Rare and desirable 1971 Aston Martin DBS Manual!

The long-awaited DBS V8 was the fastest four-seater production car in the world at launch. The extra capacity and cylinder count elevating the DBS to a true supercar and continent crusher. Fitted with lighter alloy wheels (as opposed to the wire wheels of the 6 cylinder variant), it had a purposeful, muscular stance.
Made world famous when the DBS was used in the 1971-72 hit TV series The Persuaders. Roger Moore’s character, Lord Bret Sinclair, enjoyed the ultimate transport in the Aston Martin DBS.

My currently white 1970 DBS vantage was this colour originally. I wasn’t sure whether to return it to this colour or go birch - this has made up my mind - it’s gorgeous!!!

Not sure what you've done in the edit, or if your camera is under exposing, but all colours are dull and muted. It would look so much better if you could fix that. You need to adjust 'levels'.

Frankly, it is due to the showroom lighting. This video was filmed a long time ago. We have since built a video studio for filming.

@@Wonky_ties That's amazing! Mr M.P Harting was our chairman until his sad passing only last year. An incredible man, never without a smile and a story to share. He was with HWM for more than 60 years. We miss him greatly and with fond memories.

The 25 gallon tank allows for extended euro touring…lol! Not at 10mpg! My DBS Vantage wasn’t much better but what a great car!

The DBS V8 with the Bosch MFI properly set up can achieve 18mpg at legal (kind of..) highway speeds. I have converted mine to fully sequential EFI and averaged 22mpg on a 5,000 mile round trip.

When I drove a DBS Vantage some years ago, the salesman described the brakes as 'braking by appointment' and they were indeed alarmingly wooden.

You definitely need to think ahead and adjust compared to a modern car.

The brakes were upgraded for the V8. If you drove a 6cyl then this V8 will be better. My 6cyl car is upgraded to V8 brakes and a servo from a Jaguar XJS which is an excellent combination. Apart from the lack of ABS they are up to modern standards. To those who say that a car like this must remain as the day it left the factory I say 'Really - complete with poor brakes leaving you venerable to crashing it?' If I could afford the £5k or so to add ABS I would.
