King ...SHE was HIM 😭 the sculpture was him!!! KIM TAEHYUNG'S MUSIC isn't just simply music, it's a whole fxcking novel! crying with tears in his eyes is art and he did it effortlessly!! The same mark on taehyung , woman & the sculpture showcasing how he conjured up everything ,The dark persona reminiscent of this fact And what stood out to me most was how perfectly Taehyung emoted the moment of realisation . Just brilliant !! the moment when realization hits taehyung. none of it was real. a fantasy inside a fantasy, dreamt up by a solitary artist who confronts himself at the end. and as he cries, he also smiles. because even if false, his dreams were still so very beautiful. and he was so happy. the version in front of him bleeds from a cracked head and we see glimpses of cracked sculpture heads in his workshop. this too is him then. both are him. none more real than the other. the cynic and the romantic. the darkness and the light.

Yes, it was shot in France (my country). The theater is Le théâtre de Montansier in Versailles and the big mansion is actually the Château de Saudreville a few miles from Paris. And of course boys, there are 2 voices all along the verses and singing together in the chorus : re-listen carefully, V has a much more "whispering" and breathy voice than Park Hyo Shin. 🙂

The MV is based on Pygmalion myth. Pygmalion was a King of Cyprus and he was also a very talented sculptor who hated people (he especially hated women and their "flaws") and would rather keep to himself and be alone. He sculpted a perfect woman in ivory, she was everything he desired, it was almost impossible to tell her apart from a real person and he very quickly fell in love with her. He'd kiss her and bring her gifts and flowers wishing she was alive. When Aphodite's festival came, he made offerings and wished for a bride that'd be the living reflection of his ivory queen, too ashamed to admit his desire for the sculpture herself. Aphorite granted his wish and when he came home and kissed the sculpture, he could feel her lips being warm for the first time. Her name was Galatea and they got married. In the MV you can see that V (Pygmalion) was also trying to sculpt himself, but he couldn't stand looking at it and damaged the sculpture's face by digging his fingers in it. My theory is that the second Taehyung at the end was the damaged sculpture that came to life, but at some point you can see that the lady disappeared indicating that she didn't really come to life and it was all in his imagination, his desire for it to be real

V the sculptor created an image of himself, V the statue or the sculpture. V sculptor must be projecting his own desires to be with someone in his V statue. Or he could be a loner, seeking to live/happiness but doesn’t know how. This desire breathed life to his creation. Thus, when the V statue came to life, he also desired to be with someone and created a female statue and breathed life to her. The V sculpture lived the life, ie, going around, feeling the wind, being awed by other lives (like the butterfly), dancing, partying, celebrating, loving a girl. But that will end as he faced his creator later and realized he was not real, thus the heartbreaking sadness and acceptance in V’s eyes in the last scene. This is when you see the girl disappearing and even his face in the mirror partly turning into stone. The sculptor V is bloodied. This may represent his own brokenness, or relate to the scene where he was angry and frustrated and took such anger on his scuplture of V thus scraping that part of his face under his eye, and breaking him. It can also be theorized that when sculptor V broke the V statue, this instead gave life to the statue while the sculptor sustained the brokenness or injuries, sort of opposite effect. Or these could all just be a part of the sculptor’s dreams. Teaser 1 represents the darkness in his life. Teaser 2 is his daydream of a happier life, although it will end like any other dream, and he will go back to reality. There is both biblical and mythological elements in the storyline. This is what I think at least. Right or wrong, the MV is brilliant. It evokes many thoughts even after watching the MV, and has real depth. V’s acting is so effective. I can still feel sadness for his character seeing his expressions. V’s vocal harmony with PH is also superb and magical! V’s visual is unparalleled throughout the video. He really is Korea’s best talent and treasure!

This is based on Greek mythology's 'Pygmalion' according to Big Hit. If you noticed, V created a woman statue and she came to life. At the end, V realizes that he was not the creator, he was the created, by the Dark V. That's why he cries at the end, when he realized the truth. I adore this song. Yes. Of course we want more V. Check out his album "Layover". He did an MV for each song. Watch the MV's in order as listed on tbe album! We want more BTS. We want it all. All the solo albums. But you can only do so much each day. It's a long journey. Just steady your course. I think you know more and more why BTS is so very popular.
