I'm a die-hard Ween fan. From what I've read they came up with the name Ween by combining the words wuss and penis so drop the uss and is to get ween. If my sources are correct that's how they got the name. I'm pushing for Ween Wednesdays if at all possible. I know their discography like the back of my hand, have seen them over 30 times live, have a boognish (which is their demi-God symbol, tattooed on my upper arm, and I don't go a single day without listening to at least one song of theirs. I have an idea, do a poll for the trash talkers on patreon on whether or not they want Ween Wednesdays. A simple yes or no response and see what happens. Once again, thank you both for reacting to the greatness that is Ween.

I listen mostly to hip hop, but Ween is by far my favourite band. Their live show is amazing! I agree with Blue Bear that you should do Ween Wednesdays. There's a lot of excellent songs to choose from. You could do it for years and still not get close to running out of hype songs.

Great band. Musical geniuses. Hard to know them without listening to 20 of their songs, as they basically style each one on their influences. They have a Rush song, a Moody Blues song, a Zepplin song, a Yes song, etc. Listening to Ween is just about getting stoned and enjoying eclectic greatness. Pure creativity. Ween is massive.

I saw Ween for the first time in concert this past summer at Surly Brew in Minneapolis. They are great and their fans are too! They have like a cult following similar to the Grateful Dead. My buddy was passing out shrooms to the people around us, making the music even more surreal. Great review of a great band!

I also love how much you guys truly love music. I'm post-dental surgery, feeling like shit, and I was actually dancing around, rocking out as heavily as I was able. Dean Ween is one of the best guitarists of his generation, and so underrated. The same can be said for te band as a whole; their talent and vast body of staggeringly different work is astounding to behold; they deserve all the love, accolades, and money to be heaped at their scuffed sneakers. They're not huge-huge commercially, but their fans are RABID-FAITHFUL. From one song to the next, Ween play completely different genres, styles, decades. They're not exactly parodying other bands.... it's more of a loving homage to that band's sound. This one is their musical shout-out to Santana, Jimmi, Stevie Ray, etc. Transdermal Celebration is them doing Stone Temple Pilots and their ilk. A Tear For Eddie is totally Manfred Mann, as I said earlier. Roses Are Free is Zappa. And on and on and on. They are such huge music fans that all kinds of references you'd never expect will pop up, from country to jazz to R&B, all different kinds of rock, bloated, distorted shoegaze, and just two bros screwing around with a 4 track, drum machine, different vocal and guitar effects. Having a good time, entire albums as in-jokes. I am the stallion, mang. Pork roll, egg and cheese, if you please, with some gravy fries. They're the total, complete tits. Gene Ween has amazing pipes, too. The dude has crazy range.

Ween regularly does 2.5+ hour shows with 30 songs or so. There are a few on KZbin at the moment. They are well worth the watch, from start to finish.

Man, I am way late to this one! I was just speaking to my wife last week about Ween. After learning that she had no clue who they were, this was the first song I put on for her. Dean Ween does not get nearly enough credit for how versatile the band is. In my personal life, I rarely run into people that are aware of the band. They've even made a country album that, as the youngin's might say, fucking smacks! If that is something you'd be interested in checking out, I would suggest the song 'Piss Up a Rope'. I would think that even if you two aren't necessarily fans of country music you'll at least get a good laugh out of the track. Keep 'em coming, fellas!

Les claypool of primus - his self-described 'mid-life crisis band,' Les Claypool's Frog Brigade aka Colonel Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, played a great show in Atlanta in 2001(or 2002?) I believe. There was one show they did, just the sound was recorded from and you could buy the CDs. It was 2 different sets, the second one being them just playing the entire album animals by pink Floyd. Now I'm actually unsure if that was in Atlanta but I know there was at least video of a different show that was there that was great, on KZbin. Either both shows I mentioned were there, or at least one was. The first one that was on 2 different cds, you can find audio only videos of them on you tube (Live Frogs sets 1&2) I'm quite certain. And the other one there's actual videos of it on here. At that one they played with a little help from my friends by the Beatles. I bet you guys would enjoy that if it's still on here and you could find it. I think I've also seen interview footage where P-nut from 311 talks about how much they (311) love playing the tabernacle, I believe, down there. And I think I've noticed they've played 2 nights in a row there at times, on tour (uncommon I'd say). There's also a good festival down there sweetwater 420 fest, & I'm excited for that cause oysterhead (another les Claypool band, with Trey from phish and stuart copeland drummer from the police) is playing at it next year.

I checked and the show where the live frogs CDs were recorded was actually in San Fran. But if you search them there is a video of the full show of them playing at the tabernacle. I knew I remembered there was a great video of them playing in Atlanta on KZbin. Maybe that's the only video of it, which I know wouldn't be the best for reactions. But I can check it and at least come back and tell you the part of it when they play the Beatles song, so you could jump to it if you wanted to do a reaction. They altered the lyrics to it a little, and the drummer sang on it, I think you'd get a kick out of it. Most of their live performances were very jammy, & I considered them pretty jazzy too.

You boys need to see them live. They are on tour right now. And will be in the fall as well. Me and a buddy are flying in to see them in Minneapolis/ Chicago and can’t wait. They will blow your mind, melt your face and give you a big hug all in one performance. You will not be disappointed. The reason Chicago shows are so good is the right mixture of venue, crowd, and the artist's energy. Shows there really are different from ones I've been to elsewhere. I've heard Cleveland is also great for concerts, but I've never been to one there.

It's not really about the amount of notes, like many shredders, but more about the right notes! Ween live is on a much different level than their studio sound... especially a show like Chicago 2003! Deaner is a master, playing scales and improvising like few others! Gene was so on top of it then. Glad you're way into Ween, Hollywood. I am too, especially after seeing them live a few times. I also find them hilarious. The singer makes me laugh because most of the time his voice is slightly mocking. Like he's acting in different singer types. He's Gene and he cracks me up. He released a solo album and it's not "funny", but it IS. Under his real name Aaron Freeman- Marvelous Clouds. Give it a spin, it's groovy but funny.
