That looks like what I call a whip wash, they will leave tons of scratches on the paint

Well back in the day, cars had single stage paint which was very thick and hard to scratch. So Filament was nothing to old cars. Modern cars have paint and clear coat which isn’t as thick as single stage and clear coat is easy to scratch.

@@britishcarfan9601 actually that's kind of not true. Single stage paint actually is not that thick and it actually degrades faster than base coat. Clear coat base coat. Clear coat if done right has at least two to three layers of each coat. And if you want to say that single stage doesn't scratch easily, I would like to point you to any TV show including knight rider, which is a perfect example, the 1982 trans Am used for the TV show was a single stage paint vehicle and you can tell it was whip-washed using the universal back lot vehicle services system because the amount of swirl marks all over it was freaking insane. Now obviously universal is upgraded a lot of their wash system for their studio vehicles. But yeah single stages not as thick as base coat clear coat

This is actually Sherman equipment, they didn't merge until 1993.
