The 74 olds 442 was the indy 500 pace car. Those front seats were called Strato bucket seats

They didnt detune them as much as people think. Number 1- the horsepower was measured as net vs. gross . Number 2 - the gained a beer gut in weight. About 300 lbs vs. 72 . Various reasons. Like g.m thinking the rollover standards were going to be implemented, which never came to be i think. 3 - in 75 almost all oassenger cars required a catylytic converter. Though this is a 74. 4 - gear ratios in the rear axle were numerically low which doesnt help for takeoff,but highway speeds,yes. The thought was to reduce rpm for fuel mileage and lower emissions

The lowered compression ratio so they could run on unleaded gas cut the power quite a bit

The missing emblem on the trunk under 442 is a small rectangle that says " by Oldsmobile". Silver in color . It also has the Ralleye Pack gauges. It should have dual exhaust. You could put some glass packs on the exhaust pipes and maybe some air shocks in the back. You can adjust the rear end with air pressure up or down. Take the valve covers off and vacuum out the sludge and tighten the valve lifters if needed. Nice car. The thing on the dash is a red light that says "fasten seatbelts". It comes on when you start the car and goes off. Cutlass's from 73 to 77 are known for having loose interior door panels. They rattle when you shut the door. Its common on all gm cars from the colonnade era by GM.

The right side gaps r bigger than the left side gaps on the hood 4 SURE ... BUT NICE CAR ..!!

In college I had a 77' 442. Basically the same car here except I had standard buckets, NASCAR nose, and 442 stickers instead of real emblems. I put duals on it with turbo mufflers and air shocks to fix the sag. It looked badass like this car but sadly, it too was a poser muscle car. One day I got whipped by a Mitsubishi Eclipse and that was the last time I embarrassed myself in the "sticker" 442.

You I see why they don’t do that now. I have a mid size 2012 Mitsubishi outlander suv. Has the normal lift but but the lower part comes out and make a comfortable tailgate. Very nice

Cars aren't really selling well. Woman like SUV & guys like trucks for the most part. They are more functional I guess but I miss them too.
