Excellent job. Now you have a nice chisel. Find more, and get better each time. Thanks.

I know the lathe is new to you. Keep that tool rest closer to the work...... The more you hang a tool out over the rest the more it vibrates, vibrations will show up in your cuts. It acts more like a lever too, the more tool you have on your side of the rest in your hands the more you counteract this lever effect when the tool cuts the wood. Richard Raffan is a world famous turner, he has videos on here you could watch 😁

Thanks for the work but was the chisel in a fire? How did the steel get soft enough to use a file on it? If it was hardened steel I think the file should have glanced right over the steel? Am I missing something. I do really appreciate the video. Thanks

Oh mann, hab zufällig das Ende gesehen. Da stimmt die Schneidengeometrie auch nicht. Aber tolle Special Effects😂😂😂 Chemie und super Aufkleber, wow🤦

I also agree you must place the tool rest closer to the work piece, also try and invest in some decent wood turning tools, they will be safer in the long run. Enjoyed your video though well done. John.

Der Stechbeitel (Chissel) ist gehärtet, du machst deine feile stumpf.

The blade was hardest. The closer to the tail the material was softer.

Очень слабо! Стамеска заточена неправильно, старое клеймо почти уничтожено, на новой рукояти трещина. Зато старинная стамеска стала, теперь, блестеть. Очевидно, автор по незнанию, не умеет реставрировать столярный инструмент.

Nice restoration. I would be remiss if I failed to comment about your lathe work. Your tool rest is way too far back. Before turning on the lathe, the tool rest should be close enough to just clear the widest part of your stock as you hand turn it. Please check the operator's manual. It should instruct you on the proper technique. When rounding square stock, a gouge, not a skew chisel, should be your first tool. If it didn't happen off camera, it is amazing that skew chisel, and any others, didn't get grabbed and pulled out of your hands. For your safety please read the manual or watch a video on lathe turning technique.

I will not criticize, you have a good chisel from the junk steel you started with. What else matters?
