This is absolutely a magnificent form of folk art. The sets are so artistic and in good taste, unlike the gore and violence seen so often. This was a joy to experience. This ride should be on the National Historic Register.

My mom would drag me on with my older cousin. And she would sleep over the night before and tell me scary stories about the haunted house. The one that scared me the most is that they would pull children off the ride and lock them in that banging door. She really sucked. Lol

Personally. With my affection towards haunted attractions, I love the “lights on” thing. I’ve always wanted to know what it would look like with lights on. So because of that, this is definitely one of my favorite videos. I wish it could be longer but I understand, it’s a ride and not a walk through. Excellent!

I worked on a television show during my college years in Knoebels Haunted mansion for the discovery channel. I assisted in lighting for the shoot, it was challenging to light a dark ride without ruining the ride effect. Great experience. We find ourselves at knoebels several times each summer, it is a gem in our area.

The Haunted Mansion at Knoebels is, by far, my favorite ride in the entire park... I love everything about this this ride especially the organ and the dungeon/torture chamber... I love how they hand painted the walls to look like stone, the bodies hanging around and the wooden ceiling... Such detail 😊

Great to see this with the lights on! It’s been at least 30 years since I’ve been there but the truck at the end with the high beams and the horn was the one thing I always remember. Scared me half to death just ‘cause it was so loud and unexpected, loved it!

The absolute best haunted mansion ride on the planet! I remember a coworker of mine telling me stories of how he and some friends used to jump off of the cars with flashlights while inside and do some "extra spooking" of people as they came through...lol! This was back in the late '70s and very early '80s. Thanks for sharing this video! I really enjoyed it!

I've gone to Knoebel's every year for 40 years until covid happened. It certainly has changed over the years. But between the camping and rides/food/games, it's a great place to go if and when it's not totally packed as it has been in recent years.

Cool video. I rode this back in 1978. The up side down room had strobe light effect to make it look like the walls were closing in, the lift hill had a giant bat, and there was also a skeleton painting the ceiling that tipped over when you went under him, and the dungeon had a cart that was overturned.

1:29 Disney's Haunted Mansion used to have hanging strings like that. They weren't removed in the traditional sense, but rather ripped off the ceiling by poorly-behaved guests, and they just knew better than to try to replace them.

I remember the snake having bandages over its nose because so many riders would punch it in the face when it popped out. (I was under 13 years of age mind you, I'm 24 now) but absolutely loved this ride growing up and still do as a parent!

Thanks for letting us seeing with the lights on. Every time I go there the line is really long and I don't want to waste the time, so I pass. The last time I went through it was about three years ago. My twins just graduated from High School and are moving away so even though I live an hour from Knoebels (Orwigsburg, PA) I don't have a reason to go there anymore. Knoebels is one of the greatest gems here in Pennsylvania.

Being able to see the track snaking through the attraction was the best feature for me. It doesn't detract from my imagining the ride in the dark. It's my loss that Knoebels wasn't a family destination in my youth. Coming from southeastern Pennsylvania it was either Dorney Park or Angela Park outside of Hazleton.

Hi JP! The scariest part for me was the car horn honking and the headlights aiming at me. I actually leaned back on my couch! LOL Good video, but it made me a little dizzy. Do go. It's so relaxing compared to other amusement parks. There's great food and you get to ride a lot of rides. You really get your money's worth. :)

@@paigepappasbednarsky415 Me and my wife took a trip there the other week . Was a 4 hr drive one way for us we stayed for about 5 hrs before heading home . We both bought a $20 book of tickets each for $18 each both of us rode 5 or 6 rides each, got something to eat( lunch didn't even cost $20) and still left the park with $14 worth of ride tickets in my pocket. it only costs $2.50 to ride this ride.

Around two years ago i went to Knoebels and rode this, as i have many times before. I was the first rider of the day, and they forgot to shut off the lights. It was very interesting seeing it in person. I let the ride operator know about the lights being on, and he offered me a free ride with the usual lights off saying that this time it will be scary. I told him that even in total darkness i laugh my ass off at all the various scares in there

My one daughter and I ride this every time we're at the park. Its a few hours away and we've been going sine she was about 6, now 30. Its our tradition since her sisters and mom won't ride it with me. Truly a must ride, not very scary but amusing (she still closes her eyes). Thank you Knoebel's Grove for decades of family memories!

Amazing you got to experience this. I was raised in PA, Pittsburgh area. Growing up, we went to Kennywood, Conneaut, Cedar point, Sea World and Geauga Lake. I never even heard of this place. I don't know what my parents were thinking. But my goal is to get to Knoebels. My favorite is seeing how everything works in the light like the sensors on the ground. Also, I've seen this Haunted Mansion in the dark on youtube channels and it's very hard to see everything. But in the light all the props are so much easier to see. Thanks again! Just subbed.
