Rare Earth - In Bed (live TV 1970)

Courtesy of the Clark Santee archives, outstanding footage of Rare Earth in 1970 performing their hard-driving song In Bed. One of the only white acts ever signed to Motown, Rare Earth were from Detroit, a city primarily known for car manufacturing before soul and rock music collided as Motown became the hottest label in the U.S.

Absolutely phenomenal! The early line up of Rare Earth, with the addition of conga player Eddie Guzman. I wonder why they didn't show Kenny Jones, the keyboard player. I sure wish their was more footage of them during this time span. It's rare to see them with John Persh, the bassist (R.I.P.)

I think Kenny's last name was James. But yes, you're right. He got almost no camera time here. If you check out the band's appearance on Ed Sullivan, which you can find here on KZbin, it's similar. Kenny is barely shown at all!

Saw them live back in the 70's in Brooklyn and they blew me away. What a great performance. Still listen to them today.

this is rare earth in the beginning,i never thought i'd ever see them perform this song live on a live feed,this looks like ROD RICHARDS playing lead,do you folks no how hard it is to play drums and sing lead vocals,PETE RIVERA is a genius at both,i've said it

I've seen rare earth a couple of times back in the late seventies and eighties and that f****** drummer is a powerhouse. I thought that was Ray Monet on guitar for a second with straight hair but you cleared that up for me . Great great band
