA punk/Ska band that really played Mexican Ska. For those not familiar, ska is a combination of punk and reggae. Originally written as a love song, Gwen rewrote it as a breakup song for her separation from her bass player. A lot of punk bands mixed ska in their repertoire.

No Doubt was a ska band in like 1993. No song that anyone has ever heard by No Doubt is in ska at all. The ska song that you know is "The Impression That I Get" by MIghty MIghty Bosstones. ("Never had to knock on wood. But I swear I haven't yet, it makes me wonder if I could.") But I know someone who has. It makes me wonder if I could, it makes me wonder if I should. The genre as defined in 90s/2000s requires trumpets, suit-wearing bands, random costumes such as duck costumes in the audience or video extras, and lyrics that don't make any sense. There are also two other types of ska, both of which sound absolutely nothing whatsoever like the most recent ska. They are almost literally not related. Related bands could also include Weezer and there was one more that the ska people said is like "related". Every other 90s/2000s ska band that exists is something no one's ever heard of.

No Doubt was my intro into "rock" other than older rock (70s, etc). Before No Doubt's 'Tragic Kingdom' (came out in '95, and I was 10), the only music I listened to was what my parents/grandparents listened to which was classic rock and country. No Doubt had a HUGE impact on me growing up. I LOVED them so much. That entire album, 'Tragic Kingdom', to me, is a masterpiece. Y'all should honestly do a reaction to every song on that album. Same with the Kittie album 'Spit' as that album had a huge impact on me as well when it came out (came out in '00, and I was 15), and just like 'Tragic Kingdom', the entire 'Spit' album is a masterpiece.

Some say this song was written knowing the band was going to split and Tragic Kingdom was to be their last album together

So I laughed in the beginning because you were listening to Gwen Stefani no doubt but I realize this is a really good song and I used to listen to his back in the day so I'm not hating at all really good songs so yeah

You should check out they earlier ska stuff. Excuse Me Mister, Happy Now, Let's Get BAck, Move ON, Oi to the World, Trapped in a Box. It will give you more of an idea of how they sounded when they first started. Don't Speak is from their 3rd album.

There was only ONE Gwen Stefani, and no one will ever match her. She was insane live, the way she would run and jump around onstage and never get winded, never get out of breath, never change her breathing and stay on key and in tune the entire time. One reason for that was that she took her craft seriously. Something she used to do was sing while running on the treadmill to build up her cardio and stamina. There will never be another Gwen, or No Doubt.

Remember well being a kid and every fellow male had a crush on either Gwen or Christina. For me, it was Shirley Manson of Garbage. Maybe need a Garbage reaction?
