What a pleasant surprise on a Sunday afternoon, this is an old school Slayer song from their Haunting In The Chapel Ep. Next time, I'd love for you guys to check out "213 or "Bitter Peace", "213" is about Jeffrey Dahmer written from the perspective of Jeffrey Dahmer himself. It's probably Slayer's darkest and most twisted song, and the instrumentals are phenomenal!

Hey homies, The singer Tom Araya got 2 bones in his neck fused together from headbanging. Last 2 tours he wasn't allowed to headbang at all. They say you can headbang straight back and forth but, the side-to-side motion is doing major damage. As a Death metal singer/bassist I can tell you the shoulder pain you develop seriously sucks. I used to get headaches but, you just get past them over time and don't get them anymore. Good reaction Guys!
@FreeMTrider2 жыл бұрын
Yep.....herniated disc. I remember an interview he told about it. I have the 3/4 vertebrae neck fusion...but it's all good. No problems at all. Although mine happened from training racing BMX.

You can never go wrong with slayer. They were the in your face brutal thrash. That's why they had the most dedicated fans out of the big 4. You know why slayers name is all straight lines? It's easier to carve into skin. Saw that on a meme a long time ago. My side effects from headbanging is a painful neck. I don't headbang anymore because I don't want to deal with the pain anymore. Take it from someone who's seen over 100 bands live. I will never beat my oldest brother with the show count because he went to college just outside Boston in 91 on. He would chill with Rob Zombie before he was signed and even has the original drummers signature to white zombie. His favorite Boston band he would see was Honkeyball. Kemosabi is an awesome song from them. They never made it though. They wanted more than what the record label was offering as a sign on bonus and never got another offer.

I get chronic neck pains now and again and migraines where I just have to lie down in a dark room with painkillers for a couple of hours. Not been diagnosed with any neurological disorder. I’m 100% confident it’s from 20+ years of whirlwind headbanging
@realhatchethead2 жыл бұрын
damn, it probably is. The whirlwind and the side to side are definitely the motions that get ya. Same reason Tom Araya got bones in his neck fused together.
@FreeMTrider2 жыл бұрын
Get an MRI to check for a herniated disc. I had one too and had it removed and fused. No more neck pain. No more migraines and I'm back doing what I want. That was 20 years ago. Life is so much better.

I caught Slayerlive twice in my 50 years on this planet. Once in 2000 during the Tattoo the Earth festival and most recent during their farewell tour. They always kill it. And when it comes to the head banging, you get used to it the more you do it. When you see any metal band live you kinda have no choice tossing the head about. After all these years I still do it.
@Patryn712 жыл бұрын
I've only seen them once in about that same amount of time, but it is still the best concert I was ever at. 1988 on Halloween night, on their South of Heaven tour. Overkill opened, Motorhead supported. They did Angel of Death as their 2nd encore and the place went absolutely apeshit. Had the opportunity to meet Tom, Kerry, and Jeff and have them sign the tour book. Sadly I never got to meet Dave. It was a long time ago now, but I still feel privileged to have been able to see the original lineup live, and to have seen Motorhead live. 2 of my favorite bands ever.

In around 1993 or 1994 I was in high school listening to Iron Maiden, Poison, G'n'R, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, ACDC. I'd just bought Metallicas Black album. Someone stuck an earphone on my ear and i was hit with this sublime noise: Slayer. On my way home i went straight to the record store. I had enough cash in my pocket for the 4 track Chemical Warfare ep. Slapped it straight in the discman and my life was never the same again

Kerry King (the bald guitarist) played on a few early Beastie Boys songs if I’m not mistaken, like Fight for your Right. Maybe No Sleep till Brooklyn too. If memory serves me.
The fact that you had to ask "why chemical warfare" shows how little you know.

I got to see them play this on their final tour. Still just as brutal live 20 years later. Also on the injury front, Tom Araya (lead singer and bassist) hasn’t headbanged in years because he sustained such bad neck damage from it. He’s not the only one either, he still headbangs but Dave Mustaine is another example

Is this Lombardo or Bostaph on the drums? Just by ear, this sounds like Lombardo playing. On a side note, Thrash is my favorite genre because it's just raw aggression put into music. Thrash comes in many forms and there are several subgenres of Thrash, there are soo many gems in Thrash Metal that it's unbelievable. That's why most of the bands I request are Thrash bands, there are some really talented underground Modern Thrash bands that need a boost in order to make it big and that's why I request these bands. Have a great day everyone! 🤘🤘🤙🤙

Bostaph!
@davidfyffe59702 жыл бұрын
I believe it's Bostaph - his notes are typically cleaner, with more separation than Dave. No offense to Dave - he's a f-ing beast! If this was 1995, then Bostaph was the drummer then.

This was Bostaph, during the Divine Intervention tour. Lombardo was already in or getting together with the group Grip Inc.

to put this in 1995 context, Anthrax and Megadeth were somewhat forgotten about by 95, their best albums by that time, were already passed, and Metallica went from Master Of Puppets in 86 - to cutting their hair and wearing makeup in 95. Slayer was the only band of the big 4 keeping it real thrashy, ...that is until their next release was Diabolus In Musica (puke emoji here) in 96-97. then they reclaimed it back after that album with God Hates Us All.
