Thankful for indoor plumbing! Something most of us take for granted! This is a really nice home.

Me too haha. I will go back again when it’s open and show the inside also. Have a great weekend!

Went there in Sept '24. Very nice visit. Visited tomb and was eerie to think the man in that marble enclosure was who I'd read about growing up.

My grandparents had an outhouse until about 1980.

Me too. I’ve been there about a dozen times from childhood til now and never seen the back yard open so I had to 😁

It is very interesting to know that fact must have been a very fast bathroom run in the winter.

I would imagine so 😂. I sure couldn’t live that way!

They use chamber pots in bedrooms which is smelly.

I’ve been to Lincoln’s home in the very early 1980’s. That outhouse has been moved. When we’re there the crapper was in a different spot in the yard and it was a two holer.

When my my mother married my stepfather, his place had a three seater outhouse. I guess it was a family affair.

That’s the very same backyard where crazy Mary was chasing Abe and whacking him with a broom. Some neighbors have witnessed and no one knows what’s the reason?

Actually, that’s an outhouse. The bathroom is inside where you bathe.

During the outhouse days, there usually did not have a 'bathroom', they filled the tub in the bedroom.

I think I might go there and take a metal detector to the backyard and see if I can find any artifacts
@joenewingham199623 күн бұрын
Would be nice, but no metal detecting allowed. I hope they excavated the outhouse area for artifacts though. Now I am going to have to drive over and take another tour to find out.
