What years was his show?
@johnferguson40897 ай бұрын
@@eliogarcia3963 - when I saw his TV show, it was late 1950's because I was in secondary college at the time and as I've been a working concert performer for most of my life, I learned a lot from watching how he presented himself in his shows plus one or two mannerisms which worked for me later on TV as well.

What is so amazing about Liberace, you never see a piece of music in front of him. What an incredible memory he had to be able to play so many 100s of pieces of music without any musical score in front of him make him one of the greatest pianists ever .

These 50's performances are wonderful. They are so innocent and respectful of the source material. A very diligent fellow who sought to entertain people, but always bring good music forward. It would be hard to do this same type of thing today; so little interest in instrumental music except in europe for jazz. We have straight up symphony hall recitals of great pianists. I think YoYoMa is the closest we have to liberace today in terms of a wide range of music styles brought forward in collaborations with a variety of people.

Lovely to see Liberace enjoying himself. When the dancer came on, his face lit up because I think sometimes that musicians enjoy seeing the physical manifestation of the music. Although it is heavily edited, it is a wonderful piece of film and the dancer makes the best of the limited space that television, in those days, had available.
