Rare Car Restoration 6: Engine Rebuild Part 2. Rebuilding Fiat 1.2 16v Punto, 500, Panda

This is the second Video in the series of rebuilding this little 1.2 litre 16V 86Hp Fiat Punto Engine.
The engine was lacking power and so needed investigation, having exhausted all other possible issues i could address without taking the engine apart it left only one option, take the cylinder head off to see what's going on inside the engine.
As part of this work I remove the cambelt, water pump and head gasket of the 1.2 16 valve fiat engine. This gives you some idea of the work that is involved with these jobs and in the future I will make videos breaking down how to do these specific tasks so subscibe for those. for now just sit back and enjoy the journey as I break down this 1.2 16valve 85cv (86bhp) engine.

How do you hold the tappers in place when refitting thanks

For sure sealing all those gasket leaks along with the new oil and correct timing and other work will have put a few horses back in the stables. It sounds like bad problems but it's all great news, relatively easy and satisfying fixes. Look forward to seeing the new 0-60. Speaking of, what app are you using for timing the 0-60?

I have taken it out and while it definitely feels more powerful and like it’s got more go, it’s still not back to where it should be, that being said the wheels are completely wrong and should be much smaller with much smaller tires, so I think all that additional mass to spin is sapping performance. So until I can put the right wheels back on I won’t bother doing another 0-60
