Cool and informative. Just one question. If I wanted to change the camshaft for an upgraded item, how would i re-time them? Is it as easy as using the locking tool again until it pops into place?

Yes the cam shafts have to be orientated so that the locking tool will lock in on both cam shafts, as long as you do that, they will be in time. I’d be interested to know how you get on with the new cam shaft, I’ve seen people like piper will re grind the camshafts you have for performance so that you don’t have to buy new ones and save some money.

@ he is me, and using an angle grinder in anyway is dangerous, there is nothing specific in that video that I did wrong, as it cut the pipe moved pinching the cutting disc and causing it to kick back, I could have not posted the video but decided to do so to show people how dangerous grinders are and how quickly things can go wrong.

I’m fairly sure that doesn’t exist, early 90s cars came with a 1.6 8v but not a 16 valve, then the mk2 wasn’t available with a 1.6 at all. The grande and Evo came with the multijet diesel 1.6 which was a 16v and did come in a sporting but also aside from being a diesel, they are notoriously reliable and rare so finding one let alone one with a head gasket issue is unlikely.

There are no files I can send you. You may be able to use one of the language packs which can be downloaded from the Fiat forum website but I suspect you have bigger issues than just the language issue, please see my most recent video discussing the future of blue and me cars

I’m owner of a Fiat Punto 2004 1300 Multijet with dual-zone climate control and i have problem with the air vents of the passenger, cold air is coming from the one side and full heat from the side of the driver ,both synchronised but they don’t cooperate, if you had any similar problem and found solution I would be glad to hear it! There are electric motors that control flaps inside the heater box to direct air either fiat the aircon evaporator or the heater matrix these motors are prone to breaking on some models it’s uncommon on the Punto but seems likely to be the cause of your problem

I have a fiat punto 2015, and blue&me doesn’t like the wired connection. I play music, it plays for 2 seconds then goes back to the radio. My phone is still trying to play audio through the wired connection, so it’s just blue&me being buggy it seems. I figured it would be to update my system, since there is no way to update it, any other solutions?

Technically speaking there are no new updates passed 2015, your car would have come from new with the most up to date version of the software. You could perhaps try and rest the whole system or pull the fuse from the blue and me unit to kill the power for a bit and see if that helps, or see if there is a factory reset option

How does charging a battery affect how a diesel runs after cold start?? It doesn’t!!

If a battery is severely depleted then it puts a massive load on the alternator on modern diesels with lots of electronics this can also cause issues and errors from low voltages, the lift pump in the fuel tank is electric and needs a lot of power as one example. So there are issues that can arise just after starting, caused by a poor battery state.

I actually bought Punto as commuter car with now legendary 1.2 8v. Had 188 mk1, 188 mk2 with same engine, now went for 199, 2012 first production year of "just" Punto (not being grande or evo). Had no idea about Blue&Me, as an guy who is into cars, electronics and informatics I find this extremely helpful. I actually ordered 2 din player for carplay and stuff before I got car (bought it but had to finish with paperwork) and now I just understand that it was lucky but wise choise since I decided to buy it while being black friday discounted. Now few question if you find the time, I would be very grateful and maybe someone else with lots of questions find it useful. With removal of Blue&Me computer (or in my case Blue&Me 2) do you loose anything? I will put this aftermarket stereo, and it allegedly hooks up to steering wheel controls, has all the good stuff from simple things like aux to stand alone GPS without need for internet connection. BUT If I remove the computer do you know if steering wheel commands stop working, does it throw codes? And like is B&M2 computer passtrough for steering wheel commands and does aftermarket stereo usually bypass that (i know this is kinda dependable also on aftermarket unit you get, but you can share some general knowledge)? Do you have experience with bad caps with B&M2? I'd assume on B&M2 and by 2012 they probably used SMD ones and they are not so prone to leaking if at all. Did you experience any vamp drain on B&M2 systems?

It would seem that new or old these blue and me computers can all fail. In my research it is an Arm processor and the whole device is a lot like a raspberry pi computer, just very old and lacking. They did some updates with the move to b&m2 but did very little to the overall hardware, with fiat they don’t update things as they go and so when they design a module in 2009 the 2015 version will be exactly the same. During the Computer chip shortage they had to shut down the fiat panda production because no one would make the very old chips they needed (as one example) A lot of your questions I cannot answer, what I would say is keep the old radio handy in case you have any problems. One I can see being an issue is that B&M updates the clock in the dash so remove it and the clock may stop working. Other than that I don’t know of any more major issues. The steering wheel controls can usually be adapted with aftermarket plug in boxes, you’ll just have to see if the new radio will work or if other plug ins will be needed. Please do let me know how you get on as any information you glean could help others

Hi, I have a Fiat 500 with the BlueMe system. I tried plugging in my phone to the aux and playing music through that, however the volume on my phone keeps automatically turning down. I can’t turn it back up as it will just keep turning down itself. I’ve tried turning the volume up on the car but that doesn’t work. I had a look at the settings on the radio in the car but couldn’t figure out if I needed to turn anything on/ off.

@ I would be inclined to make sure there is nothing in the usb port in the car, they are prone to getting stuff in the sockets. Make sure you are using an MFI approved iPhone cable potentially disconnect the car battery for a while to clear any weird software glitches that may have occurred. If non of that works it may just be a case that the phone you have is too new to continue to work with blue and me given that blue and me has been unsupported by fiat for the last 3-4 years and has been out of date for at least the last 8 years.

The original wire was a shared ground with a multitude of other systems in the dash, any noise on the earth wire say from a heater fan or a relay switching on and off, and it will create a potential difference on the ground from the switch, which to the airbag ECU looks like a poor/fluctuating connection

To change the valve cover gasket you need to tune the car.

There is no “valve cover” it’s what’s known as a cam carrier, and to change the gasket you have to remove the full cam carrier which means you need a timing kit to reset the timing when you put it back together

Thanks. What were the symptoms again? When I pull hard on the handbrake, it kind of "slips" and loses tension. However, relieving the handbrake and pulling it again, the tension is right there, but it will yield each time the pull is too hard. I wonder what's going on, is it the cables or the mechanism of the brake lever?

Could be the cables stretching or the individual wires of the cables begining to break. I think you need to take a look at it sooner rather than later

Visto la decisione amara della obsolescenza del sistema toccherà orientarsi su un sistema di nuova generazione con molte più funzionalità, chiedo che marca di sistema posso installare che sia abbastanza integrato con linea dell'interno abitacolo. I have a 2014 Fiat Panda. The Odometer recently started flashing and I was advised that the Blue and Me needed to be replaced because it controls most of the electric systems in the car such as the demister, heater, wipers etc. Is this not correct? Can I do what you said and just remove it and put a stereo in? Will my electrics still work and will Odometer stop flashing?

Blue and me is a separate module a lot like a raspberry pi computer if you know what that is, if you remove it, you will lose some functions such as usb connected music, Bluetooth will stop working etc but it has. I thing to do with things like lights heaters wipers they are controlled by the body computer which is located elsewhere in the car

@@KingStefan11ZZ the odometer flashes as an indication that something is missing from the cars “canbus” computer network so you need to unplug the blue and me module to stop the issue getting any worse as a failed blue and me system can drain the battery and lead to starting problems. To stop the flashing you need to perform what’s called a proxi alignment, this can be done by a garage with the right kit or for about £60 you can do it yourself with readily available software, if you go the DIY route then you have everything for diagnosing any future issues which can save a huge amount of money for yourself. A third option would be to join the fiatforum who keep a register of people with the software who might be willing to help other members out.

Don't know what's different about my Punto 188 but with the suspension struts disconnected and the car raised and so the rear suspension arm dropped the springs sit so tight into the mountings that it was impossible to 'easily remove the springs without the need for spring compressors .......' I did try spring compressors on one side and struggled to get one off. In the end I used a small bottle jack between the end of the supension arm and the rear chassis member to make a sufficient gap to remove / replace the springs. Removal of the fittings from the end of the springs was also a challenge. The top rubber one was OK but the bottom plastic one kept binding on the corrosion high spots on the spring. Repeated chipping away at possible high spots and plenty of WD40 eventually worked after about 20 mins for one and 15 mins for the other. My Punto is 2004 and the suspension bolts were heavily corroded. Need a combination of WD40 and an induction heater to start the bolts moving. No joy with an impact wrench. Had to repeatedly loosen a bit / tighten a bit to remove them and stop the bolts binding completely. Once out, I used a 1.25 x M12 die to run up the threads to remove the excess rust. Refitting with copper grease was not then an issue. Probably an hour job took most of the afternoon which including multiple spring removal attempts and thinking time for workaround. The joys of car maintenance. Not even convinced there was anything majorly wrong with the old ones apart from surface corrosion but I was fed up with seeing advisories each year on the MOT. ...... Managed to pick up a pair of springs of eBay for £26 from a reliable auto parts seller I have ued many times.

Check the battery ground lead, especially between the engine, and the body of the car, on a diesel it’s usually on the front of the gearbox

@@Mr11ESSE111 ok, I’m pointing you in the direction of a very common fault on all fiats bad engine earth means not enough current can get to the starter and so while everything else seems to work and the battery seems good the car won’t start, otherwise you spend your time playing around with the battery and not ruling out something that is easy to check

Hey! I have a problem with my Punto mk1, maybe you have an idea what it might be. Basically, it's sometimes really difficult to get into first and second gear. It fights me a lot. There are no grinding sounds or anything similar. Third, fourth and fifth all shift nicely with no issues. When the car is off, all gears shift nicely! Only the first and second gears are sometimes difficult while driving. I know some of this is normal for Puntos to a degree, especially with the first gear, but this is too much. Hopefully it's nothing too expensive. My Punto has never cost me a lot of money so far and never really breaks down. Love the channel! I love Puntos and hate seeing people treat them as beater cars.

It may be the linkage which is quite complex in some mk1s with it having both a mechanical linkage and cables the other possibility is the clutch not disengaging properly which if the car is getting older and you don’t know when or if the clutch has been replaced then it might just be the car is old the clutch is worn and it just is due a replacement

Hi. I have a faulty blue and me module so have the flashing mileage. I've removed the unit completely and want to install an xtrons android headunit. I was just wonder if you know if I will still have to do a proxy alignment to stop the mileage flashing after Installing an android headunit? Cheers

Yep the mileage flashing is an indicator that the canbus system is missing a module so you need to remove it by means of a proxi alignment to stop it flashing and tell it to forget the blue and me module

That is Freddy Hernandez, not Freddy Tavarish. Tavarish is the name of his KZbin channel. Freddy is actually a Russian immigrant and tovarish means comrade in Russian. You are not interesting enough for people to be interested in you and your choice of cars is as bland and boring as you are. Freddy has a real love for cars and he was not trying to become a KZbin star ever. It just happened because people found his story to be intriguing. He was a kid from a poor neighborhood and he was not going to let the fact that he couldn't afford to buy a new supercar get in his way. He decided to take a big risk by putting his life savings into a junked Lamborghini and he showed everyone how it could be done. That was amazing to watch someone that had the passion and perseverance to achieve his dream. His dream and only goal was to own and drive that unobtainable car and becoming a huge KZbin star was not even in his thoughts at the time. It just happened to work out that way for him. So I highly doubt that you are going to become a huge and famous KZbinr because your admitting your copying him and you are just some guy wrenching on a regular car that doesn't interest anyone. You are only doing this because you think it will make you famous and there is nothing special about some average guy wrenching on an average car which is exactly why nobody will care if you fail. or succeed. You would be better if you took something on that is impossible for you to achieve and you filmed exactly how it destroyed your entire life. I guarantee you that you would have millions of people tune in every week to watch you lose it all. Because you strike me more as a Tyler Hoover than a Freddy Hernandez and people like to see average white guys with no passion for what you are doing fail. Do you even like cars? Because I think you are only interested in becoming famous and you can't become famous when you have no passion for what you are doing.. Freddy became famous because of his passion for cars. Not for his passion to become famous like you. I can already tell you that I will never watch another one of your videos after watching this video right here. First impressions are really important and you just succeeded in making me not like you with your very first video and I'm sure I'm not alone with my feelings.

Hey pal, just got an 5dr evo GP few months ago, I fitted an orignal armrest so far and just saw your heated seats installation. Ive got 2 questions about that. 1 - What is the two-directonal arrow on the lower arm rest suppossed to do. 2 - What trim level had leather seats as i wish to get some or some seat covers that replace the fabric ones

The button on the arm rest is for electrically adjustable lumbar support, the leather seats were an option never standard fit on any level of trim, my car had been a demo car for the fiat main dealer in London so most of the options had been ticked
