I walked past here a few years ago and I thought it was disused! This is quite a surprise! 😲

To be honest, I think it was disused for quite some time, but I don’t think it was declared abandoned if that makes sense. only recently they have started using this line again I think.

I cycled pass their about 6 years back and it was in a right state, but network rail did it up and reinstated the line.

Thanks, it's fascinating to see a crossing activation on this privately owned Barrington Light Railway, very unusual.
@UKLCSandT3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is very unusual to be honest, apparently though these might be getting used for some time according the person who activated the crossing.

Great catch and so pleasant without a siren.
@MervynPartin Жыл бұрын
@Cavaliers7805Yodalarm is a registered trade mark for a particular make of siren (Clifford & Snell). According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, a siren is a device that makes a loud warning noise. Personally, I prefer crossings to have bells.

i was at Foxton station today and i saw the track junction that went onto this line and i throught that this was also abandoned but its good to know that it is still used by Freight Train's

An interesting crossing. AOCLs are my favourite type of crossing anyway, but the fact that the signals are uncommon makes it even more unusual.
@UKLCSandT3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s true. I never thought I’d see this crossing activate but now luckily I have done..

Wow. Awesome video! You've finally got a proper activation here, excellent stuff! Interesting array of equipment here, nice to see some Pike halogens. Also intriguing how the right-hand wigwag on the side you filmed from has one LED bulb and one halogen bulb. Gets my OCD that they flash independently after the amber goes out though.
@UKLCSandT3 жыл бұрын
Thank you mate. I couldn’t believe my luck when these activated haha. I honestly thought that this line was abandoned now ever since the cement works closed. Ahh yeah i only noticed the one LED bulb when I watched the video back haha, you can certainly tell though that this is one super rare crossing.

The lights are new since the last time I went down that road. It just used to be an open uncontrolled crossing.
@UKLCSandT Жыл бұрын
yep, these lights have been here for quite some time now.

Wow, great catch mate 😁 Looks like its not abandoned after all haha

You thought it was abandoned?
@UKLevelCrossingsChannel3 жыл бұрын
@@vastjonea Yes I didn’t think any trains used it anymore once a new housing estate was built by the old cement works.
@UKLCSandT3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know what you mean mate, I thought it was abandoned as well after they knocked down the old chimney at the cement works so I’m rather surprised to see it activate.

Great video man, surely this freight line should be use for the East West Rail link being reinstated for Bedford from Cambridge at moment, does this line lead to Sandy??
@UKLCSandT2 жыл бұрын
This line goes from Foxton to Barrington Cemex, there storing the dirt from the HS2 project in a big hole at Barrington. Im pretty sure that’s what the guy said to me.
@juliejames9782 жыл бұрын
Yes - every day using the HS2 spoil to fill in the cement works where they are building houses.

I patrol that section of line and found out today that they had a run away over the weekend.. Someone took the handbrake off a stored wagon and it rolled onto the crossing and blocked the road

Oh my gosh really?? Blimey that’s terrible… I’ve never seen anything like that before
@TenShine1productions Жыл бұрын
@@UKLCSandT yep. We were shocked. There's a very heavy anti rail attitude around that area so I'm not surprised
